[155] - Blanket Fort

Warnings: none really

A really short one but the next one is like 3800+ words

--

When Logan entered the anxious side's room he wasn't all too surprised to find Virgil anxiously pacing around in circles, but he was of course instantly worried, wondering what was the cause. Virgil slowed when seeing him, standing still with his arms tightly crossed over his chest.

It soon became clear that Virgil didn't really know what was making him anxious, which seemed to frustrate him further, but Logan had by now learner that there needn't always be a clear reason for his boyfriend's anxiety to arise. Though by now Logan had became a bit better at helping him calm, he hoped.

Logan held his arms open for Virgil in an attempt to keep him from starting to pace once again. Virgil gave Logan a look rather full of hesitation and did not step closer.

"I have been informed that physical closeness is comforting." Logan said, not lowering his arms by even an inch and Virgil seemed to internally battle his next decision before stepping in between Logan's arms and allowing him to embrace him. Virgil was quite stiff but he rested his head on Logan's shoulder and loosely wrapped his own arms around Logan.

They stood there together in silence for a while, Logan feeling how Virgil's hands were trembling even as he had them on Logan's back. Something Patton had said a few days back came to Logan's mind, and Logan though he could at the very least ask Virgil's opinion on the idea.

"I have also been informed that a 'blanket fort' could be helpful as well." Logan said, wondering if he was using that term correctly, he'd only heard Patton mention in passing about how he enjoyed hiding away in a blanket fort full of pillows when he was feeling overwhelmed.

"Would that be a satisfactory attempt at lowering your anxiety?" He asked and Virgil slowly exhaled before answering.

"I- yeah, it would." Virgil let go of him, taking a step back and fixing his eyes on something on the wall behind Logan while his hands fiddled with his sleeves. With a small flick of his wrist Logan conjured up an abundance of soft blankets into his arms, then looking down at the blankets and out over the room and remembering that he'd never built a blanket fort before.

"Do you even know how to build a blanket fort?" Virgil asked, something close to a grin on his face even though his arms were once again crossed tightly over his chest.

"Well… no, not really, but I'm sure I can figure it out. It can't be too difficult, can it?" He said and Virgil actually chuckled a little, taking the heap of blankets from him.

"You don't even need to know how to." Virgil said and snapped with his fingers, chairs appearing and the blankets hanging themselves over them, showing off Virgil's impatience.

"I suppose that is one way to do it." Logan said, watching Virgil fill the fort with pillows and blankets to sit on before he himself turned towards the tv in his room which was fittingly enough placed where the whole screen was visible from the blanket fort. Within two minutes he had Brooklyn Nine-Nine set up on their Netflix, knowing it was one of Virgil's go-to shows.

When turning back around Virgil was sat curled up into a small ball amongst the pillows, with what looked to be a weighted blanket draped over his shoulders, and when Logan smiled at him Virgil sent him a tentative smile back.

"Where are you going?" Virgil asked and tightly hugged one of the pillows to his chest when Logan turned to leave and there was something in the tone Virgil had spoken in that had Logan making a very quick conclusion that he was expected to stay.

"Work?" He tried, thinking of the scripts from Roman that he needed to read through and the scheduling for next month that needed to be done. Though perhaps his assumption that Virgil was no longer in any need of him had been incorrect.

"Come join me, nerd." Virgil mumbled, and Logan really could not deny him that and therefore sat back down with Virgil in the blanket fort, smiling slightly as Virgil's head came to rest on his shoulder. Logan snapped with his finger start playing the show, not able to reach the remote when sitting like this.

"You just being here is what calms my anxiety the most." Virgil admitted after a few moments of them both being quiet, and Logan put his arm around Virgil's shoulders.

"I'm glad that I am able to provide you that comfort." Logan said softly, Virgil not responding to that but reaching out to take Logan's hand in his. He let Virgil play with his fingers without as much as a shadow of a complaint, hoping that Virgil's hands would stop trembling soon and that his anxiety would calm.

Once Virgil was feeling alright again Logan would attempt to coax him out of his room and maybe ask him to join him on a walk in the imagination, or maybe they'd just stay in and do another calm activity such as piecing together a puzzle or cooking. Or, which was a very likely scenario, they'd end up spending the remainder on the day cuddled up in their blanket fort while watching numerous episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Well, any time spent with Virgil was time spent well.
