Tw: Sexual references, violence, mentions of Rexsoka (does not actually happen, they're practically siblings)
"Fives, you seem fun," Kara said, flashing him a smile. "I'm bored."
Echo narrowed his eyes. "What do you want him to do about it?"
"Yeah, what do you want me to do about it?" Fives curiously asked. "Did you want to-"
Echo clasped his hand over Fives' mouth. "I don't even want to know what was going to come out of your mouth."
Fives glared at him, removing Echo's hand. "You didn't even know what I was going to say!"
"Was it going to be dirty?" Echo crossed his arms. He glanced at Kara who was watching with an amused smile. "Were you thinking something dirty too?"
Kara feigned a look of surprise. "Excuse me? I would never think something like, thank you very much."
Fives gasped. "I have an idea for a game to play!"
"Hit me." Kara leaned back against the wall, sporting a bored expression. "This cell is mind-numbingly dull. I'll play almost anything."
"Two truths and a lie!" Fives eagerly said, nudging Echo. "We played with Hevy all the time!"
Echo had a bittersweet smile on his face. "I remember that game. I'll play too."
"Great!" Kara clapped her hands together excitedly. "I'll go first! Let's see..."
Echo whispered to Fives, "
"I can play an instrument, I speak four languages, and I once got caught by Cad Bane," Kara said, ticking her fingers one by one. "Can you guess which one's the lie?"
Echo frowned. "Playing an instrument? Or the languages one? I have no idea."
Fives shook his head. "It's obviously the Cad Bane one. No one escapes him, and who would leave a bounty alive after hiring someone to retrieve them? She would've died."
Kara smirked and listened to them debate which one was the lie. She stretched out her back, sore from sleeping on the bench. "Have you chosen your answer yet?"
"The Cad Bane one," Fives confidently said, much to Echo's displeasure.
"Wrong," Kara happily declared, positively beaming. "I was captured by him and I barely made it out. That's a story for another time though..."
"Which was the lie then?" Echo questioned. He glared at Fives. "We should have thought about it longer, you di'kut."
"I don't know four languages," Kara revealed. "I only know three."
"What languages do you speak?" Echo curiously asked.
"Obviously Basic." Kara glanced behind them at Rex, who had just entered the room. "Dosh, which was really hard to learn, and Binary."
"I'm here. You can go now. Was she too much trouble?" Rex dropped a blanket onto the floor, gently nudging it with his foot to be out of the way.
"No, we just played a game after she woke up," Fives told him. "Why are you back so soon? You told us it might be a while."
Rex shook his head, his voice a little too smooth. "No reason."
"You didn't trust us alone with her, did you?" Echo cocked a brow, staring at Rex.
Rex chuckled. "Not at all."
"Hey!" Fives protested. "We did just fine!"
Rex shot him a dry look. "Is that so? Then where is she?"
Fives panicked and whipped around, eyes blown wide in terror. "She was just here!"
Kara waved at him. "I'm still stuck in here."
Fives glared at Rex. "There was no need for that!"
"I disagree," Echo interjected. "I think it was absolutely needed. It was hilarious."
Rex grinned, sinking to the floor. "Get out of here, you two. I know how much you want to start spreading rumours."
Fives gasped. "I would never!"
"Yeah, because I keep telling him not to," Echo said. "He knows he's not supposed to spread confidential information."
Rex rolled his eyes, but had a small smile on his face as they shuffled out, still arguing. He pulled the blanket over his legs and leaned his head against the walls, peacefully closing his eyes.
"You're just going to sleep?" Kara questioned.
Rex peeked one eye open. "Yes. You have a problem with that?"
"No," Kara grumbled, knowing she was going to be bored again.
"Or," Rex began, "you could tell me where the base is and then you could get out of this cell."
"And get into another one?" Kara scoffed. "Nice try."
Rex shrugged and turned his head away from her, nestling against the wall. Kara watched him for a moment, waiting until she could hear his breaths coming out in short puffs.
Then she stepped toward the red barrier.
The setup to the cell was different than the ones she was used to on her ship, with a control panel on each side, in case someone accidentally got trapped inside. All you needed to exit was the code.
The code she watched Ahsoka put it in when she removed her binders.
She quietly laughed to herself as she inputted the sequence to deactivate the ray shield. After it went down, she slipped out of the cell, stopping in front of Rex.
It would be so easy to kill him right now. He was fast asleep and wouldn't even fight back.
Yet all she did was tug the blankets off him.
She patted him down as gently as she could, locating his comm and tossing it into her pockets. Kara silently entered the hallways, peering around to make sure no one would spot her.
Once she was certain there was no one around, Kara walked down the corridor. She would pause every time she thought there was someone, straining her ears to hear.
She turned a corner, bumping into a clone with long hair done up in a bun. His eyes widened in surprise and he opened his mouth. She never found out whether he was going to ask her what she was doing there, or yelling for help, since she launched herself into him, sending him to the floor.
He yelped as his head hit the floor, wincing. Kara dropped elbow down onto his abdomen, making him go limp.
She stood up and looked around, wondering where to put the body.
Then it hit her.
Rex yawned, stretching out his arms. He blinked blearily, slowly waking up fully. He felt satisfied after such a restful sleep and rolled his neck to work out the kink in it.
Rex glanced up at Kara's cell, ready to ask her if she needed a blanket of her own. It was quite chilly after all.
She wasn't there.
"Kix said she needed rest!" Rex angrily muttered to himself, folding up the blanket. "That means no escaping!"
He carefully placed the blanket on the ground before sprinting into the hallways. Rex tried to pull his comm to his mouth, and startled when he realized it was missing.
"Kark her," Rex cursed, increasing his speed.
"Rex, can I speak with you?"
Rex came to an abrupt stop in front of Anakin, feeling immense guilt about how Kara had escaped on his watch. "Yes, sir."
"I've heard a rumour," Anakin began, "that involves you."
Rex's blood turned to ice, dread filling him. "Oh?"
Anakin crossed his arms. "Indeed. Care to guess what I was told?"
Rex swallowed thickly. "Was it about my relationship status?"
Anakin nodded, pursing his lips. "It is. Anything else you want to say before I reveal what I heard?"
"I can guarantee that it's false! I've never had any feelings for General Grievous!" Rex earnestly exclaimed.
"What?" Anakin furrowed his brow. "That's not what I heard. I heard you had a crush on Ahsoka. I was about to have a serious talk with you."
Rex choked on his salvia, curling his nose in distaste. "No offence to the commander, but... that is one of the most disgusting things I've ever heard."
Anakin glared at him. "Don't disrespect her."
"Not like that!" Rex cried out. "She's like a sister to me!"
Anakin hummed. "Good. This was about to get very awkward."
"Speaking of awkward..." Rex said uncomfortably, "General Madden might've possibly escaped."
"What?" Anakin threw his hands up on the air. "What are we doing here then?"
"You wanted to talk to me about my love life!" Rex hissed, frustration taking over. "Let's just go find her before she gets away!"
They started running together, trying to get to her before she found a way outside the ship. If she escaped, their chance to find the base would disappear.
Then they both slowed their pace, looking ahead in confusion.
"Why is Tup naked?" Anakin asked Rex.
"I don't know," Rex responded, bewildered at what he was seeing.
Tup wasn't exactly in the nude, but instead of wearing his full uniform, he was merely in his blacks. He was wandering the hallways seeming disoriented.
"Tup!" Rex shouted. "Get over here!"
"Yeah?" Tup asked after he trotted up to them.
"What happened? Why are you dressed like this?" Anakin questioned. "Did you lose your armour or something?"
Tup shifted in place, rubbing his arm. "Well, some lady came at me, knocked me out, and I woke up like this."
Rex lifted his gaze to the ceiling. "General Skywalker, she has a disguise now! She might be walking straight through the hanger as we speak!"
"I know that!" Anakin replied, already pushing past Tup.
"Do I need to call for backup?" Tup called after them.
"Just tell Ahsoka I'll be late for our training session!" Anakin yelled.
Tup scratched his head. "Am I just supposed to walk around like this?"
