Chapter 10 [final chapter]

Final chapter.

I stop in my tracks, pausing my breath as I smile at Amir. He didn't exactly look like himself, his arms are shaking uncontrollably, most likely the aftershocks of the fact Alia left him. The trees shaded his face, making his olive skin darker in some areas and lighter in others.

I kick a pebble as I walk closer to Amir, my eyes fixing on an object in his hand. "What did you do?" He finally asks, his voice low but steady like bomb about to go.

My lips carrying on smiling even as I realize that the black sleek object in his gun is nothing other than a gun, a gun most likely packed with bullets aimed to kill. To get rid of me, to erase all of my existence. "What did you do?" He repeats himself, his words louder, sharper as he hesitantly brings his gun higher to shooting range.

"You already know," I tell him, my eyes firmly watching his as he steadied himself into a firmer position, holding the gun higher so if he did shoot, it'll shoot my temple.

It'll be death.

Strangely enough I didn't feel afraid. I know Amir wouldn't hesitate to shoot me, he hates me enough and blames me for Addhya's death and for erasing Alia from his life.

Amir licks his lips and his hands stop shaking. "Did you send that video? Did you edit it?" He asks, his words come out structured as he becomes more confident of himself.

Is he recording this? He knows all the answers yet he keeps asking the questions. His answers don't need reinsurance or confirmation but Alia does. She wouldn't believe it at all.

I take a step back, the leaves crunching under my soles. Along with that step, Amir frowns and moves closer. "Are you recording this?" I finally question.

"I'm asking the questions," he replies, waving his gun as if it's a toy and my life is easily replaceable.

"You honestly think death scares me?" I shake my head looking at the ground as I do. When I look at his surprised expression I laugh. "No one will mourn my death. My wife is dead, my unborn child along with her and my parents died years ago."

"And even if someone actually does, I wouldn't miss them," I finish off. Having my first heart to heart with Amir is strange and it came more as a threat than a actual conversation. Amir knows he has nothing to threaten me with, nothing to scare me off with.

I start walking again, this time towards the way the path ends. I watch the ocean lap over the rocks again, smiling as I do. Addhya loves the ocean, the way it looks. She couldn't wait until she had jumped in the water, possibly wetting me in the process. She'd laugh at my distaste of the salt, the way I frowned at the seaweed getting caught in my leg and the fact sand always managed to find its way to my nails.

But in the end, it always seemed to end off as a good trip. Could have been because Addhya always laughs until she can't stop every time we go. Or maybe the fact we always ice cream and we'd always get it at the same place where the ice cream man had our orders before we knew it. Could have been the way the sun seemed to make her glow in happiness.

I shake the memory out of my head, turning to face Amir once and for all. "What do you mean by unborn child?" Amir says, putting the gun to his side.

"She was pregnant," I finally inform him. Amir widens his eyes first in shock, then his eyes darken most likely with the emotion he always reacts on; anger.

"I could have been an uncle," he says, replaying the fact as he processes it. The words come out calm at first but he takes a step closer and instead of dropping the gun, he raises it. Along with the actions, I realize that he's beyond mad.

"You killed her and her child," he says, his words doing what he intends it to be, to hurt me. The sting stabs me slowly but I still make eye contact with him as he moves closer to me.

Amir moves the gun directly to my heart, his eyes set on killing me and all my memories associated with Addhya. "Go ahead, kill me," I finally say.

I'm done with this world. There's nothing I want to be a part of here. Everyone I care about is dead and there's no one who needs me here. The person I care about the most is behind the grave and her brother is wanting to send me there as well.

I was a villain to everyone in this story. I destroyed Addhya's happiness, Amir's and Alia's today too. Everything I did was to cause pain and it did.

The bullet comes fast, hitting my chest the way it's indicated.

"Tell me the truth," Addhya asked me, her voice sounding as if it was here instead of over the line.

"What is it?"

"Do you love me?" she said making me frown.

"Are you okay? You already know I'll always love you, it's what I promised before I asked you to marry me, when ever I say I love you I mean it. It's a promise when I say those words, I'm not going to take it back or ever tell you it was a lie. I love you Addhya and I'll love you to my grave," I stated the truth, feeling like if it was from a cheesy Bollywood movie. But even open in the air, I knew it was the truth. I will always love her and I always knew it.

I fall back with the force, hearing Amir call my name as he tries to grab my hand, most likely in shock. The last few seconds before I stop breathing is a blur as I try to grab for land. The air brushes past me easily as I fall.

"I love you too," Addhya replied, her voice sounding as if she had a smile on her lips.

I smile at last, a genuine smile at the memory as the water submerged me whole.

Yes, he died.

How was the chapter? I know, it's the not exactly positive but then again this book wasn't meant to be.

What's your opinions on this story?

This story is pretty close to me. It's one of the book where I started experimenting in other genres, the first book I tried out something darker and more mysterious. I'm surpirsed that I enjoyed writing it so much, the way the characters seemed to all reveal itself slowly as it does.

Anyways, I love all of you guys for reading this book. Every single vote was appreciated and helped me. All the comments supported me, all your opinions and plot guesses helped me shape the book into what it is.

Thank you guys so much. This means the world to me that you guys read to here. Your support means the world to me and I'm so grateful for you guys.
