Chapter Nineteen - Jealous
I watched as he got up from his seat and walked over to the stage, holding my gaze as he neared.
Did he really just spend a million dollars?
On me?
My heart thumped loudly when he held his hand up and I carefully placed mine in his while climbing down the steps.
"You're on crack," I muttered.
He tightened his grip around my hand and started dragging me towards the dance floor where the guys were already dancing with their model dates and the rest of the people were dancing with their partners.
"Why are we going towards the dance floor?" I whispered, making sure that only he could hear me.
"You owe me a dance. Isn't that why I bought you?" He spat in a venomous tone and I flinched at his words.
I frowned at him when I faced him again and opened my mouth to speak but he roughly pulled me to his body, causing a gasp to escape my lips.
"Alec, why are you so mad at me?" I breathed out.
His eyes narrowed for a moment and I spoke again.
"And a million dollars? Seriously? What were you thinking?" I hissed in a low voice.
His jaw clenched. "What were you thinking, Scarlet?"
I stared at him in confusion.
"What would have happened if I wasn't present in the hall at that moment? One of those horny jerks would have made the final bid," He gritted his teeth in annoyance.
"Chill out, Alec. It was just a game. Even if someone did buy me, as you put it, I would owe them one single dance. Not my life."
"I don't care. That was inappropriate and I wouldn't have liked it if someone else put their money on you like that," He spoke in all seriousness and I was left speechless for a moment.
"Why not?" I whispered.
"Because you're my wife," He snapped almost suddenly and my eyes grew big for a moment. He seemed to be having the same expression but he recovered quickly and cleared his throat.
"And not an auction object," He added after a while.
I stared at his face and he raised a brow at me. "Are we just going to stand here?"
I blinked and looked away from him. His arms wrapped around my waist and I bit my lip before raising my hands up to his shoulders.
We started moving with the slow song as I found my cheeks heating up. I kept my gaze fixed on the people around us.
"Look at me," He muttered.
"Why?" I asked.
"Because I want you to," His deep voice sounded like music to my ears.
"But I don't want to."
"Why not?"
I shrugged.
He gave a gentle squeeze on my waist, causing my heart to flutter.
"This i-is not fair," I stuttered.
"What is?"
"What you just did."
His gaze was on me and I could feel like he was smirking at me.
"And don't say you didn't do anything," I muttered.
"I wasn't going to say that," He chuckled.
Oh!
I couldn't say that I was surprised he was acting like this around me. He was a completely bipolar person.
One moment, he would act like a decent human being and the very next moment, he would turn into a cold and distant asshole.
I wasn't falling for it this time.
"But you seem to be affected by that, Scarlet," He whispered huskily into my ear and it was only then that I realized he had left merely an inch between us.
I gulped at the close proximity and the feel of his warm breath on my neck.
Don't fall for it, Scarlet.
I repeated this in my head and finally snapped my head in his direction but since his face was so close, my nose brushed against his.
I involuntarily leaned back a little as his daunting gaze met mine.
Taking in a deep breath, I spoke. "I'm not affected by you."
His lips pulled up into a smirk. "Is that why you're blushing?"
Holy shit.
I pressed my lips into a thin line. "I didn't even pay attention to half of what you said. I was actually focusing on someone across the room. There, you have the reason for my blush."
He didn't speak anything for moment, almost like he was processing it, then his eye twitched. "Who?"
I shrugged in a casual manner. "I don't know him. Just seemed pretty hot."
His eyes scrutinized my face closely. "You're a bad liar,"
And the smirk was back again.
I frowned and took a step back but he quickly pulled me back into his chest. The more I breathed in his scent, the more difficult it was for me to not fall for his act again.
"Were you trying to make me jealous, Mrs. Sinclair?" One of his hands travelled up from my waist to my bare shoulder.
My breath hitched at his action and I found my legs giving way.
"N-No. I wasn't a-and now if you may excuse me, the song has ended and the dance I owed you is over."
Without much struggle, he loosened his grip and I quickly stepped away from him. Turning around, I sprinted in God knows what direction and stopped to breathe in a corner.
What am I doing?
Why was I acting that way? It's almost like something was wrong with me.
Yes! There is indeed.
Alec Sinclair is the matter.
Why was he doing this?
Was he playing a game with me? Because a few seconds ago, he was surely trying to hint at something. But I know that if I revert his attitude, he's going to end up pushing me away.
Or I was taking his actions in a completely wrong sense. But that couldn't be. I'm not dumb or oblivious when it comes to all that.
I sighed.
What exactly did he want from me? And what kind of game was this?
Was he trying to prove a point? Was he teasing me?
My temper suddenly flared and I wanted nothing more than to walk up to him and snap at him.
If coming close are his intentions, why did he leave me alone in the balcony without a word after I gave him a sympathy hug?
Right, he didn't want my sympathy but the bottom-line is that I ended up sad again.
Isn't that what he always does?
Ugh! I groaned as I buried my face into my palms but suddenly remembered that I had left my purse backstage.
I immediately crossed the dance floor and entered the room. Thankfully, my purse was lying on the table where I had left it and I fished my phone out.
5 missed calls.
All from Alec?
I saw the time and realized that they were from before. He must have been calling me when I was getting ready for the ramp.
But why did he need to? It's not like he cares about me.
I frowned at the thought as my anger took over once again.
I was trying to make you jealous. So what?
Before I could even debate sending it, my finger clicked on the send button.
I released a breath and sat down on one of the chairs. What the hell am I even doing?
My phone buzzed and sweat beads formed on my forehead instantly when I saw it was a message from him.
Where are you?
I frowned. What's it with him?
Why?
I waited for his response for almost five minutes but gave up eventually. Sure. Why would he reply to me?
There! I think that is my problem.
I'm disappointed just because he didn't reply to my text. I was never like that.
Infact, I used to run far away from guys like that. Was this karma biting back?
What am I even thinking? I rolled my eyes.
Just then, my phone buzzed and I unlocked it frantically.
Because I want you to look at me when you say that.
A tingle ran down my spine at his words. How is that going to make a difference?
Face it, Scar. If it didn't make any difference, you wouldn't be texting him that.
I thought before typing a reply.
No thanks. I'd rather be here.
I sent it and his reply was quick.
Where?
I smirked. You're not the only one who can play games, Sinclair. I thought as an idea popped into my head.
In a room with someone.
This time, his reply was a little delayed.
Who?
Not like I was too good at it.
Someone.
I sent the message and waited for his reply. Leaning back into the comfortable chair, I glanced down at my nails and fingers. I need a manicure.
My phone buzzed and I quickly opened the message.
Number 2.
I frowned at the screen. Did he accidently send someone else's message to me?
Number 2 what?
I let out a laugh. That was a funny mistake.
I opened his message.
Failed attempt of making me jealous.
My eyes grew wide. What even?
You think I'm lying?
I sent the message quickly and waited for his reply.
No.
I smirked at the phone and sat back. Good he believes me. A second later, it buzzed again.
Because you really are with someone in a room.
I raised a brow at his reply. Way to sound creepy.
Shaking my head, I looked up and almost screamed when I saw the mirror and found a figure standing behind me.
I placed my hand over my chest, trying to calm my racing heart and looked up at him with wide eyes.
His face was obviously holding a slight smirk as he started walking up to me and rested his hands on the back rest, staring at me through the mirror.
"Now. What were you saying?"
I still had my jaw dropped from the sudden shock but I quickly recovered and blinked at him.
"That I am not alone in this room. Well, technically, I am not now since you just-"
I gasped when he suddenly sprung the chair around so I was facing him. Before I could make even an involunatry move, he quickly leaned forward and caged me with his arms on either sides of my head.
"Before that," He muttered.
A wave of heat surged through my body as I looked up at the Greek God hovering over me and before I could contemplate, my hands reached up and wrapped around his forearms.
Why the hell did I do that?
His eyes were flashing with a lot of emotions at the same time--anger, surprise but the one that stood out from the rest was--longing.
I swallowed as he leaned in further.
I didn't realize my thighs were exposed until his fingers slightly brushed against my skin.
Everything stopped in that exact moment and my inner self shook like the fluttering of windows in a storm.
I opened my mouth to speak but ended up exhaling sharply which caused his eyes to fall on my lips. His hands lifted up to my bare neck, rubbing soft circles with his thumb.
A small moan escaped my lips but he didn't seem affected by it. My cheeks flushed.
He brought his mouth forward as his lips softly brushed against my shoulder and lifted to my ear. I held my breath.
"What did you say, Scarlet?" He whispered and pulled back to look at me.
The intensity in his eyes seemed to be challenging me as tingles ran down my spine under his touch.
"T-that I was trying to make you j-jealous," I stuttered.
Pull yourself together, bitch!
His lips pulled up into a satisfied smirk. "Good."
All the warmth was snatched away as he pulled back and stood up straight infront of me.
I couldn't keep the disappointment away from my face. Guess who got played again.
At this point, I wanted nothing more than to slap myself.
"We're leaving," He stated.
I frowned at him which caused him to raise a brow at me. "Is there a problem?"
Yes. You.
Pressing my lips into a thin line, I shook my head and quickly got up into an unsteady posture, my legs betraying me as I almost fell back but he grabbed my arms and steadied me.
I looked up into his mesmerizing gaze.
"Are you okay?"
I clenched my jaw and nodded. He seemed weirded out for a second and I wanted to pull my hair in frustration. Could he be more oblivious?
Yanking my arms out of his grip a bit too harshly, I walked past him. "Let's go."
He silently followed me out of the main hall and into the elevators. I could feel his gaze on me the entire time but to my relief, he didn't say anything and I took in a deep breath once we were out of the building.
Kyle had already parked the car near the entrance and he held the door open for us.
I muttered a quick thanks before slipping into the backseat and gritted my teeth when Alec slipped in beside me.
The last thing I wanted was to look at him. I turned my head away from him and stared out into the streets.
The ride seemed longer than it was with the thick tension in the air around us but I relaxed, knowing that he couldn't feel a thing.
Maybe I married a machine. I rolled my eyes at the thought.
I heaved a sigh when Kyle pulled up infront of the hotel and I picked my purse from the seat, quickly stepping out of the car.
Muttering a thanks to Kyle again, I didn't wait for Alec and started towards the beach, thankful that I had the cottage punch card with me.
His footsteps followed me closely but he didn't say anything. I wanted to avoid him either way as I unlocked the door and headed straight for my room.
"Scarlet?"
I abruptly stopped in my tracks and cursed myself for letting the plan of avoiding him flow out of the window so easily.
I heard the main door being shut.
"What?" I pretended to be impatient by tapping my foot and not turning in his direction.
"Earlier you asked what I thought of your dress."
I frowned at his words but then remembered that I did ask him what he thought about me earlier, right before his work people had approached him.
I slowly turned around. My breath hitched when I saw the amorous look on his face as he advanced in my direction.
"Yeah?" I muttered.
He stopped when he was an inch away from me and I found myself drowning into his deep intense eyes.
"I want you to get rid of it," He muttered.
Once again, I was taken aback and disappointed.
I frowned at him and expected him to smirk at his oh-so-funny joke but he did not. The seriousness did not leave his face.
"Right now," His eyes darkened.
My eyes grew wide for a moment and as his message came clear to my mind, my lips parted in anticipation.
"Right now?" I found my voice barely audible. "Right here?"
He didn't respond to that, instead kept his soul penetrating gaze intact, as if waiting for my answer.
Now it's your turn to play around, Scarlet. A voice came from my head but I couldn't focus on any thought with the haughty guy standing infront of me.
Right! I should tease him this ti- Oh scratch that!
I lurched forward and threw my arms around his neck, not wasting any time in capturing his lips with mine.
He responded immediately as his arms encircled my waist, lifting me up and I only knew he was walking when he opened the door to his room.
#
His lips left mine for a moment and I gasped in air, also disappointed because of the loss of contact but soon relished the feel of his lips lingering across my neck and trailing urgent kisses across the base of my throat and shoulders.
"Scarlet," He whispered and I opened my eyes to find his hungry ones on me.
"I'm going to ask you just once. Do you really want-"
"Shut up," I cut him off and reached for the buttons of his tuxedo, quickly slipping it off his shoulders and then reached for his tie as his lips fell on mine once again.
He kissed me with fierce passion as I loosened his tie and let it fall on the floor. I unbuttoned his shirt, revealing his muscular torso.
My hands fell flat on them as I ran my fingers across his chest. I took a step back, peeled his shirt off his body and tossed it on the floor.
Taking a moment to look at the sexy specimen infront of me with ruffled hair, lipstick smudges near his lips and a naked torso, I found a blush creeping to my cheeks.
"Like what you see?" He smirked.
"I've seen better," I whispered huskily which earned me a sexy eye twitch from him and before I knew it, I was pushed back on the bed.
Raising my head to look at him, I found him on his knees near the edge of the bed, his eyes locked with mine. My heart fluttered at the site.
"I've wanted to do this all night," He admitted and I gasped loudly when his hand caressed my exposed thigh.
All night! The two words repeated in my head.
He started trailing kisses there and I resisted the urge to clutch my legs together. Oh God! This is heaven.
Suddenly he was hovering over me and lifted my upper body with his one hand and pulled my gown off with the other. When did he even pull the zipper down?
Oh God!
He tossed it on the floor and I was now lying infront of him in my black strapless bra and matching black panties.
A blush formed on my cheeks when I found him taking his own time to run his eyes across my body, a little spark suddenly visible in his eyes.
"Like what you see?" I muttered and his eyes snapped to mine.
He took in a sharp breath and trailed his fingers softly across my thighs. I bit my lip as his mouth started trailing kisses along my inner thigh, then travelling up to my stomach.
I held my breath when his hands unhooked my bra and freed my breasts. He buried his face between them and started squeezing, biting and sucking on each breast, causing them to harden.
A loud moan erupted from my throat and he looked up at me with a smirk. His mouth went to my neck and he started sucking on my weak spot. I let out yet another moan.
His lips started leaving kisses on my breasts and slowly travelled down. His hand suddenly grabbed mine and he brought it to his lips.
My heart skipped a beat when he kissed the spot where he had left a mark from holding so tight yestersay.
Then he let go as soon as he had taken it and travelled down to my legs. I held my breath when his fingers brushed across the material of my underwear.
He glanced up at me and when I made no move to stop him, he slipped it off my legs in one single motion and tossed it carelessly on the floor.
My breathing grew heavy as the libido seemed to be screaming in the air around us. He slowly leaned down, holding my gaze and I gasped when his tongue met the core of my feminity.
Sweet. Lord. Jesus!
I let out a loud moan at his pleasure filled torture.
He tilted his head up and started trailing his lips across my stomach in a very slow, unbearable pace.
"Alec," I moaned his name out and his lips pulled up into a smirk as his hands reached under me and gave my ass a squeeze.
"Say it," He whispered.
"Please," I screamed out in frustration and he finally seemed to have taken mercy on me as he slipped his pants off, then his boxers and left me stupefied with the next thing I saw.
My lips parted in surprise and I swallowed nervously.
"Like what you see, love?"
And I was back in my daze again, not because of what I was seeing but because of what he called me.
He quickly reached for his wallet on the floor and pulled out a foil packet. Getting back on the bed, he teared it open with his teeth and rolled the condom on his hard erection.
Oh Lord!
He climbed back on top of me and positioned himself between my legs. Lifting my lower body up, he wrapped my legs around his waist and slipped right in.
I threw my head back and clutched the sheets tightly. Fuck!
With a few thrusts, he was completely inside me and I shut my eyes as my body rocked against his, taking me to different levels of pleasure.
A spark of fire ignited between us as I found my heart going into frenzy.
I moaned out his name once more and he gratified me with a few more thrusts. His upper body hovered over mine as he supported it on his strong forearms. I tangled my fingers in his hair and his warm breath fanned my neck.
"Alec," I whispered his name when I was very close.
"Yes. Say it," He spoke in a husky voice.
"Don't stop," I said in a hurry as I clutched the sheets beside me, my eyes shut close.
I finally screamed out his name and reached the climax, gasping loudly and throwing my head back into the mattress.
He slipped in beside me but I was too tired to even open my eyes. My nose took in his intoxicating scent and I buried my face into his chest.
The world went off.
