Fate Comes Calling
The words that tumbled out from the God's mouth made Finn freeze, his mouth dropping open in shock.
"I can give you your sight back."
"What?! How?!" He stuttered, stumbling backwards, tripping over the rug he couldn't see but instead of the harsh impact he was bracing himself for, he found himself in a set of arms. Flix had caught him, and apparently transported him away, at least that was what Finn was guessing from the lack of breathing aside from his and Flix's own. Gods needed to breathe too, surprisingly enough.
"I'm a God, duh." Flix said, rolling his pink eyes as he placed the boy down on the black sofa situated in the middle of the posh-looking room. "I can do things that you poor little werewolves can't."
"No need to be snarky about it."
"I don't need to hear that from a toddler." He sighed, sitting opposite him.
"I'm not a toddler!"
"To me you are."
Finn's shoulders sunk. "You said something about fixing my eyes..."
"Right you are, Finny-kins."
"Don't call me that."
"I'll call you whatever I like."
"Fine, Flixy-bear."
"You can't call me that!" He scowled. "I'm a God. Show some respect."
"And I'm your everyday werewolf child. Respect that."
"Do you want your eyes fixed or not?" Flix asked, folding his arms, crossing one leg over the other. "Because I can guarantee you'll be dead in five years without them. Trust me. I've seen all of your different fates."
"There's got to be some sort of price..." Finn's voice was small, his teeth chewing on his lip, one of his many nervous habits.
"Your Alpha Eyes will be suppressed." He said. "So it will be ridiculously difficult to use them."
"But I'll die if I don't take you up on this offer, won't I?"
"Yep." He shrugged. "Sorry, toddler. There's nothing much I can do without breaking some of the God's Laws."
"Gods have laws?"
"We aren't a bunch of savages, you know." Flix folded his arms, staring around the opulent living room they were standing in. Pink rugs adorned the floor, black sofas dotted around in the centre of the four book-shelf lined walls. "But we made a vow a long time ago to keep interference in your world to a minimum..."
"Why?" Finn turned his sightless eyes on the God.
"Because of a mistake we Gods made." He said, knowing he could trust the boy with the information. He was the God of Fate, and with that came the knowledge that ten years down the line he'd have completely forgotten everything about their little meeting. "We elevated one of your kind to the level of a God, and in return he rebelled against us... The power-hungry tyke wasn't satisfied with the amount we'd given him..." Flix shrugged. "Eventually we trapped him, but unfortunately things which are sealed away have a habit of breaking loose." He smiled tightly. "Oh well... but anyway, do you want me to fix your eyes or what?"
"Yes." The boy spoke cautiously. "But I want to know something in return."
"What is it?" He tilted his head. "I haven't got all day."
"How am I supposed to protect myself if my Alpha Eyes are gone?"
Pink eyes rolled. "Get some nice muscles. Learn some fighting skills. You know... All that obvious stuff which you seemed to have overlooked." He drawled. "There's more to being an Alpha than those eyes I gave all of you brats. Besides, you'll have your mate as insurance." A finger poked his forehead. "And trust me when I say that she's a real firecracker."
"Firecracker?"
"She's gonna light up your life, kiddo." Flix smiled. "And whether she burns your relationship to ashes is all down to you."
