The banquet aftermath
The quiet was nice.
The undescribable temperatures of the room were peaceful.
The feeling of being everywhere and nowhere at the same time was calming.
Tommy felt as if he was floating but not moving at the same time. Wherever he currently was unlocked a new calm for him he'd never experienced before.
The entire thing was overall contradicting, but it was the most peaceful place of all time.
Had he... Died?
"No child, you have not died yet. It's not your time." Tommy was now facing a creature he'd seen before.
"XD... Your XD..." The figure laughed. The figure smiled. "Your safe, child. I just need you to wake up. Can you do that for me? Everything is going to be alright. Everything will play out like it should, child."
"Are you sure? It's painful back there. I don't want to go home." XD's smile faded a little and turned into a sadder, comforting look. "You don't understand yet. Just give it a few years' time. Things will sort itself out. You just need to wake up. Everything will be fine, Tommy. You'll be home one day."
Tommy was unsure but felt the indescribable place fade away and turn into a too clean room...
"Tommy!" Someone was holding his hand. Tommy blinked a couple of times and looked at the owner of the hand.
Tommy felt his heart sink.
"Tommy Innit Minecraft, I'm so, so, so fucking sorry for everything. I'm so sorry Tom." Tommy sat up and rubbed his eyes. "Phil..." A pink-haired young adult next to him smiled sadly. "Welcome back to the living world, Theseus."
Technoblade and Philza Minecraft, his brother and father were next to him, at his bedside. Tommy stared at Phil.
"You know?" Phil laughed. "I know everything that happened, Tom. Techno told me. He was forced to." Tommy glanced at Techno, then back at Phil. "What? What's going on? Where's Tubbo and Ranboo?" Tommy snapped his head over to Technoblade. "YOU TOLD HIM? YOU FUCKING LIAR! YOU LYING, BACKSTABBING LIAR!!" Tommy snapped at Technoblade, yelling various curses at him.
Phil looked at Tommy for a moment, letting Tommy get it off his chest, then cleared his throat. "Tommy. He didn't tell me because he wanted to. I found out on my own, then forced him to tell me the full story. I've known since I heard you screaming for Tubbo and Ranboo before passing out."
Tommy froze. "Oh... What happened then? After I passed out?"
"You almost died. For real this time. You really are stubborn, you know. Just like your mother."
----------
Philza woke up to the smell of smoke and a bunch of sleeping bodies around him. He was one of the first people to wake up after being knocked out by the gas.
Immediately he got up and began helping uncover trapped people as the ceiling fell and looked for his sons. He knew both of them showed up, though they all went separately.
"Techno! Wilbur!"
"Dad!" Phil snapped his head over to the source. Wilbur stood there, face smeared with blood and still bleeding as his once brown, now bloody red eyes stared at him with hatred.
"Wilbur!" Phil ran over to him, just to be shoved back and Wilbur to point a sharpened enchanted netherite sword at his face. "You move and shove this through your skull." Phil froze where he was laying.
Wilbur watched him for a couple of moments before laughing maniacally before tossing the sword over to Phil, making the sword and next to him. "Phil, kill me." Phil grabbed the sword and jumped up, but seemed to have no intention of stabbing Wilbur.
"Fucking END ME, PHIL!" Phil shook his head. "I can't do that, you're my son!" Wilbur laughed again as if Phil had just told him the funniest joke in the world. "Phil," Wilbur started, voice turning angry rather than happy. "Phil, I haven't been your son for a long time. TECHNO hasn't been your son. We've just been coworkers. You should have no problem there, should you?"
Phil shook his head, sobbing. "What's gotten into, Wil? This isn't you!" Wilbur shrugged and raised his hands to gesture at the current world around them. "LOOK AROUND YOU! NOTHING MATTERS PHIL! AND YOU KNOW WHAT? THIS IS ME. THIS HAS BEEN ME SINCE WE'VE BULLIED AND NEGLECTED A CHILD TO COMMITTING FUCKING SUICIDE!"
Phil sobbed harder. "MY BABY BROTHER- YOUR SON COMMITTED SUICIDE BECAUSE OF US, PHIL. WE'RE NOT A FUCKING FAMILY. Phil, we haven't been a family since mom died. Nothing matters Phil. If you don't fucking kill me right here, right now, I'm gonna do it myself. Just like Tommy did."
Phil shook his head, still sobbing violently. He dropped the sword and covered his ears. "SHUT UP! SHUT UP! I'M NOT KILLING YOU, WIL! AND GET HIS NAME OUT OF YOUR MOUTH!" Fed up with Phil and pissed off, Wilbur ran over and picked up the sword. He forced the sword into Phil's hand.
"Put me put if my misery. Otherwise, I'm turning to a life of violence, crime, and pain. I'm gonna hurt myself, Phil. I've been hurting myself. Kill me like you did Tommy" Phil shook his head and tried pulling the sword away from Wilbur's grasp. Wilbur forcefully grabbed the sword and aligned it with his heart.
"Phil, you're an awful person. And I hope to meet you in hell, bitch." Wilbur took Phil's hands and forced the sword into his chest. Immediately upon watching Wil commit suicide, he pulled the sword out of Wil's chest in hopes to undo the action, not even considering that it would make things worse.
Wilbur was a good kid. He never intended on hurting anyone or anything. As a kid, he would throw temper tantrums upon being told he had to wait to hold his new baby brother.
As a kid, Wilbur threw a fit because he found out not everything lives forever.
As a toddler and baby, he cried over being separated from his family.
Wilbur never meant harm. Even if he caused it, he didn't mean it. He was an emotional kid who never had a chance to learn to cope normally. And that was the honest truth.
He watched his family get hurt and sick. He always dropped everything to help them.
He loved his family.
Then his mom passed.
And then he directed his grief at anyone he could. His grief turned to anger and he blamed everyone. He blamed his brother.
The brother who was the last ever person to see his mother alive. He knew it wasn't his fault. But he was a kid. Just a kid whose mother passed without a chance to say goodbye or to teach him how to properly deal with his emotions.
And then without realizing it he drove his brother to a suicidal state. He never said goodbye to his brother. He didn't even say good night to his brother.
Actually, the last everything he said to his brother was, "I wish you were never born! I can't believe you. You know Tom, You should have been the one to die that day. Not mom. We don't you go fucking kill yourself?" Said it in a fit of rage over a stupid meaningless argument.
The last thing his brother ever said to him should've been a red flag. He should have gotten the hint that Tommy had given up and taken Wilbur's advice literal.
"Maybe I will."
The last thing Tommy ever said to him.
He pushed away his friends. His family. Everyone that ever loved him.
Them he grew up. Became successful. Got rich.
Fought with the remainder of his living family.
Got left behind.
Found the egg.
Wilbur died to suicide at age 21 in the Logstedshire gymnasium around 11:15 pm. An official date never got to be recorded due to the devastating disaster at the local gym.
He became a part of the many people that never got to leave the gym that day.
"TOMMY!"
-------
"He... What?" Phil grabbed Tommy's hands. "Tommy, Wilbur passed away." Tommy stared at him in disbelief. "He committed suicide at the banquet."
Tommy said nothing as he processed the information.
Tommy shot his head back up, looking like he just realized something. "Tubbo... Ranboo..."
Phil took a deep breath. "Heroes tried to rescue them. They've been unsuccessful so far. A lot of people went missing, Tom."
"We don't have a clue where they are. All we know is that there is a possibility they were taken hostile. Don't beat yourself up over this. There was nothing you could do. After you passed out, Techno patched you up as the heroes tried and failed to save them. Everyone is doing their best right now."
Tommy felt his eyes burn and his face get wet.
He didn't realize was sobbing until he heard himself cry harder than he ever did.
-------
A nice funeral was held for Wilbur after Tommy had been released from the hospital. It was a tiny funeral. The only people who showed up were Tommy, Techno, Phil, a couple of others who had attended Mumza's funeral, and a few of Wilbur's old friends.
Everyone said something nice about him and shared stories from Wilbur's childhood. No one mentioned what things were like at the end. Like most heroes who pass away, His gravestone was a statue of him in a special place. A nice, quiet, and peaceful spot deep into the forest was chosen for him.
To help others find his grave, there was a cobblestone path that led back to the main graveyard. On his gravestone, a short summary of Wilbur's life was written into the front side of the stone- the one that faced the cobble path. A park bench was placed on the left and right sides of the statue. The left bench was dedicated to Mumza. The right to Tommy.
Tommy watched as the funeral ended and people filed out of the gravesite, leaving the Minecraft family behind. Tommy sat on the Mumza bench and started up at the well-carved stone Wilbur statue.
The people who made the statue carved Mumza on the left next to the bench, hugging a young Wilbur as a toddler Tommy hugged one of Wilbur's legs since he was so short and little. The people who made the statue based it off of an old photo of Tommy and Wilbur.
Tommy smiled at the statue. It was actually sort of endearing. Tommy heard someone sit down next to him, but he didn't look at him since he was too busy with the beautiful statue.
"Tommy."
"Technoblade."
Techno sighed. "You know, you should come work with us over at the Syndicate. I'll welcome you with open arms, Tom."
Tommy looked over at Techno. "Really?" Techno nodded. "I want to spend more time with you. Plus, I promise we pay well." Techno joked, earning a dry laugh from Tommy. "You know what... Fuck it. Just give me enough time to help look for them- Tubbo and Ranboo.
"Of course." Techno got up and walked over to the statue. He reached up and touched their mother's carefully carved face and smiled weakly. "They did a good job."
Tommy smiled a weak smile similar to Techno's. "Yeah. They did, didn't they?"
--------
Tommy switched over to working at the syndicate. He got an assistant position for a random hero he'd never heard of before and was trusted with paperwork. It was definitely harder work than at the cafe, but it certainly paid better. Which was helpful considering he was dealing with bills on his own now.
No, that was a poor mindset.
Tommy spent his free time searching everywhere for Tubbo and Ranboo. Even Jn the most likely of places. He even went as far as searching in L'manberg for XD's sake! He hadn't been there since he faked his death and ran away with Ranboo.
He did anything to find a hint. Even the smallest of a hint he searched for.
And he got nowhere until he started going through Tubbo and Ranboo's things.
Tommy began losing hope in the outside world. So, he decided to try a possibility that seemed to be 0%. The apartment.
Tommy opened one of the books in Ranboo's room. It was his favorite book. Ranboo had always said he related to it and that it brought back a lot of memories for him.
Tommy skimmed through the story for anything. A scratch, a bent page, a bookmark, a rip in the page, even a little hidden piece of paper.
Tommy's eyes widened as a small, folded piece of paper fell out of the book and into his lap. Tommy quickly tossed the book aside and unfolded the paper.
"Don't forget the memory book underneath the loose floorboard." Tommy felt his heart begin to beat faster as he lifted Ranboo's purple carpet and check all of the floorboards. He didn't care about the splinters it was giving him. Anything to get to the only hint he'd found.
Floorboard after floorboard. He finally found the right one.
Tommy opened the memory book and carefully read each word.
(The Eggpire base is exactly 42 blocks east from the gymnasium. Don't forget.)
