Tw: Drowning, vomit, sexual references (as always), violence, language, sexual content? It was a kiss.

Everything was a panicked blur.

Kara desperately attempted to claw her way to the surface, but everything was upside down, yet sideways at the same time. Every time she thought she found the right way up, she was spun again and again until she was dizzy.

Her lungs were starting to strain, and she felt like they were going to burst. Spots danced before her eyes and everything in her ached to take a breath of air.

Kara's head broke the surface and she gulped down oxygen before she was dragged down again. For the brief second she was above the water, she could see the others sprinting down the side of the river, trying to catch up to her.

Her entire being screamed at her to do something, but she was utterly helpless. Unable to swim, she could only hope the harsh current allowed her mercy.

She was able to breathe as her head bobbed to the surface, and her whole body tensed as she spotted what was ahead.

A waterfall was what pushed the raging waters to move so quickly, and she was approaching it rapidly.

Kara tried to grab a branch sticking out of the river bank, but was dunked below the surface again. Her fingers closed around nothing, and bubbles escaped her lips in a frustrated groan before realizing she couldn't afford to lose any air.

Then she was falling, weightless in the sky as she was tossed over the edge of the waterfall.

Hundreds of knives pierced her skin as she fell into the water below, it doing absolutely nothing to soften the blow. The air was knocked from her lungs and she gasped, taking in all the oxygen she could before she was pulled below again.

Scrambling to grab a hold of something, Kara reached out. Her hands brushed something, and adrenaline pumped through her at the feel of wood.

She was spun again and she lost her sense of where it was before she felt something hit her head, causing her to go limp.

Her eyes fluttered shut as everything slowly faded black.

Kara keeled over to the side and vomited, coughing up water and bile. Her hair was smoothed back from her face as she emptied the water from her lungs.

"Kara!" Kix let out a sigh of relief. "Alright, it worked."

"Get your hands off my boobs," Kara croaked.

Kix jumped back with wide eyes. "It's not what it looked like, I swear! I was doing CPR!"

Kara coughed again and let Rex gently prop her up. She leaned her head against his chest as he sat behind her.

"Uh, can you take a deep breath for me?" Kix gave Rex a knowing look, narrowing his eyes slightly.

Kara did as he asked and inhaled, wheezing slightly. Kix nodded and put a hand on his chin.

"Is she going to be okay?" Echo worriedly asked.

"She'll be fine," Kix answered, looked at Kara in concern as her teeth started to chatter. "Kara, are you feeling cold?"

"Y-you think?" Kara's lips were blue.

"Warm up before hypothermia kicks in," Kix advised before looked around. "Hey, is that the base?"

Sure enough, they could see a temporary camp set up with trees chopped down around it. They immediately hid behind bushes, and Rex dragged Kara along.

"What's the plan?" Fives whispered.

Kara trembled, fingers going numb. "I know how to get in, so we need to go the front entrance."

"I still can't believe we're walking right up to the front door," Kix muttered.

"Do you have a b-better plan?" Kara glared at him. Rex began moving his hands up and down her arms in an attempt to warm her up. "Why aren't any of you cold? You were in the water too!"

"Our blacks." Tup pulled his collar out from under his armour to show her. "It regulates our body temperatures. You're not wearing anything like it so you're freezing."

"Echo, Fives, Tup," Kix said. "Why don't you go scout out the perimeter?"

They nodded and stealthily dashed away. Kix rounded on Kara and Rex accusatorially.

"What happened?" Kix demanded. "I need to know?"

"I have no idea what you're talking about," Rex lied.

Kix pointed between the two of them frantically. "You! Her! You two!"

"Can you be more articulate? I don't know what you're talking about." Rex smirked and pulled Kara closer to him, so she was practically sitting on his lap.

Kix's eyes went wide and his jaw dropped. "You're literally- I can't-" He cut himself off by punching the bridge of his nose. "Look, we both know that something happened."

Kara, whose face was buried against Rex's neck, laughed. "Kix, we're having trouble understanding you. What are trying to say?"

"You're sitting on his lap!" Kix exclaimed.

"No I'm not." Kara shifted to be on it more. "Now I am."

Kix's entire face was red in frustration. "Are you dating?"

"No," Kara honestly responded, still curling into Rex as she tried to steal his warmth. "We are not."

Rex could barely hide his wide grin anymore. "See? Nothing happened."

"And why would anything happen?" Kara turned her head to flash an innocent smile at Kix. "We're just two people who used to hate each other but now work together."

"I don't think you ever hated me," Rex murmured into her ear. "Admit it, you always liked me."

Kara discreetly elbowed his ribs as she rotated her whole body to face Kix. "Satisfied? Nothing has happened."

Kix stared at them for a moment before sighing. "Fine. You win for now."

"There's droids patrolling to the east, but they're on the other side, nowhere near the door," Tup reported as they returned.

Kara climbed off Rex. "Let's go. I'm warmed up and ready."

Kix whispered something to Fives, whose eyebrows shot up. Kara looked at them suspiciously as they walked towards the front door of the base.

Kara ran her hand along all the buttons on the pad next to the door in rapid succession. It flashed briefly before the door slid open.

"Wow," Rex said as he slowly crept inside. "That was easy."

"Separatist technology may be advanced, but there's a couple flaws in stuff like this. All doors malfunction like this." Kara followed him, holding up the blaster she'd borrowed.

"Really?" Fives grinned. "So we could use this technique on any Separatist designed door?"

"Yeah." Kara frowned as a memory hit her. "Someone snuck into my room one time. It's weird being woken up by someone kissing you."

"Wait, what?" Echo's head whipped in her direction.

"The main control room should be ahead and to the left." Kara led the way, not clearing up their confusion.

"Someone broke into your room and kissed you?" Kix pulled his own blaster out, clicking the safety off.

"Yeah," Kara replied with a soft smile. "He was always a good kisser."

"Did you know him or not?" Rex questioned. "Because we're under the impression that a stranger broke into your room and was kissing you."

"Oh, no. I knew him," Kara vaguely said. Her lips quirked up. "I knew him very well."

"We're here," Tup announced as they came to a stop next to a door. "This is where the holodisk is. Hopefully. This is the main control room."

Kara smashed all the buttons again, and the door slid open. Droids faced them in confusion before shooting without hesitation.

Kara ducked behind a control panel inside the room and fired a couple shots that missed. Kix joined her side and hit one of the droids, missing a second one.

"Why are there control panels on a temporary base?" Kara asked, finally hitting a droid.

"You're supposed to be the expert here!" Rex dodged a bolt that nearby hit his head.

"Well sorry that I'm not informed of every operation!" Kara snapped and threw her blaster at him. It hit him in the back of the helmet, and he turned to stare at her.

She couldn't see his expression, but knew he was annoyed at her at the way the helmet dipped.

"Focus!" Kix lectured, pushing Kara to the side to avoid a shot.

"They found the button!" A droid screeched as Fives and Echo rolled to use cover behind another dashboard. This one had a giant red button inside a glass box.

Another droid charged forward, and before anyone could do anything about it, smashed through the glass and hit the button.

Everyone in the room froze, including those made of metal. They all turned to stare at that one droid.

"You idiot!" A droid in the middle of the room fell to the floor and hit its arms against the ground. "You've doomed us all!"

"What does it do?" Tup curiously asked.

"A bomb is going to be unleashed! That was the self destruct button for this base!"

Rex shot the droid who had pressed it. "I fucking hate droids."

"Sometimes I do too," the droid in the middle confessed.

The battle continued, a hint of desperation fuelling them all. After Kara's group defeated their opponents, they all searched the room for the holodisk.

"Quickly!" Kara urged them. "The bomb could detonate any second now! We probably only have a couple minutes!"

Echo waved his fist in the air, holodisk clasped tightly in it. "I've got it! Let's go!"

They all sprinted out of the base, getting as far away from it as they could. The river was in their way, and Kara glanced at the rushing water, ice filling her veins.

Tup, Echo, and Fives all crossed, their height allowing them to wade across to the other side. Kix glanced at Kara before nudging Rex.

Rex sighed and knelt. "Get on."

Kara cheered and hopped onto his back so her legs looped through his arms and her hands were secure on his shoulders. As soon as they reached the other side, the ground rumbled and shook as a massive explosion occurred behind them.

"Hey, this flower looks cool!" Fives reached out to poke a pink flower, but Kara slipped off of Rex and slapped his hand away.

Rex took his helmet off and rested it on his hip. "We should return to General Skywalker now."

"We have to hike all the way back there?" Kara whined.

Rex looked at her with amusement. "Yup. Alllll the way back."

Tup led the group back, with Kara in the rear, dragging her feet.

"Here's your blaster back." Rex handed it to her after slowing his pace to be at her side.

"Thanks," Kara mumbled.

Rex stayed silent for a moment before saying teasingly, "You're terrible at fighting."

"No I'm not!" Kara protested. "I'm just bad with blasters!"

"Uh huh." Rex chuckled at the look of pure outrage on her face. "Sure you are."

"Hey! When we get back I'll teach you a thing or two!" Kara bumped her hip into his, making him stumble.

"You're going to beat a Captain?" Rex skeptically asked and bumped her hip in return.

"Yeah, I am," Kara confidently said. She aimed to slam her hip into his, but when he swiftly dodged, she fell of balance and staggered, nearby tripping over her own feet.

"Good luck with that," Rex smugly said, holding her hand in his, dangling her above the ground.

"I hate you," Kara told him, blood rushing to her cheeks as he pulled her up.

"I hate you too," Rex said and put two fingers under her chin, gently tipping her face up to look her in the eyes.

Kara's eyes flicked ahead, checking that the others were out of sight. "I don't think you do. Prove it," she challenged with a simper.

Rex surged forward and kissed her. He kissed her like he hated her, just like she'd asked. He tilted his head slightly and pressed hard enough for her eyes to widen in surprise before she melted into it.

Kara let him guide her backwards until her back was against the bark of a tree. She moved her hands up to wrap them around his neck.

After a minute, Rex mournfully moved away and glanced up. "We better catch up."

Kara nodded and pushed off the tree. "Right. And I'll kick your ass later."

"You better not touch my ass," Rex warned, pulling a splinter from her braid.

Kara shrugged. "But if I kick your ass that's because you couldn't defend yourself."

"We'll see," Rex told her.

Ugh I'm reading a book, she casually mentioned how she hadn't had her period in two months then continued with what she was doing WITHOUT STOPPING TO THINK ABOUT IT AT ALL

I swear if she's pregnant I'll-

Ok I was reading my book while writing this (because switching between the both of them helps me concentrate) and she just threw up.

She didn't think about why she threw up.

She isn't questioning anything at all.

SHE'S SO STUPID
