First Day

"Haru! We need to go or we're going to be late!" I shout from the front door.

"I can't find my contacts!" she yells back.

"Then use grandpa's glasses! We need to go!" I rush, heaving my bag over my shoulder and grabbing the two blueberry muffins from the counter. "I got your muffin! Let's go!"

"Fine! Coming!" she yells, running to the front door.

"What are you wearing?! You look homeless!"

"I'm sorry I woke up late. I didn't have time to look good," Haru complains.

"Ughh! You didn't even brush your hair..."

"Who am I trying to impress?"

"All the rich kids! Duh!" I complain. "Having rich friends is totally unorthodox!"

"Gold digger," Haru snorts, locking the door behind us.

"Haru-chan! I'm not a gold digger! It's just the ability to brag about it," I whine. "Like I can use my rich friend to get connections and shit like that."

"I know I was kidding."

"Whatever, just eat your muffin," I mumble and stuff her muffin in her face. "Eat and run!"

~~~
The final bell rings right as we enter our class. We sigh in relief.
"You must be the new scholarship students," the teacher says. "I'm Yamato-sensei please introduce yourselves to the class."
"Hi! I'm Harumi, but you can call me Rumi. I got in on a music scholarship. This is Haruhi and got in on an academic scholarship. We're the Fujioka twins!" I greet.
"It's nice to meet you," Yamato-sensei says. "There's two empty seats in the back next the Hitachiin twins."
~~~

Right now, it's study hall for the whole school, which is only 15 minutes, so Haru and I decided to scope out where our last two classes away from each other are. That means I'm wandering through the halls by myself, swerving around all the rich kids. I eventually find the room I'm looking for, piano room 2. Checking how much time is left, I decide to go in, since I have about 8 minutes left. Nobody is inside, so I go straight to the piano to practice a short piece from a Disney movie. I begin singing once it's time.

"Flower, gleam and glow
Let your power shine
Make the clock reverse
Bring back what once was mine

Heal what has been hurt
Change the Fates' design
Save what has been lost
Bring back what once was mine

What once was mine"

When I finish I hear clapping, which shocks me and makes me fall off the piano bench. Whoever was clapping quickly comes over and helps me up.

"I'm sorry, mademoiselle. I didn't mean to scare you. I just heard someone playing the piano when I was walking by, so I decided to come and listen to them. It turns out she had the voice of an angel too," he says and helps me up.

The bell rings signaling that students have 4 more minutes to get to their next class. I quickly gather my things before I look at the boy. Tall blond with violet eyes, beautiful. I blush realizing how attractive the boy is.

"T-thank you for the compliment and for helping me up. Bye!" I quickly say and rush out the room to my next class.

~~~
We close the door to the fourth library that's full of loud, talkative students.
"This place has four library rooms! You'd think one of them would be quiet!" I yell, growing annoyed.
"I'm beginning to think that rich kids only come to school to have a good time," Haru sighs.
"I need to practice!" I shout out in the empty hallways.
"And I need to get a head start on studying!"
We continue down the halls. This is the longest first day ever. At the moment, it's lunch period and we're trying to look for a silent room that we can study/practice/eat in. Haru likes to study when I practice my works. She says it relaxes and calms her. It also helps her concentrate on her studies.
"Look music rooms!" I shout and point. Before us are four music rooms. Hopefully one has a piano and nobody else in it. I lean my head against the first room's door. "Loud." The second one. "Noisy."
"I'll check out the third room and you check out the fourth?" Haru suggests.
"Sure," I comply and make my way to the fourth room. "Silence." Shuffling my books to one hand I reach for the door handle, twisting the knob and entering. "Score! Abandoned and has a piano!" I quickly rush up to the piano, set my books on the bench next to me, and finally begin playing the tune I made up today.
After marking the rhythm, chords, and beat to the piece, I realize that Haru never came in. That's when a feeling of discord washes over me, telling me Haru's in trouble. I shove my stuff together quickly and rush out the room towards music room 3. I throw open the door in distress.
"Oh, now you've done it, commoner. The bidding for that vase was supposed to start at 8 million y–."
"Haru! Are you okay?! Are you hurt?!" I yell, rushing to her, completely oblivious to all the other people in the room. "I felt something was off after you didn't come to the room and came rushing to you! Is everything okay?!" She looks dazed as a shake her. "Haru-chan?!"
"*Ahem*"
The clearing of a throat brings my attention away from Haruhi to realize all the extremely hot, sexy, and rich boys a couple feet away from us.
"Whoa! When did you get here?!" I shout, pushing Haru behind me protectively.
"We've been here the whole time," the twins from our class say.
"You're those twins who're in our class," I mumble.
"Excuse me, but who're you?" the boy with glasses asks.
"I could ask you the same, Mr. Glasses," I huff.
"I'm Kyoya Ootori, vice president of this club." He points to each person while saying their name. "Mitsukuni Haninozuka and Takashi Morinozuka they're cousins and both third years."
"You can just call me Honey and he goes by Mori!" Honey says with a big smile.
(Third year? Seriously?)
"You already know the twins, Hikaru and Kaoru Hitachiin."
"Hello, beautiful," they say together.
I, most likely, am a shade of red now. Damn sexy identical twins.
"Then the king of this club Tam–"
"My name is Tamaki Suoh the king and president of this club! It's nice to meet you, beautiful princess!" he exclaims, taking my hand with closed eyes and kisses the back of it. "What is your name, my beautiful girl?" He looks up at me and his eyes widen. "You're the angel that was playing on the piano!"
"So this is the one you've been talking all day about," Kyoya says.
It's him. If my face wasn't already red than it definitely is red now. Shit, he's extremely attractive. More than the others in this room. Freaking Godly beauty or something. "I'm–"
"She's Haruhi's twin sister," Kyoya says, after figuring it out. I'm guessing he got the information from that computer he's looking at. "You're Harumi Fujioka, twin of Haruhi and got in on a music scholarship."
"Call me Rumi," I say.
"She creates her own music, both lyrics and composer. She plays piano," Kyoya adds.
"Which you play beautifully!" Tamaki exclaims excitedly. "Maybe we can play together sometime."
"Anyway, we're ignoring the matter at hand here," Kyoya says before I could get to reply to Tamaki. "The broken 8 million yen vase?"
"What, 8 million yen? How many thousand yen is that? How many thousands are in 8 million? ...I'm gonna have to pay you back..." Haruhi groans.
"With what money? You can't even afford a school uniform," the twins nonchalantly reply.
"Whoa, what?!" I shout confused. Honey points to the broken vase on the ground. I turn to Haru and begin shaking her. "What'd you do?! Look at what you've done! This wasn't how we were supposed to interact with the rich!"
"What's with that grubby outfit anyway?" one of the twins say.
"Well, what do you think we should do, Tamaki?" Kyoya asks.
"There's a famous saying you may have heard, Fujioka twins," Tamaki says, sitting down in a chair and propping his head up with his arm all the while with his eyes closed. He points his finger at us. "When in Rome, you should do as the Romans do."
"Stupid..." I grumble.
"Since you have no money, you can pay with your body!" he exclaims.
"Excuse me?!" I shout. "You better rephrase that!"
He shrinks back away from me and gulps. "W-what I m-mean is t-that you will b-be our errand boy, starting today!"
~~~

Well, after that incident it was time Haru and I parted ways for the day to our different classes. I went to chorus then my last class, piano. Can you guess who was also in my class? If you guessed the blond bimbo with the looks of a God, you were right. Tamaki Suoh was in my music class and the last seat was the one right next to his. Apparently, he saved the seat for me because he got my schedule from that guy with the glasses... Uh... What was his name again? Koi? Kiori? Kyo... Kyoya! That's it. I don't very much like him.

"Harumi! I saved you a seat!" Tamaki yells, causing all the attention to be turned towards me. More than half are girls glaring at me. Ha, jealous bitches.

I blush and sheepishly walk over with my head down. "T-thanks."

"No problem. Did you know that you and Haruhi's names have only one letter different from each other?"

"Of course I do."

"I'd get so confused if I had a twin with a similar spelled name," he says. "Anyway, did you know that your name means spring beauty and Haruhi's means spring day?"

"I've been told."

"It's just so fascinating to me."

"Miss Fujioka?" the music teacher calls out.

"Yes?" I question.

"I'm told that you're here on a music scholarship. Would you mind to come up and play a piece on the piano to start the class off?"

"I would be honored to," I say and make my way to the front. I sit down at the piano and set my hands in position. "I call this Door of My Dreams. I made this once I got the letter that said I made it into Ouran Academy on a music scholarship."

I begin playing and the whole room goes silent. I take a peek at the crowd of students to see them with their eyes closed moving their heads in tune to the song. That's a really good sign. Then I look at Tamaki, who's totally enthralled in the music. I finish it up and a round of applause resounds throughout the room; Tamaki's clap being the loudest.

"That was beautiful, Harumi!" the teacher exclaims.

I smile and bow. "Thank you!"

Tamaki has a big goofy grin on his face the whole way back to my seat next to him.

"That was fantastique!" he exclaims.

"French?"

"Yes, you speak it?" he asks.

"I took classes when I was younger. What about you?"

"I'm half French and half Japanese."

"That explains a lot actually," I admit. "Your hair and eye color are not Japanese."

He chuckles. "My eyes are an odd color."

"Odd, but beautiful and mesmerizing," I say then clap my hands over my mouth, realizing what I just said. My face feels hot.

He chuckles again. "I'm glad you think so, princess. Anyway, does your brother play piano too?"

"Brother?" I ask confused.

"Your twin? Haruhi."

"Haru isn't a–"

"Alright, quiet down kids. Let's start today's lesson," the teacher cuts me off.

I can't believe he thinks Haru is a boy. I knew I should've made her brush her hair and change clothes! I wonder if the rest of the club thinks Haru's a boy?

~~~
Haru and I were told to go to the store and bring back what was on the list. We're on our way back now.
"Yeah, Tamaki-senpai is in my piano class and he saved a seat for me!" I fuss.
"Really?"
"Yeah! It was so embarrassing! All the girls in there started glaring at me!" I say. "Twig bitches."
We open the doors to the club room with the bags of food and other items.
"Speak of the Devils. Thanks for doing the shopping, little piglets. Did you get everything on our list?" Tamaki says, getting up from his area.
(He was talking about us? Wait, piglets?!) "Excuse me?! Do not call us piglets!" I yell.
He ignores me and looks inside the bag. "Hey, wait a minute. What is this?" he asks and pulls out the coffee container.
"It's coffee, dimwit," I answer.
"I've never seen this brand before. Is this the kind that's already ground?"
"What do you mean? It's instant coffee," Haruhi says.
"Commoner's coffee! I've heard all you have to do is add hot water," Tamaki says.
Then they go on this whole rant. Everyone crowds around us to look at the box of coffee.
"We'll go back and get something else. Excuse us for not buying you guys expensive coffee," Haru and I say together.
"No, I'll keep it. I'm going to give it a try." Everyone gasps. "I will drink this coffee!" Tamaki shouts, standing up and lifting the box in the air. Everyone starts to clap in awe. "Haruhi and Harumi, get over here and make some."
"Damn rich people," Haru and I say.
"Oh Tamaki, now you're taking the joke too far. Your palate won't be able to stomach that crap. You don't have to drink it just because they bought it," some girl nearby says. I make eye contact with her. "I'm sorry. I was talking to myself."
"Really? It didn't sound like it. It sounded like you were being rude and talking shit about commoner's," I scoff. "Just because you have money doesn't make you any better than anyone else."
"Rumi?" Haru calls.
I glare at the girl while she looks at me shocked, but it turns into a scowl before I go to where Haru's at. I notice that her knuckles turned white she was gripping her cup so tight from irritation. I smirk.
"Coming, Haru!"
After the whole commoner's coffee thing, we settle back to how it normally is. Haru and I watch as the Hitachiin twins get all close and personal, and the girls go wild.
"What are they so excited about? I just don't get it," Haru says.
"I know right," I say. "It's kinda disturbing to watch. I feel like I'm watching some dirty por–"
"Rumi!" Haru yells, cutting me off.
"What? You know it's true."
Honey comes in with Mori, apologizing for being late.
"Third year, huh?" Haru grumbles.
That's when Kyoya decides to come from the shadows. "Honey-senpai may seem young and childish, but he's a prodigy. And then Mori-senpai's allure is his strong and silent disposition."
"Geez! Where the hell do you come from?!" I fuss.
He chuckles, sounding like some kind of devil.
Honey comes rushing up, crashing into us and swinging around before plopping down in front of us. "Haru-chan! Rumi-chan! Hey, Haru-chan, Rumi-chan, do you wanna go have some cake with me?"
"Thanks, but I don't really like cake," Haru and I say dazed.
"Then, how would you like to hold my bunny, Usa-chan?"
"I'm not into bunnies..." Haru says wearily.
"Are you saying you don't like Usa-chan?" he whines and tears begin forming in his eyes.
I nudge Haru and she leans down to look at the held out bunny. "I guess he is kinda cute."
I watch as Honey's eyes widen and he peeks up over his rabbit. I giggle. He must've just realized Haru's a girl.
"Take good care of him, okay?" he squeals, places his bunny in her arms, and rushes back to his area to roll in a costumer's lap.
Kyoya begins talking about the debt, but I zone out. I come back once Tamaki comes over.
"You need a makeover, or no girl's ever going to look at you twice," Tamaki says.
"Yeah, well, I'm not trying to get girls to look at me," Haru whines.
I giggle.
"Are you kidding me? That's the most important thing. You have to learn to be a gentleman and please the ladies like me."
Then they get into this whole conversation and I look at Haru while Tamaki is blabbing. She looks deep in thought.
"I think the word you're looking for is obnoxious," I whisper in her ear.
"That's it!"
"Oh, did I strike a chord?" Tamaki asks curiously.
"Obnoxious."
Tamaki goes and slouches in the corner.
"Aww, you made him all sad," I say.
Again I zone out. I'm doing that a lot lately.
"You can teach him all the basics of hosting," Kaoru, I believe, says.
"But he's not going to get very far with the ladies if he doesn't look the part, you know. He's not exactly host club material, but maybe if we took off his glasses, it'd help," Hikaru says, taking off my imouto's glasses. The hosts gather around to see Haru.
"Hey, I need those. I used to have contacts, but I lost them this morning," she whines.
"Hikaru, Kaoru," Tamaki snaps.
"Got it!" they say and rush off.
They get all wound up running around getting things. Honey goes and slouches at a table with his bunny when Tamaki tells him to eat cake.
"Oh, poor Honey..." I say. I watch as the twins push Haru behind a curtain to the changing room. "Oh no! That's my baby sister!" I rush into the room behind them.
"Change into this!" they command.
"What? Why?" Haru asks.
"Don't ask questions."
"No way!" I shout and jump in between them. I grab the outfit and shove them out. "You have to get out!" I watch as imaginary lightbulbs pop up over their heads. They know now too.
"This is ridiculous," Haru complains.
After all the drama, Haru turns out to look like an attractive boy. Weird, I know. Well, she's a host starting now.
...
The next day... Haru's currently hosting some girls. I laugh at her awkwardness and unknowing of what to do. I smirk, let's play the act like the Hitachiin twins game.
"Otouto!" I shout and rush over to Haru and plop down in her lap. "This is where you were! I've been sooo worried about you!" I wink at her secretly. She gets the message and plays back.
"I'm sorry for worrying you so much. I didn't mean to..." she says with fake tears.
I tilt her chin up with my finger. "You can make it up to me when we get home..."
The girls squeal. "S-so... Uh, Haruhi, do you have any hobbies?" a girl asks. They ask all these questions.
I wrap my arms around Haru's neck and face the girls as they ask us all these different questions. The topic changes. (Wait, I know!) I lean down to Haru's ear and whisper. "I know just the story to tell them." So we do. The story of our mother. They look at us with tears in their eyes.
"...So... Uh... Can we request you guys again tomorrow?" the ladies ask.
"We'd appreciate it," Haru and I say.
I listen to the conversation the hosts are having across the room.
"How are they so popular?" Tamaki asks.
"They're naturals," Kyoya comments.
"Did you not see that they stole our act?!" the twins complain, causing me to smirk. "Look Rumi's smirking! She knows we know!"
Tamaki calls us over, snapping his fingers, and introduces us to the bitch I scolded yesterday. Apparently, she's a real princess.
"It's a pleasure to meet you," Haru and I say with large fake smiles.
"That was so cute!" Tamaki yells and goes for a hug with both of us in it. I dodge and he grabs just Haru. He starts going on about how cute it was while spinning in circles.
Haru calls out to Mori to save her and that's how he realizes Haru's a girl, when he picks her up.
I pull her from Mori's grasp quickly then glare at him. He looks away sheepishly. Men! Ughh. They're all pervs no matter what!
The club has only a couple more minutes till it's over. I get bored and try to find my bag to grab my pen to write music, but discover it's not where I left it. I sigh and look out the window in annoyance to notice my bag in the pond. I having a feeling of who did it. I run out the room to the fountain and pass the bitch on the way there.
"Oh, it's you again. I bet you love having Tamaki making your brother over and fawning over you. It's useless though. You're always going to be a second class citizen," she scoffs.
"You think you're so fucking brilliant, don't you? I laugh at twig bitches like you because, in the end, you're going to be the butt of the joke. You'll get what's coming to you and you totally deserve it when it does," I reply then run off to get my bag. I take off my shoes and socks, roll my pants up, and get in the pond to collect all my belongings. "Where the hell is my journal?!"
"Hey, Rumi! You've got some nerve skipping out on the club like that. Whoa, why is your bag all wet?" Tamaki asks, running up.
"That bitch, Ayanokoji..." I mumble. He takes off his socks and shoes, rolls up his pants, and gets in with me. "What're you doing? You don't have to do that. You'll get wet."
"A little water never hurt anyone. Besides, people are always telling me that I'm dripping with good looks. Oh, is this what you're looking for?" he asks and holds up my soaked journal. I stare at him in awe, mainly at his beautiful violet orbs. He waves a hand in front of my face. "What's the matter? You're staring off into space. You're not falling for me, are you?"
(I might.) I scoff. "No way."
"How'd your bag end up in the pond anyway?" he asks.
"Someone who's jealous of me being near you," I answer, looking towards the window where I know the bitch is. He stares at me blankly. That's when I get an idea to make the bitch even more jealous. I walk up to Tamaki and wrap my arms around his neck as much as I can from my smaller stature of 5'1" compared to his 6'0" height. "Look who's staring off into space now." I giggle. "You're not falling for me, are you?" His cheeks tint pink and I take my journal from his hands while he's distracted. I pack all my stuff back into my soaked bag. I'm lucky there wasn't any of my technology inside at the time. I look back at Tamaki who's still blushing like a school boy. "Earth to Tamaki-senpai, you there?"
He shakes his head and smacks his cheeks to try and stop blushing. "S-Sorry! L-let's go b-back to the club room!"
...
The next day in the host club the bitch requests Haru and I.
(Why did she request us if she obviously doesn't like us? She's planning something to make us look bad I bet.)
Next thing I know, she pulls Haru on top of her and claims she's being attacked by Haru. That's when the twins pour two pitchers of water on top of her, which makes Haru wet too.
Tamaki walks over and lifts her up.
"Do something, Tamaki. Haruhi just assaulted me," she cries.
"I'm disappointed in you. You threw Rumi's bag in the pond, didn't you?" Tamaki claims.
"You don't know that. Do you have any proof that I did?"
"You know, you're a beautiful girl. But you aren't classy enough to be our guest, dear. If there's one thing I know, Haruhi is not that kind of man." Tamaki shakes his head.
She cries, fusses at Tamaki, then runs out the room. I help Haru up while all the girls leave, for the club hours are over.
Kyoya comes over with a red bag. "This is the only spare uniform we have. Sorry, but it's better than a wet one, right?"
"Thanks a lot, you guys. I'm gonna go change," Haru says.
"I'll help," I say and follow her in. "I have a spare bra in my bag." I pull it out and hand it to her.
"Thanks."
Right as she's finished changing into the new bra and puts on the tank top that goes underneath the dress, Tamaki walks in. Good thing she still had pants on.
"Haruhi, I found some towels that you can..." Tamaki says, but stops after seeing Haru.
"Get out!" I shout and physically kick him out of the room. "Perv!"
"I guess he knows now, huh?"
"Finally. Idiot," I mumble. "I didn't know that he'd have to actually see you half naked before he figured it out though."
She changes into the banana yellow dress and we walk out to a red faced Tamaki.
"So, you're a girl?" he asks.
"Biologically speaking, yeah. Listen, senpai, I don't really care whether you guys recognize me as a boy or girl. In my opinion, it's more important for a person to be recognized for who they are rather than for what sex they are."
"Wise words from my imouto! But I care! I want people to know you as a girl! We're identical twins for a reason!"
"You're identical?" the twins ask.
Haruhi and I take the same stance as they do. The arms and hips joined together stance. "As identical as you," we say.
"Don't copy our thing!" they fuss.
"Don't copy our thing!" we say. "We were born first anyway."
They huff and quickly run off into the dressing room.
"You don't look that much alike," Honey says.
"Well, a couple days ago some freaking boy stuck gum in Haru's hair, so I had to cut it for her," I explain. "We looked exactly alike like 4 days ago."
"Found it!" the twins yell and run over with a brown wig. They place it on Haru's head. "Whoa. You can't tell the difference."
The hosts all stare at us in awe.
"It's incredible how a hair cut can make you look so different," Kyoya says.
"Can I take it off now? It's getting kinda itchy," Haru complains.
"Sure," the twins say and pull it off.
"Well, Rumi can take the uniform from you once you wash yours," Kyoya says.
"You're giving me the uniform?" I ask. "And what's the catch?"
"Smart one. You will host along with Haruhi with the act Forbidden Sibling Love," Kyoya says.
"Of course..." I groan.
"That and you'll be our entertainment," he adds.
"And I'll be joining you," Tamaki says. "We'll both play piano."
"Oh great," I reply sarcastically.
"Hmmm... You know, being fussed over by a bunch of girls may not be that bad. I wonder how I could pull it off?" She thinks and smacks her fist into her hand. "I've got it! I'll just call everyone dude and bro now," Haru says and giggles.
"No! Bad Haruhi!" Tamaki and I scold.
