ACT TWO
(unsuccessful conversations)
VERONÍCA GLANCED towards the woods as Rick and Glenn investigated the car. The trio had briefly stopped due to the car and tree in the road, while Veroníca didn't feel like checking it. Glenn did.
When a walker fell out of the car, Veroníca watched in shock as Glenn stomped the creature's head in.
Rick watched as well, not seeming as shocked. After all he knew the man was angry, just like he was when Lori died. So as he continued stomping in the walker's head, Rick didn't stop him.
Veroníca didn't seem to catch the hint, seeing as she eventually walked over.
She then softly pulled Glenn away from the bloody walker, her hands remaining on his shoulders. "You're gonna hurt yourself, miel."
Glenn sighed, clutching his bruised stomach as Veroníca released his shoulders from her grip.
As soon as he did, Rick made his was in front of the man. He only stood for a second before Glenn spoke to him. "You didn't kill him."
"That's not why we went back."
"No, that's right. You went back for Daryl. Now he's
gone again, and the Governor is still alive." Glenn argued, not noticing as Veroníca took a step back from the duo.
"Daryl was the priority."
"I should have been there with you!"
"Glenn, you're still hurt." Veroníca mumbled, earning a head shake from Glenn as Rick agreed. "She's right, you're in no condition."
"It doesn't matter!"
"You didn't come back with us 'cause you could barely walk!" Rick yelled, using his hands to help him explain as he did so.
"What about Veroníca!" Glenn's question confused Veroníca. She hadn't gone with Rick so she couldn't see why Glenn was so mad. Yet when he continued yelling, she couldn't help but feel angry as well. Not at Rick but at Glenn. "Do you know what he did to her?!"
Veroníca shook her head in a fast motion as she felt Rick's eyes turn to her. Though she wasn't looking at either of the men, she could feel Rick's pity filled stare and she hated it.
"After all that effort. All that risk we took. Daryl just takes off with Merle?" Glenn asks, changing the topic.
"He had his reasons." Rick reassured.
While Veroníca normally would pitch in her two cents, the feeling of embarrassment still lingered over her. So she figured it'd be better if she waited in the car.
So that's what she did, she ignored Glenn's hand that tried to subtly get her to stay and made her way back to the car.
Veroníca hopped into the backseat, immediately leaning her head on her brother's shoulder as the man sat in between her and Michonne.
There was an awkward silence that lingered the air, which ended in Veroníca speaking up. "What'd you guys go back for?"
Michonne didn't reply, which wasn't a shock. "We beat his ass." Aiden answered, a smirk coming over his face as he remembered the fight.
Veroníca smiled as well, closing her eyes a bit as she began dozing off. "I want to be the one to kill him.."
Aiden didn't bother verbally replying, instead he nodded as he noticed his sister falling deeper into sleep.

The group had gotten back fifteen minutes ago, while Rory was beyond excited to see his Ma. She was even more excited to show him the gift that she had picked up on the run that went wrong.
Which is why she was so thankful that the group had managed to get the basket, securing both the formula and the hello kitty pocket knife.
So while Rory examined the knife she had picked out for him, Veroníca smiled softly at her son. "It's so cool!" Rory exclaimed, opening the knife just as Carl spoke up from his spot beside the pair.
"Hello Kitty's a girl show." The young boy said, an annoyed look on his face as he subtly shook his head.
Veroníca didn't take it to heart. She knew the boy was still mourning over the unfortunate passing of his mom, something the woman was purposely pushing off thinking about.
After all, with the tragic loss of T-dog, she didn't want to bring herself to realize that she had lost her other close friend as well.
Carl and Rick obviously took it the hardest, while Rick was very obvious about it. Carl's sadness came out in outbursts of annoyance and anger. So Rory wouldn't expect anything less from him.
"The world ended, I don't think girls care if I like hello kitty too.." Rory trailed, continuing to open and close his knife as he spoke.
There was a brief pause when suddenly Glenn appeared in the opening of the cell. "You guys cozy in here?" Glenn asked a smile coming onto his face as Rory replied.
"Look what my Ma got me!" Rory answered excitedly, handing Glenn the knife when he had taken a step closer.
Though Glenn had seen the knife from when Veroníca had picked it out, he still pretended to be in awe as he flipped in back and forth. "No way, now this—this is cool.
"I know!" Rory said excitedly, taking the knife back before immediately pretending to fight off an invisible walker.
At his sudden action moves, Glenn took a huge step back while Veroníca smiled at the boy. As the child continued swinging the open knife around.
Veroníca finally put a stop to the boy's actions, placing a hand on his arm causing him to slowly move his new weapon down to his side.
"That got a little terrifying there for a second, chiquito." Veroníca joked.
Rory's mouth dropped at this, a frown almost appearing before Glenn spoke up once more. "I think it was really impressive. You'll be a good fighter."
Rory smiled at the man's words, quickly high-fiving him. There was a brief moment of silence, causing Rory to lean over to whisper something in Carl's ear.
Immediately when the whispering stopped, Rory pulled his moody friend out of the cell. Leaving a slightly uncomfortable air between the two left.
Saying Veroníca was a little upset with Glenn would be an understatement. She was actually rather pissed at his actions. After all, Veroníca Hayes hated feeling embarrassed, and she hated that Glenn had embarrassed her in front of someone she highly respected. Rick.
The uncomfortable air only turned more tense as Glenn took a seat next to Veroníca on the bottom bunk.
"You switched cells." Glenn stated, staring at Veroníca as she continued looking at the ground. "You don't want a roomie anymore?"
"Not right now." Veroníca answered, finally making eye contact for a moment before glancing at the wounds that littered her friend's face. "Did Hershel check on you?"
"He would've.. I kind of told him to hold off for now."
Glenn scratched the back of his neck while Veroníca nodded, another silence briefly coming over the pair before Glenn broke it again. This time with a much more serious tone. "Vee.. Did he—"
"—I'll go get Hershel, you should get that checked out." Veroníca cut off, not wanting to talk about the recent events.
Glenn didn't bother trying to stop her from leaving her new cell, he knew the woman well enough to know she wouldn't have listened. Instead, he stayed sitting on the bottom bunk, frowning as he messed with his hair
