[153] - Late

Warnings: I suppose kissing without really asking for consent first, swearing

And they were roommates

Lol

--

"Logan, calm down, being a bit late won't be the end of the world, it's not like you'll miss out on something fun anyway." Virgil said, following his roommate through the kitchen where he'd just hurried through with an untied tie around his neck and button-up still unbuttoned.

"You know that I am hoping for a promotion soon, I need to show that I am trustworthy and capable of time management." Logan called back from the hallway where he was now and when Virgil joined him there he was standing in front of the mirror and buttoning his shirt.

"Well, I mean… you're about to be late, so…" Virgil said and Logan gave him an unamused look as he buttoned the last button and immediately began tying his tie. It was impressive to watch Logan, at least in Virgil's opinion as he himself could not tie a tie to save his life. Logan had tried teaching him a multitude of times but he seemed to be a lost cause.

Virgil had settled for simply asking Logan to tie it for him whenever he needed to wear a tie, even if it ended with Virgil standing there flustered because of how close Logan was.

"Okay, listen to me, they already know how amazing you are at your job, being five minute late to a crappy christmas party you're forced to attend won't diminish your chances to be promoted." Virgil said and hoped he was somewhat helpful.

"I suppose… but I still do not want to be late." Logan said after having put his shoes on, running a hand through his hair in a way Virgil was unsure was a gesture of stress or if he just tried to make it neater. Virgil looked him up and down, trying to see if anything was out of place.

"Hang on, let me just..." Virgil took a step closer, too close perhaps, and reached his hands out, fingers carefully fixing Logan's collar. He glanced up, quickly, to find Logan's eyes already on him, something in his expression that Virgil couldn't read.

"There you go. You look nice." He said quietly, then after a second of silence realizing that he still had his hands on Logan and that they were standing so close that Virgil could smell Logan's cologne. His hands fell to his sides and he awkwardly met Logan's eyes, feeling heat rising on his cheeks.

A mere second passed while they kept their eye contact, and then Logan closed the little distance between them. At first Virgil didn't entirely follow what was happening but then his brain connected the dots and his hands gabbed onto Logan as he returned the kiss.

They parted, both terribly flustered and speechless (at least Virgil was) and they simply stared at each other, Logan seemed just as surprised by his actions as Virgil was. Then Logan glanced down at his wristwatch and tore himself away from Virgil.

"Shit. I really need to go, we'll have to talk about that when I get home tonight, I'm sorry, um," Logan grabbed his jacket and pressed the door handle down, "I will see you in a few hours."

The door had already closed behind him before Virgil really caught up with the events that had just transpired and he blinked repeatedly, eyes still fixed on the door which Logan had disappeared out of.

His fingertips brushed his lips, slowly comprehending the fact that Logan really had kissed him, feeling the aftermath of the rush of 'butterflies' that had rushed through him as Logan's lips had been pressed to his, he could, almost, still feel the warmth of him. Virgil ran a hand through his hair and sighed.

Shit, Virgil might be gayer for his roommate than he'd previously been willing to admit. And now said roommate had just kissed Virgil and then bolted for some shitty party that would last for a few hours, leaving Virgil to do what? Keep thinking of the kiss for that whole time, of how good it'd felt? Leaving him to try to navigate what he was truly feeling? (Ew.)

Could Logan really do what? Was that legal? Virgil was far too gay to handle these kinds of situations. Not that he'd ever been in a situation like this before.

"Oh, fuck." Virgil sighed, finally turning away from the front door and making his way back into their living room where he sank down onto the couch. He flopped onto his back and dug in his pocket for his phone.

He of course had absolutely zero messages from Logan which meant he'd really have to wait for hours until Logan came back home before knowing what the hell that kiss had meant. Was it just some kind of spur of the moment thing? Did it mean Logan had some sort of feelings for him? It had to, didn't it? Or?

Fuck.

--

It was only three hours later when Virgil heard the door being opened, which was earlier than Virgil had estimated Logan would return which made Virgil hastily stand up from where he was still lying on the couch because he had not yet prepared for what he was going to do or say once Logan came back home.

Virgil had actually ended up watching youtube and eating a whole chocolate bar while waiting for him to return. But now Logan was stood in the doorway to the living room, jacket still on, and Virgil's brain failed him as he tried to think of what to say.

"I left early." Logan said, breaking the silence between them. Virgil nodded slowly and watched as Logan took his jacket off.

"So it seems, I didn't expect you home for at least another hour." There was probably at least a hundred other things Virgil should say but that was what he got out. His eyes followed Logan as he stepped into the room, stopping maybe a meter away from Virgil and laying his jacket down on the coffee table.

"So, about what happened before I left…" Logan started and Virgil crossed his arms over his chest, a lurch of nervousness in his gut at Logan's words.

"Yeah, um, what the hell, man? You can't just do that and then leave, are you trying to kill me?" Virgil exclaimed, perhaps sounding a little more defensive about it than he should, but Virgil didn't really know how else he was supposed to react. Logan blinked, almost as if a little surprised by Virgil's words, and he couldn't figure out the look in Logan's eyes.

"I'm sorry, it was inappropriate of me to kiss you. Without even asking for permission too. I shall not do it again." Logan said and Virgil opened his mouth to protest against that last part without really thinking.

"Wait- um, I didn't necessarily mind that you kissed me, I just- you can't do that and just leave. I mean, um..." Virgil rambled, not wanting Logan to think he was mad because of the kiss, but not entirely sure what he did want Logan to think. Though he sure as hell wouldn't mind if Logan would want to kiss him again.

"Is that so? You didn't mind that I kissed you?" Logan said, of course latching onto that part and Virgil flustered as he saw how Logan glanced down at his lips. He cleared his throat.

"Maybe. Whatever, I'd like to know why you kissed me in the first place." He said, because that was definitely a valid question and Virgil needed to know Logan's reason before he would admit to any feelings at all.

"I suppose, partly, because I was stressed and not thinking things through properly. But, mostly, because I've wanted to kiss you for a while. So I did, even if it was not the best of times to do such a thing, that I will admit." Logan said and Virgil swore his heart skipped a beat in his chest at the confession.

Virgil uncrossed his arms, hastily trying to figure out if this meant Logan really returned the feelings Virgil had for him.

"Okay, so…" Virgil said, staring right at Logan and hoping that he'd answer his unspoken question. Logan sighed.

"I cannot believe you are making me say this, but fine, I have got feelings for you, a crush, or maybe more than that, but feelings nonetheless." He said and Virgil could see how just saying it made Logan blush the tiniest bit (which Virgil had to say was very cute).

"Okay then, I guess I can tell you that I feel the same way about you." Virgil said, wondering if saying such a simple sentence really should have him feeling so very flustered. Logan at least smiled at his words, and that was certainly a sight to behold.

"Then it would not be completely out of line for me to kiss you again, would it?" Logan said, taking one, two steps closer and Virgil wasn't sure he needed to really answer that so instead he glanced down at Logan's lips in a way that was likely very obvious and then he leaned in and kissed Logan.

Logan was quick to kiss back, quicker than Virgil had been earlier this evening, and Virgil allowed his arms to wrap around Logan's neck as their lips moved together, having Virgil easily forgetting the things he should be concerned about.

They'd need to talk about this, their relationship and how it would change now, exactly what it would change into, because of course it would change somehow. They were friends and shared apartment and if this would end badly then it could ruin a lot and of course Virgil was terrified of that (which had been his main reason for pretending he didn't have these feelings for Logan for so long), but Virgil hoped intensely that they'd both be smart enough to not let anything like that happen (they'd after all managed to keep their friendship for many years).

So, yes, there were things needing to be discussed. For this moment, though, Virgil was just going to enjoy kissing his maybe-boyfriend.
