Mr. Barnes

"Are you feeling better after seeing Steve?"

"No." He looked only at the doctor, refusing to look at anything else, staring holes of guilt into her soul

Yes, she wanted to help Winter Sol- Bucky. But it was practically impossible especially since Steve hovered around like a love-sick Helena. Dr. Roland sighed and took out a pen, it was going to be a long night.

Bucky shifted uncomfortably in his under-stuffed scratchy chair, "Can I please go." He begged and stood, trying to walk past her toward the door, "I would rather not talk about this or anything else for that matter."

"No Bucky, you cannot go. We have to make some progress." The doctor was firm and calm

"That's not my name." He turned, "I'd rather have you wipe me or freeze me, then do this."

Dr. Roland stood, "Mr. Barnes. Sit. Now." He refused and she stood, "I have an idea. Let's go for a walk. Just the two of us."

Bucky looked at her skeptically and then let her lead him out the door and to a waiting car, "This isn't a walk."

"You're right Bucky, it's a field trip."

He sighed and climbed into the passenger seat while Dr. Roland started the engine. They ended up at their destination half an hour later, "Where are we?"

"Where Steve was first brought. They took him to this old building, you see before you. Do you know how hard it was for him to think that he was in the past but only to realize, after hearing a baseball broadcasting, he was in the future? If you haven't already realized, it's extremely difficult." She climbed the marble steps, "This place used to be a rehab center, some place where people could get the help they need. That's where you are right now."

"No. I'm in a prison for idiots and psychos."

"There are many ways of calling a place a place."

"Which room was his?" Bucky asked as they walked up the molded creaking stairs

"He spent most of his time in the home theatre trying to play catch up on his past life and what he missed. His room? I believe that would be the year we became the United States of America."

"Oh. Which is?"

"You should be ashamed Bucky!" Dr. Roland teased

"Sorry. I haven't had that spangle-y man in my life for over 70 years. It kinda makes you forget, especially with..." He stopped and stared straight ahead at something on one of the walls

"What is it Bucky?"

"GET DOWN!" He tackled Dr. Roland down as a sniper sounded, "Someone. Something is out there and it wants us dead. Stay down. Follow me. I'll keep you safe."

"Bucky, the best thing to do is to wait it out. We don't have any weapons or any place to hide where they can't snipe. Unless-"

"Unless?"

"Unless we go to the tunnels."

"Tunnels?"

"You really need to catch up with this information! They have tunnels here, since this place has been here since the Cold War. Lots of people were saved when a few psychopaths decided to bomb this center. Let's go."

They ran as fast as they could toward the basement, skipping steps as they went, flying past doors, and trying to avoid the sniper shooter.

Once they got to the entrance of the tunnels, the sound of a door being kicked-in echoed throughout the abandoned building.

"They're here. Quickly get down behind me. Don't make a sound." Bucky crouched down and braced himself for the worst

A single light flickered on, illuminating a hooded figure near the other entrance of the tunnel. He had a sniper and looked even more menacing as he walked toward them, "Game over." He breathed

"You wish." Bucky grabbed an old metal plumbing pipe and vaulted toward the stranger

The man shot out at Bucky, then flipped over. Taking a taser out, he jammed it into Bucky's metal arm. Gritting his teeth, Bucky grabbed the man by his hood and flung him backwards, causing the material of the hood to rip.

The man gave Bucky a look that could kill, "My ex-wife bought me that."

After several intense minutes, the threat was on his hands and knees. About to finish the kill, Bucky said one thing, "Don't you ever scare the crap outta her again!"

"Bucky wait." Dr. Roland begged, "Don't kill him, just expose him for who he really is. Then we'll give him to the cops okay?"

Bucky looked at her. She looked scared shit-less, "Fine." Bucky roughly pulled the mask off the once hooded man, "Steve?!"

"Yea Buck, it's me." Steve smiled, "Glad you finally figured that out."

Bucky sat down, well more like fell down, "Why...? Oh, My head. I need some paper. Now." Steve quickly gave him his pocket notebook and a pencil. Bucky stated scribbling away. A few minutes later when his drawing was complete, he showed it to Steve and Dr. Roland, "Does this make any sense to you?"

Steve looked at it with wide eyes, "That's where your parents used to live in Brooklyn."

"Oh, it is?"

"Bucky, have you drawn things like this before?" Dr. Roland asked, intrigued

"Yes. I think I have. I have a huge poster all full of them."

"Can we go look at them?"

"Sure."

"I think you subconsciously started drawing them as a way to get the bad thoughts out of your head." Dr. Roland observed

"Really?" Bucky asked, skeptical

"Come, show me your sketches."

"Okay follow me." He walked down a hall and up a few stairs to a room, "Here we are."

"This isn't the institution, how did you get your sketches here so quickly?"

"They've always been here." Bucky smiled at Steve and the doctor's expressions of disbelief, "You can't expect me to spend all my time locked up and not have any fun or not bend the system. It's a miracle I even decide to come back, but I think, how would Steve react? Then I remember how much of a loony he was trying to find me, so even though I don't see him everyday, it's better then having to live with him. For now." Bucky's smile reached to his eyes and now he radiated happiness, innocence, and trust.

Dr. Roland walked right up to the filing cabinet in this new-found room and tried to pull it open, No luck. Steve looked at Bucky and then the filing cabinet, accepting the challenge.

'Good luck." Bucky turned waving his hand in the air and leaning against the door frame, watching amused as Steve tried to pry it open, "Super Soldier Steroids aren't going to help Steve."

"And your bucket of bolts arm will?" Steve yelled frustrated

"Yea. It will." He walked over and used his metal arm to open the cabinet easily, "Told you, Spangles"

"Whatever" Steve muttered and turned away as Dr. Roland started going over the drawings with Bucky.
