13.We can't
The breakfast sat there on the coffee table as you had no idea of eating it right now.
It was almost evening, but you didn't want to do anything but talk out things with Jungkook.
You wanted to tell him by yourself that you love him. Not him finding out on his own that a little girl who was once a student in his dance class, is obsessed with him.
'Maybe that's what he thought,'
Hearing the sound of a car outside, you were sure that it was Jungkook returning home.
Standing up from the couch, you walked to the front door and opened it, stepping out, determined to talk with him.
You saw him opening the front door of his house as he got in, closing the door behind him.
Taking a deep breath, you slowly walked to his doorstep and stood there for a minute, your heart growing with anxiety.
Breathing out, you brought your hand up and rung the doorbell.
You heard footsteps from inside the house, and finally the front door opened.
"What is it?" Jungkook asked with no emotion on his face.
Just the way he looked at you, anyone could say that he was not ready to deal with you right now. But you had to.
"I-I want to talk with you," you said in a low voice, timidly looking into his eyes.
"I don't want to-" Jungkook's words were cut off by you.
"I know that you know," you said immediately, looking at the floor. "And I w-want to talk things with you clearly," you added.
Not giving you any reply, Jungkook just walked away inside his house, but leaving the door open.
Bringing your eyes up, you took slow steps forward and entered the house, closing the door behind you.
You saw him walking towards the kitchen and went behind him too.
Before you could start speaking anything, Jungkook spoke.
"What do you want out of this life, Hyerin?" He asked, his back facing you as he stood in front of the kitchen counter.
"Oppa-" your words were cut off by Jungkook.
"The relationship between the both of us was that between a tutor and a student. You don't know what you're doing right now," he said, trying to stay as calm as possible.
"Stop wasting your time on someone who doesn't love you. You're young, and what you feel towards me is just an infatuation, nothing more than that," he said, not looking at you.
"But we both know that it's not an infatuation. I-I love you-"
"We can't be in love, Hyerin! I'm thirty five years old and you're fifteen years younger than me!" Jungkook yelled as he turned around to look at you.
Your eyes turned misty as you tried your best to not break down in tears.
"Age is just a number, oppa," you mumbled with a little crack in your voice as you looked down.
"Hyerin! Don't you understand?! I'm almost the same age as your father. You can't love me!" He yelled once again as tears streamed down your cheeks from his outburst
Just then the door bell rang and Jungkook closed his eyes for a moment and sighed before walking to the door, leaving you there.
As he opened the front door, he was greeted by a policeman. Lucky for Jungkook that he could speak English now.
"We are looking for the girl living next door. Have you seen her?" The policeman asked and Jungkook turned his head back to look at you.
"She's here. Is there a problem?" Jungkook asked while looking at the officer.
Time skip to an hour later~
Your back slid down the wall as you sat down on the cold hospital floor, eyes puffy and red as you sobbed loudly with Jungkook standing beside you.
Your grandparents wanted to give you surprise since they were returning more earlier than expected.
And of course, it was a surprise. A heartbreaking surprise.
Weakly hitting the wall beside you, you hugged your knees and continued sobbing more uncontrollably.
The only thing that makes life unfair is the delusion that it should be fair.
Did you really want to stay on this road longer, knowing it was only going to end in devastation?
It was better to never have something, than to have and lose it.
You wish you were a little kid again. That kid who was alone. Because skinned knees are easier to fix than a broken heart and fading memories.
You think in the end, they would have stayed with you, out of obligation, or maybe comfort. Maybe you were safe to them, and they needed to feel that.
They know how scared you get of the unknown. To you, they must be a kind of a security blanket.
But, do you see now, how that doesn't work for you? You don't want to be there. Simply because the idea of you being gone is too scary.
You want to be someone's everything. You want love that's returned, equally. You want to be someone's heart.
Even if it means breaking your own.
I used to believe. But then, I realized that life was not a cupcake with rainbow sprinkles on the top.
