Chapter One: Something Amiss
Violet grew to be a kindhearted and happy girl, the spitting image of her father. Her mother had told her that no one could know about her powers... Not even her friends. One day, after needle work class, her friend Helen had asked why her parents were so strict. She had replied to her, "I would explain, but you wouldn't believe me..." She said as she walked inside.
"Acctually, I think I do understand..." Helga said softly. Violet looked at her curiously, suddenly a wall of rock came up around Helga. Violet started banging against it with clenched fists. Violet shivered as the fire began to die down. "Once, when I was a little girl," her mother continued. "I had a friend, Sh- wHAT DiD yOU to YoUR LeG?!?" Violet looked down to where blood was pouring out of her leg. "Madelyn!" Her mother called the maid. "See to my daughters wound please." Without another word she went to her room.
As Madelyn bound her wound, Violet thought about what Helga had said. "I'm just like you." She leaned her head against the back of the chair and let herself sleep. Her dreams were filled with the taunting face of Helga, reaching out for her...
