It's eerily quiet that morning, the day after Wooyoung had visited the royal castle, and he's anxious, when there's the entire crew being lined up into six long lines. It's even more confusing when he notices the women of their crew lined up by ranks along with them, mixed in within the men, as if they wouldn't usually have their own line up point. There are also all the Generals in front of them, looking as strict as never before, and it's even more confusing when Juyeon, his friend from the overseas squadron, is standing side by side with General Jung, as if she weren't a lower rank at all. It's awkward and uncomfortable, but Wooyoung manages, even without his friends by his side. He wishes at least Juyeon to be there with him, but she's standing so tall next to his General, pretty in her formal wear, and he winces slightly, because it feels so empty with nobody nudging him.

Mingi stood somewhere behind him and the young blond hears him snicker from where somebody is talking to him, and the Captain sighs, fingers careful when he adjusts his plain white shirt ever so slightly. It's good to know that his friend is doing well, after two weeks spent in the base's hospital; Wooyoung is glad to have him back.

On Wooyoung's left stood Jongho, and although they're friends, he feels distant when he glances at the younger boy. He's a "soon to be Captain", just waiting for his promotion to come through, and he's standing tall next to the blond, with a resting bitch face and arms held behind his back, standing straight. He's towering over Wooyoung and it would've been intimidating, if the older wouldn't have known him for so long. The young pilot might be the youngest of all flight crews on the base and at first, Wooyoung was envious of him; Jongho got to fly an aircraft he'd had his eyes onn ever since he'd joined the military, and Wooyoung thought it unfair, when he got a measly Viper instead of the beautiful MiG-29 standing untouched in the hangar furthest from their dorms. He'd been acting jealous toward the younger at first, when he'd joined Wooyoung's crew, but after a while, he'd warmed up to the idea of having the plane in his squadron at the very least. He felt unbeatable in a way.

Pretty often, Jongho would be the one accompanying him and Mingi when it came to randomly assigned missions or patrol, but more often that not, Juyeon from the overseas squadron had joined as well, and she was a very good navigator, when it came to flying over the sea. Despite that, however, Juyeon had been assigned to the tower much more than to her squadrons, and so Wooyoung's crew had to listen to her navigation through the distant transmitter only. It wasn't ideal, but it's something, Wooyoung thinks as he recalls their last flight to the Japanese base in Izumo. Wooyoung admired her, truly.

"We've gathered you all this early in the morning for a special ocassion," The soft, gentle voice of General Lee Taeyong sounds, when the bickering settles, and everyone gathers their attention to listen intently. It's unusual to be lined up like this, ranked from highest to lowest and mixed within; it really must be special, Wooyoung thinks, when there's a loud "shut up" coming from General Jung, whose eyes are burning holes into two soldiers somewhere behind Wooyoung. So much for being a respected man, huh.

"The royal guard had accepted our invitation to come and witness our training, especially our flight crew's work," He continues, and the Captain's ears perk up, eyes widening a bit in curiosity. Usually, when a visit like this comes, the Generals pick out a few pilots responsible for the air show, and Wooyoung had been training hard for it for years now. He'd wanted to be one of the few pilots able to perform, since he'd never had the chance to. It's always a great honor to be one of those pilots and to this day, he recalls the excited whispers of his friends talking about how cool it is to fly for the royals. Juyeon has flown for them before, and she wouldn't stop jumping around excitedly for at least a week after it had happened. "We would love to have General Park Seonghwa and Lieutenants Choi Jongho and Song Mingi to fly under the command of Captain Jeong Wooyoung for this ocassion," General Lee announces then, and Wooyoung feels every single fiber in his body spark with excitement, and there's a million dollar smile tugging on his lips in an instant. He's also pretty sure he could hear Mingi cheer behind him.

The redheaded General then goes on about the mariner shifts, and the Navy brigade to promenade their vehicles, but the pilot doesn't listen, as he feels his feet fidget in place and fingers twitch excitedly. He's desperate to give out his best, and he wouldn't let anyoone nor anything to ruin this moment for him. "Named men and women are now dismissed, please go prepare your vehicles and change into your flight suits. The rest of the crew will now proceed with their own trainings. Please work hard," General Jung concludes, and the crew salutes, before everyone separates.

In an instant, Wooyoung feels a heavy weight on his back and he stumbles forwards, giggling when Mingi shouts words of excitement and praise all over again incoherently, nothing but pure happiness radiating off of him as they stumble towards the hangar to change and check their aircrafts. Soon, the other two pilots join them and accompanied by laughter and small talk, they all get changed and prepared for the flight. But even then, Wooyoung can't stop thinking. He recalls one particular evening, when nobody was in the canteen and he'd had returned from his evening patrol, when he'd heard the two highest ranked Generals talk. They were discussing the royal visit, and from what he'd remembered, they called it "bad news." They were right, he thinks, because whenever they had the royal guard over for a visit, something bad was bound to happen afterwards. It's scary, kind of.

It's when Wooyoung finishes circling his plane, when he speaks up again, requesting the nearby soldiers to prepare the runways, as he'd leave to get permission from their base leaders. Despite Seonghwa being higher ranked than the current crew leader, it was the said crew leader who'd had to gather all the green flags and all the go signs. Wooyoung thinks it exciting then, when he leaves the now open hangar to talk to the leaders hidden underneath a white, large garden tent, shielding them away from the early morning sun. He holds his black helmet underneath his arm and his insignia glows with the golden light when he nears the royals and his Generals, and he salutes when he finally stops nearby. "Dismissed. Your Highness, let me introduce you to Captain Jeong Wooyoung, Commander of our 4th Airlift Squadron," General Lee introduces, and Wooyoung bows deep with a straight face and a thumping heart. He hadn't been this close to the prince even when they'd visited the castle the day before. "We hadn't really introduced you yesterday, I believe. His crew will be performing shortly,"

After they had formally greeted one another, General Jung had excused himself to call the tower for the pass, and Wooyoung was left there to admire the beauty of one Colonel in particular. General Lee was quick to notice, however, and did his best to introduce the two males also, leaving the prince to chuckle at the awkward interaction between the two blushing soldiers. Wooyoung mentally curses at himself for reddening, but shakes his head slightly and bows again.

When Wooyoung gets the pass to take off with his crew, he excuses himself but the hot-headed Colonel is quick to follow for a few steps, huffing the entire walk before he stops the Captain just a few meters away from the higher ranked men. There's a glare thrown Wooyoung's waynand he thinks how much San hadn't changed, in the end, and he smirks, waiting for whatever the Colonel had to say. "Whoever gave you that title must've been either drunk, or totally out of their mind, Captain Jeong," he growls, and although it should've been an insult, Wooyoung hears the playfulness behind the tone. San then steps an inch closer and the Captain's smirk grows wider, before he places a finger underneath the Colonel's chin to turn his head up slightly, with a teasing gaze burning holes into him.

"Yet you still see me flying, sweetheart,"
