*
"you look fine sweetheart." jimin rolled his eyes as he reassured his wife. she had been trying on outfits for over 15 minutes and jimin was fed up.
"i'm just a bit worried, i haven't seen rose in a few." she looked at herself in the mirror once again, fixing her dress. "it's just a foe, it'll be alright. there's no big deal, after all, she did see you at your worst and at your best. it doesn't matter, she won't judge." jimin spoke again, this time he shifted his attention from kyung for a book he had on his nightstand. first love by MY.
"i hope so." lying looked at herself one last time, adjusting her her hair and smiling to herself. "there's nothing to fear, but if you're ready, then shall we go?" jimin asked, his attention still on the book. kyung shook her head and started walking towards the door.
jimin waited a bit before standing up from his chair and walking towards the door.
jimin nodded and headed towards the door, jimin followed along.
he stepped outside, he felt the wind hit him once again. "fall." he mumbled and waited for kyung to grab her things. "it's chilly out." he slightly raised his voice for kyung to hear. he wasn't planning on giving his jacket out to her. he knew if he did he would be the one getting sick. and unfortunately, he can't afford to do so.
once she was out jimin tried his best to remember where rose's flat was. after a bit of thinking he decided to trust his instincts. they made their way towards yoongi's flat, hand in hand.
*
"is everything ready?" rose mumbled to herself, making sure everything was in place. she walked back and forward making sure everything looked presentable. yoongi stared at her from the couch he sat in. he raised an eyebrow in confusion, studying her a bit more before realising she was tensed, a little too nervous for comfort.
yoongi wasn't the type to reassure someone, he didn't like it. because he knew if he did then it would come back and bite him in the arse. it's true that he was rather careless and emotionless, at least that's how most people described him. a cold hearted person with no single care in the world. he wouldn't disagree, it would be too much of a hassle to do so. knowing that if he were to make someone feel better than the person would always expect that. he did do it from time to time, though never sincerely. it wasn't worth it.
"why are you so worried?" yoongi asked, slightly irritated. "they're your old friends, nothing new. don't need to get all edgy." he coldly spoke. "it's not like we're meeting them for the first time. you're being a distraction so please, give me some time."
rose stared at him, her mouth slightly open. she nervously laughed, she didn't like to irritate yoongi. it was something she didn't like, she always strived to please him. "you're right, i'm just anxious." she put her arms behind her and rubbed her hand. she quietly spoke. "sorry."
yoongi sighed. he hated when rose was submissive. it brought no joy or fun. he didn't like it but it's not like he could speak his mind out. he stopped and thought for a second. he wondered if he ever encountered someone interesting, someone who caught his attention without any effort. jimins was the first person to come to mind when he thought of something interesting or rather a broken mystery and he was still the first to come to mind when he thought of someone catching his attention.
he didn't understand whether it was his charisma that attracted him or the way he acted, his virtue? jimin acted like he had everything set out for him, a wife, friends, a life— he was happy or presumed to be. but yoongi was quick to notice that it was all a big play to jimin. whether jimin realised it or not. he looked bored, truthfully who wouldn't be if they had to always follow what society says and act a certain way. everything was mundane. from the first moment he first laid eyes on him he noticed this.
yoongi sighed and dragged his gaze towards a book, filter, he stared at it a little longer, he smiled. he knew jimin was coming, it excited him for some unknown reason.
"perhaps this could be a wonderful night." yoongi stood up from his couch. "i mean, after all there's some pretty interesting people."
"that is what i expect." she nervously laughed. she fixed herself one last time and took a look around. after a few seconds passed she heard a knock on the door. "must be them." she let a relief breath out and rushed towards the door. yoongi walked behind him, a little slower. he looked at rose open the door and brought his gaze directly at jimin. he and jimin locked eyes for a mere second. yoongi smirked as he walked closer.
"hello, kyung." rose smiled, she stared at kyung. they stared at each other before she shook her head and hugged her. "it's nice to see you too rose." kyung mumbled as he hugged her, both yoongi and jimin noticed the hug was a little longer that it shouldve been.
yoongi made way and got closer to jimin. standing face to face. he smirked when he noticed jimin's slight tinted cheeks.
"it's nice to see you again, jimin, right?" yoongi gave a smug smile. "i'm sorry, what was your name again? pardon me for not remembering." jimin chuckled, as he glared at him.
"so hateful?" yoongi raised his eyebrow, smirking, he got a little closer to jimin, putting his hand out; greeting him. "rather, careful. wouldn't you say meeting new people is rather scary. you never know their intentions." jimin gave a sly smile. "you know each other?" kyung asked, furring her eyebrows as she stared at them. "unfortunately" jimin thought.
"i guess you could say that." jimin smiled as he turned to her. yoongi stared at him for a little longer before turning to kyung.
yoongi stared at her. she was wearing red pocket dot dress. he slowly brought his gaze up analysing her. she was built like a doll. she was pretty, he wouldn't lie but she looked mundane.
"pardon me, where are my manners?" yoongi chuckled. "hello, kyung, it's nice to meet you." he grabbed kyung hand's, giving a kiss. rose stared at them. her expression dropped but she quickly shook it off. kyung blushed.
jimin glared at yoongi. he felt a bit envious, not getting why. "why don't you help me?" rose interrupted. kyung turned to her and nodded. rose grabbed kyung, bringing her towards the kitchen.
jimin rolled his eyes. "would you want one?" yoongi whispered loud enough for jimin to hear. "i rather die."
"harsh words from someone so sensitive." he chuckled. "sensitive?"
"yes. unless, i'm wrong." yoongi walked towards the kitchen table: jimin following along. yoongi sat down, and jimin sat across from him.
"i don't really like you." jimin spoke. "was that meant to hurt my feelings? if it did then i guess i don't have any." yoongi shrugged. "though i'll admit, the feeling is quite mutual. i don't really get it, all admit you're etheral so i assumed that was the problem but it wasn't. i wonder why you interest me and irritate me at the same time."
"i'm a man of many secrets." jimin teased. "i'm well aware of that. i mean, everyone has secrets, wouldnt you say that kiss from yesterday is also a secret?" yoongi has a smug face. "it was a game, a simple kiss. it meant nothing, don't think too hard about it." jimin shrugged. yoongi sighed not wanting to press the subject any longer.
"ever been in love?" yoongi asked. "i like to believe i am." jimin answered back, he didn't seem interested in the topic.
honestly speaking jimin knew he had never been in love. he doesn't believe in it, to him it's something that doesn't exist.
"believe. if you have to believe you are then you aren't." he spoke rather fast noticing kyung and rose walking in with food. they both set the food down.
"i like to think differently, whether i am or not is none of your concern. wouldn't you say, it's not too fancy to interfere in someone else's problem." jimin huffed. "look who's got me pegged." yoongi bitterly laughed. "i'm not interfering, just asking. after all, people's feelings change all the time. one minute you're in love the next you're bored." he said casually.
rose face became noticeably sad for a mere second. she didn't speak and sat down. yoongi felt the tension in the room rise, it was unbearable. it felt like he was suffocating. he glanced at jimin, who looked more tensed.
rose cleared her throat and tried to ease the situation. she put a fake smile on and talked. "it seems like you're getting along quite nicely." rose nervously laughed. yoongi nodded and continued eating. a few seconds went by before she spoke again.
"so jimin, what do you do for a living?" rose asked, taking a sip of her wine. "i'm a lawyer." he answered. "and a writer on his free time." kyung giggles.
"a writer?" yoongi questioned. "yes, a writer." jimin looked down. "that's interesting. i'm surprised you didn't mention it, well, why don't you tell me more?" yoongi smiled, setting his utensils down. jimin didn't say anything but looked at yoongi, embarrassed. "so, i'm waiting." yoongi stared at jimin, he rested his face on his palm. he continued staring, noticing how jimin seemed to be nervous.
jimin cleared his throat and talked. "she is correct. i do write, on my free time. yet i don't really like to talk about my works. you've probably read them or not, i don't know your preferences." he nervously smiled.
"if you tell the name then i would probably tell you. i doubt someone like you would make for a good story." yoongi glared at him. "i could say the same about you." jimin glared at yoongi. he didn't get why his comment ticked him off.
"it would be a pleasant surprise if you could make something so good. i have yet to see your names in any books, i'm quite familiar with the authors worlds." yoongi took his drink and brought it to his mouth.
"have you ever once stop and thought i don't use my name." jimin smiled back. "i won't lie, i have seen some of your works. i've yet to touch them, they're not of any interest to me if i must say." he lied.
"i'm still waiting for a name." yoongi spat. kyung and rose looked at each other, confused. "confidential." jimin teased. "i don't see what the big secret is. it's not like you're the author i compete with, i doubt you would ever compare to them. i'll admit, i don't know much about them other than their works but somehow their art attracts me. i have yet to see his face, but what they should know it's that i won't lose top spot to someone like them."
"if it's not too much trouble then may i know his name?" jimin asked. "P.J. that's all i know." yoongi spoke.
jimin started laughing. "i don't see what's so funny." yoongi said coldly. "so you're suga, i'm sorry that's incorrect, MY right?" jimin asked. "correct." yoongi said, confused.
"then from author to author, it's nice to meet you, i'm park jimin, or better known as PJ." jimin crossed his legs, and smirked.
yoongi abruptly stood up from his chair. "nonsense, how can you be them?" yoongi slightly raised his voice. "what else can i say?" jimin snickered. "it's not funny to make jokes like that."
yoongi stopped and thought for a second. he had read some of his works, and he'll admit they're quite difficult to understand. well, not understand rather, known exactly what jimin is referring to. it took him by surprise, never did he expect to find out jimin's secret so early.
"it's no joke." jimin gave a sly smile. "can i have a word with you?" yoongi asked, he pushed his chair in and signalled jimin to walk with him.. "if you must." jimin sighed and stood up. he followed yoongi out.
once out he sighed, he felt the cold air hit him once again. he looked directly at yoongi, noticing how the wind moved his hair gracefully. he noticed how yoongi for a moment had a soft expression on his face as he deeply stared at jimin. his heart started beating up again, this time faster than the last. he shook his head trying to understand what's wrong with him.
yoongi cleared his throat. "your wife doesn't know what you write about, isn't that right?" he asked, tilting his head.
"wouldn't you say you're the same?" jimin smiled. "your wife doesn't know you write about someone who you love isn't that correct? from what i can tell you don't love her, if you did your books would mention her but rather they mention a secret lover? maybe not lover but someone who you fancy." yoongi smirked.
"i can say the same about you. you think you intimidate me? you don't. your books, theyre quite vulgar wouldn't you say. you make it seem like you're talking about your wife when in reality your talking about someone else. wouldn't you same we're in the same boat." jimin clicked his tongue. "so who is it? a man or woman?" jimin teased.
"my little secret." yoongi winked. "i'll tell you mine if you tell me yours." jimin proposed. "how about a meeting, tomorrow, cafe." yoongi answered. "i'll take you up on that offer. now if you don't mind, i'll like to get back to my flat as soon as possible."
yoongi nodded and went back inside with jimin. yoongi sighed and sat on the table once again. "a little dispute doesn't hurt anyone, isn't that right?"
"if you believe so." jimin laughed. "i like to believe, those who deserve to be on top are on top. survival of the fittest, or rather, natural selection." jimin spoke. "and that's why i'll end up on top of you." yoongi mocked. jimin glared at him.
"i think we should leave." kyung tugged on jimin's sleeve. jimin noticed how confused she looked and nodded.
rose walked with them, greeting them out.
"you were right, that was quite interesting." yoongi smirked. rose frowned and went to her bedroom.
"is everything alright?" kyung asked. "yes, don't worry love." jimin held her hand and walked home. "i have a few meetings tomorrow, don't wait up for me." jimin said walking back to his home.
*
"good morning." yoongi greeted jimin as he walked inside the cafe. "good morning indeed." jimin mocked. "i don't really see why so early. there's nothing good happening around this time."
"correct. i'm more surprised you managed to clear your schedule, i'm pretty sure your day off was yesterday." yoongi fixed himself, so he sat in front of jimin. he lean his head on his palms, scrunching his nose to jimin's scent. he smelt like strawberries.
yoongi enjoyed strawberries. they were palatable.
"and yet here i am. amazing, isn't it?" jimin smiled. "you did that for me? that's rather splendid, i didn't think i meant so much to you." yoongi teased him.
"you don't." jimin sighed. "however, i'm not backing down from a competition."
"are you proposing a competition?" yoongi tilted his head. "it wouldn't be much fun if it wasn't." jimin smiled as the waiter made his way towards them. "it would be plenty of fun, you're just not open to it. how about you let me guide you?"
"how about your keep your mouth shut. always saying explicit things, don't you get tired. i'm almost gone." jimin laughed. "you sure like to act like you hate it, however, jimin. you like it don't you? you like when someone treats you like a woman, isn't that correct, jiminie?" yoongi whispered the nickname loud enough for jimin to hear.
jimin slightly blushed. "don't ever speak to me like that, we're not acquaintances and definitely not friends." jimin spat.
"correct, we're enemies, soon to be lovers." yoongi teased. jimin was about to speak when a familiar voice caught his attention.
"good morning jimin." taehyung smiled, he stood in front of jimin.
"morning taehyung." jimin greeted him, turning his attention away. "you know him?" yoongi questioned. "does it look like i don't?" jimin rolled his eyes.
"jimin, hoseok's back." taehyung informed him with a grin on his face. "he's in the back with jin and jungkook."
jimin's eyes widened, his cheeks tinted red. it's been a long time since he's last seen him. to be quite fair, hoseok was someone special to jimin. his own form of excitement, however he wouldn't tell that to anyone else.
jimin abruptly stood up, startling taehyung and yoongi. "is something the matter?" yoongi asked. "none of your concern." jimin muttered. he figured going to see him would make yoongi question him. it's not like he minded. or maybe he did. for some reason he didn't want yoongi to know about hoseok and him. he knew yoongi was good at understanding people, in mere seconds he would find out.
"i'll tell him to come out if you'll like." taehyung said, curious about why jimin was jumpy. "it's okay, i'll take my regular." jimin sat back down and grinned at him. trying his best to not look startled.
"i'll take a black coffee." yoongi said.
taehyung took their requests, as jimin fixed himself back in his chair. "an old friend." he turned to yoongi as taehyung walked away. "for an old friend i wouldn't cause a scene."
jimin knew he caused a scene. it was embarrassing in a sense but he felt like he needed to explain himself. but it wasn't like yoongi cared.
"it's my secret." jimin teased. yoongi nodded, sighing. he felt annoyed. he looked away from jimin and turned his attention to the counter. there he notices a man making his way towards him. he wondered whether that was the guy the taehyung guy mentioned.
jimin was too busy focusing on composing himself that he didn't notice when hoseok walked out and sat next to him.
"and you must be?" yoongi questioned, looking away making jimin turn to see who he was talking to. "jung hoseok, and you're yoongi, correct? i'm a fan of your works." hoseok sat down and shook his hand.
jimin stared at him, not saying a word though he did get more irritated.
"i missed you." hoseok turned to jimin snd hugged him. jimin was slightly taken aback but blushed.
yoongi stared at both of them, confused. he was intrigued by the play in front of him. he continued staring at them. the way jimin flushed, the way he got startled and his eyes shined for a mere second when jimin's friend mentioned hoseok. he wondered if hoseok was the guy jimin wrote about.
was he the one that made his lonely nights disappear for a mere second. was he the guy that showed him what love was or was yoongi reading too much into it. he continued to analyse him.
"i missed you too." jimin blushed and hugged him back, he quickly pulled away.
yoongi stared at hoseok, analysing his features, he looked familiar and he was quite good looking, he wouldn't lie. "i'm sorry, do i know you from somewhere?" yoongi asked, interrupting them.
"perhaps, are you a fan of music and dancing? if you are then, here i guess you do." hoseok chuckled, detaching himself from jimin.
"oddly enough i seem to recall you from somewhere, yet i don't remember where." yoongi furred his eyebrows trying to recall where he encountered him. he couldn't remember.
"a good writer with a bad memory. sounds fun." hoseok teased him. yoongi blushed in embarrassment. he cleared his throat. "you're quite cheerful in the morning, aren't you?" yoongi smirked. "i wouldn't say cheerful, rather, something has caught my eye and like a cat, i have no option but to explore it." hoseok bit his slip, holding back his grin. "not a cat, sunshine." yoongi winked.
jimin huffed and glared at yoongi. he felt jealous. he cussed at himself, he shouldn't be feeling like that. there's no such thing as attraction at first sight.
yoongi glanced at jimin and smirked. he stared at hoseok, eyeing him. "you're way more interesting than your friend over here." yoongi licked his lips. "he's nothing but a stuck up brat."
"i'm not." jimin glared. "i just prefer a calm attitude over anything."
"really?" hoseok put his hand in jimin's thigh. he knew jimin wasn't able to keep himself calm. he pretended to be, but hoseok knew him better than he knew himself. maybe that's why he teased him.
"i don't remember you ever being calm." he squeezed his thigh. he had a smug expression.
yoongi looked at jimin, smirking. "pardon me for asking but are you alright? you're quite red." yoongi snickered. "i'm quite alright." jimin nervously spoke. his voice was a little higher than normal.
yoongi was about to make another snarky comment when he heard someone else call hoseok.
hoseok heard jin call his name and sighed, removing his hand. "i must go, it was nice meeting you, i'll like to see you again." he said to yoongi. "it would be nice as well."
hoseok walked away. yoongi noticed how jimin's shoulders dropped. "don't be upset, he's not going anywhere, at least, i don't think he is. he's quite pretty." yoongi teased jimin.
hoseok was pretty but he didn't feel the same attraction he felt when he met jimin.
"why would i be upset, friends don't get upset about the other. he's nothing to me if that's what you're thinking." jimin lied. he bit his lip and forced a grin.
"you're quite close to be only friends." yoongi crossed his legs. "friends wouldn't touch each other like that, or would look at each other in that way. i think i figured it out, you fancy him, don't you darling?"
"and why would that matter to you."
"because i have taken an interested in him. he promises fun, and to be quite honest, what do you offer?" yoongi lied. he wasn't interested but it seemed like jimin was. not that he cared that jimin was interested in someone else but he wanted to play with jimin for a bit.
"jimin is quite fun." taehyung interfered in their conversations, putting their drinks down. "perhaps." yoongi mumbled.
they both thanked taehyung after he put their drinks down. taehyung walked away with a smile on his face.
"we've strayed so much from the actual conversation. how about we discuss details?" jimin took a sip from his coffee. "a writing contest." yoongi smiled. "best seller is declared best writer."
"you are aware that i'm also a lawyer, i write correct, on my free time."
"and you are aware i'm a photographer. if we didn't have any interference in our works, it wouldn't be as exciting." yoongi took a sip.
"you're always looking for excitement, aren't you?" jimin sighed.
"perhaps, are you willing to offer?" yoongi asked. "that depends."
"so be it, a writing contest. best seller gets to tell the loser to do something." yoongi smiled. "alright, i'll agree." jimin finished his coffee. "since you have your day off, mind spending it with me?" yoongi asked.
"i would rather spend it with the devil."
"that's amazing, darling, i am." yoongi winked and payed their drinks.
they both walked outside and stopped in front of the coffee shop. "i payed, now spend the day with me." yoongi commanded.
"you invited me, it was only fair." jimin huffed. "i'm also inviting you to join me. now come." yoongi huffed.
"i don't like you very much." jimin rolled his eyes, following yoongi. "feelings quite mutual yet they always say; keep your friends close and your enemies closer."
"we're not enemies."
"correct." yoongi walked to an abandoned park. he turned to look at jimin and waited for him to get close. he grabbed jimin by the waist, engulfing him into a kiss.
"we're freenemies." he softly mumbled on jimin's lips. jimin breathed. "is there a reason to do that in public?" he asked. "i missed your lips, they're quite intoxicating."
"you are well aware, i'm a man with a wife."
"and somehow they always manage to say the wrong thing." yoongi kissed him again, holding closer than he was before. when they separated jimin smiled. "i still don't like you."
"i don't like you but i'll admit, your lips are soft."
"you shouldn't say things like that out loud." jimin sat in the bench, yoongi following his steps. "and why shouldn't i? there's nothing wrong in being right."
"i'm not right though." jimin looked up. "perfectly wrong." yoongi held jimin's hands. "i don't like you and somehow i feel attracted, like i want more. please allow me to find out more." yoongi turned to him, making jimin smile. "i'll give you today."
"then i shouldn't waste my time in silly things. let me get to know you."
"i rather not but if it's your request then go ahead." jimin stood up.
*
once the end of the day had fallen on them, yoongi took jimin back to the old house, they laid on the floor, looking up at the stars.
"it's rather absurd ain't it? we spend so many nights thinking whether what we're doing is a sin or if it's pure?" yoongi grabbed jimin's hand, intertwining their fingers.
"you do say that but how can i forgive you, it is wrong, it's absolutely vile." jimin squeezed yoongi's hand.
"now darling, please do calm. it's not wrong if one wishes it, it's only wrong when one does not."
"and when have i wished for it, please do tell?" jimin sat up, locking eyes with yoongi.
"when you allowed me to wonder." yoongi kissed jimin once again.
wonder- a feeling of surprise mingled with admiration, caused by something beautiful, unexpected, unfamiliar, or inexplicable.
i hope you enjoyed it ! have a great day and if you ever need to talk i'm here !
