The Chosen Door
After the ceremony, there was a celebration put in place inside the palace. It reminded me of my birthday party, but it was bigger, and the guests were mostly smiling. I knew my father wasn't a good king, and didn't do much good in the years he spent governing the country, but I didn't know this many people were happy that he was dead. While people danced and enjoyed the festivities, I sat to Soo-won's right side, on a small throne. I participated in small banter between him and our guests, not wanting to be impolite. "Princess," Soo-won called, getting my attention. "Yes, your highness?" He smiled, extending his hand at me. "Could I have this dance?"
I wasn't really in the mood, with everything that happened just last night, but everyone was watching, this being his first dance since he became a king, so I complied. I placed my hand in his, allowing him to lead me to the center of the room. The band began to play, and we began to dance, with everyone looking at us in awe. After a little bit, I really started to feel the mood, giving my moves a bit more emotion. I very much knew that between the sisters, I was the one who mostly enjoyed to dance and frolic during parties, so I guess it was a bit weird seeing me just sit and stare. "You're enjoying yourself," Soo-won laughed, spinning me around.
When the music came to an end, the guests clapped in amusement, and I smiled at Soo-won. I finally felt a little better, realizing that maybe, everything happened for a reason. Maybe all I was going through, all the loss and heartache was for the good of the kingdom. Sitting back on my chair, I was approached by Mundok, who was accompanied by a young man with short, black hair and blue eyes. "I apologize for the occurrence during the meeting, Princess Vienna," he spoke, giving me a small bow. I shook my head, "There's no hard feelings." He then proceeded to introduce the young man to me. "This is Tae-woo, one of our best guards. I'll be training him to be the next general."
The boy then bowed, and I returned the gesture. He was younger than Hak was, and looked a little scrawny, but taking into consideration how Mundok was vouching for him, he sounded a bit promising. "I'll be looking forward to your achievements, General Tae-woo," I gave him a small smile, and before the conversation went any further, Ahi put his hand on my shoulder. "Princess, it's getting late now. I'll escort you to your chambers." I nodded at him, excusing myself in order to get some rest. So-won was on the other side of the room, entertaining guests, so I just nodded at him from afar, gaining one from him back. Once at my room, I changed clothes and laid down to sleep, having the most vivid dream.

There was a waterfall at the side of some cliffs, with the bright rays of sun reflecting the water and making a rainbow. I stood aside my sister, Yona, whom had a weird haircut, seemingly missing the lock of hair I had seen the night before. We both looked down at a blond man, whom was sitting crossed legged near the edge of the cliff. "Priest?" My sister called, and the man turned around, revealing his crying face. He rapidly wiped away his tears when Yona asked what was wrong, and he began to speak.
"I had a dream about you... A dream about you and this world. Princess, would you like to hear the voice of God?" I understood this man was speaking to Yona, but why did I feel like he was referring to me too? It seemed like I was watching a conversation that had already happened. "Mundok told me to have the priest show me my path. Is a path something that must be shown to you? I thought I was supposed to sit still, not doing anything. But after being chased, Hak nearly getting killed, and nearly dying myself, my blood is so hot, it's practically boiling. I can walk on my own two legs. I want to live. I won't let anyone take my life or Hak's!"
I couldn't believe this was my sister speaking. Clearly, it was a dream, for she never spoke like this whenever we were around each other. "That is my on,y wish," she finished. "No... For you, living doesn't mean spending your days in ordinary peace. Your life will create a storm that will shake the kingdom of Kouka. If you wish to simply live an honest life, and cannot stop the hot blood in your veins, I will convey the voice of God to you." The priest said, putting his hands together and looking up at the heavens.
"When darkness falls upon the land, the dragon's blood will restore life once more. In accordance with the ancient pact, when the four dragons are gathered, the sword and shield that protect the royals will awaken. The red dragon will return at dawn. The purple dragon will return at twilight," I understood some of what this priest had said. In my previous studies, I had come across the legend of King Hiryuu, Queen Kuuto and the four dragons.
The red and purple dragons took on human form, descending from heaven to rule a kingdom on Earth. They were the first rulers of Kouka, King Hiryuu and Queen Kuuto. But once they became human, eventually, they had to fight humans. The people's hearts filled with evil, they forgot their god, and their country fell to ruin. Even the rulers were captured by humans who desired power. Just when everything seemed on the brink of destruction, four dragons descended from heaven. They rejected the dragons who came to get them, saying that they were now human, and though the humans may hate and betray them, they cannot help but love them. The dragons loved Hiryuu and Kuuto, as well, and did not wish to loose them. In order to protect them, the dragons gave their blood to human warriors and gave them strength. They would serve Hiryuu and Kuuto as their masters, protecting them and loving them. Two of the dragons, however, were more fond of Kuuto, thus appointing her as their main master. Before long, the purple and red dragons grew tired of fighting, and fell asleep. The four dragon warriors then left their tribes and disappeared.
"What does that have to do with me?" "Princess, you want to live, correct? But you cannot live on your own, or your life will be in danger again. You need allies, so you must search for the four dragon warriors that live quietly in this kingdom. They will lend you their strength." At his words, I thought of if everything was even possible, and how all of this had to do with me. Hak, whom I didn't know was there, asked a few irrelevant questions, and they later left me alone with the priest. Apparently they couldn't see me, which was weird enough for a dream.
"You're probably wondering what all of this has to do with you," I jumped at the priests' words, seeing him turn to look at me. "The heavens have showed you the way. You must join your sister in finding the dragons. It is your destiny." "B-but sir, my sister's dead, and so is Hak! And even so, I have no business in working with murderers," I exclaimed, trying to get my point across. I furrowed my brow, clearly enraged. "The heavens have showed you the way, but it is up to you to walk the path," he added to his previous remark. The priest stood, walking closer towards me, and slightly smiling. "You and your sister share the same, fiery look in your eyes, even if you aren't much alike. Just like a wild beast. But please, do the heavens a favor, and look into who you trust. Most people aren't what they seem."

With these words I awoke, panting from the dream. It took Ahi and Soo-won barging in to notice I was back in my room at the castle, sitting in my bed. "Princess, are you okay?" The king asked, kneeling aside me, putting his hand in the whole of my back, and rubbing my hand with his thumb. Ahi was in front of me, looking into my eyes. I could hear them faintly calling my name, but my body was still trying to adjust to being awake. After a few seconds, my body stopped shaking, and I managed to move around.
"I'm sorry, I-I'm alright," my shaky, hoarse voice croaked out, giving them a weird smile. "Are you sure? I don't want you pushing yourself." "You should rest if you're unwell," Ahi and Soo-won said, but I shook my head. There was far too much to do here to start caring about a stupid dream. "I'm okay, I promise." After a few minutes, I managed to convince them and got them out of my room, getting dressed and ready for the day.
At breakfast, Soo-won asked me to look into the taxes accounts. "You'd like to know if the taxes were illegally managed?" I asked, tilting my head. "I don't mean to think idly of your late father, but..." "No worries," I smiled, "I know for a fact that anything can happen behind closed doors. I'll look into the manner with Kye-sook, if it is possible." He nodded, motioning to his advisor. "Of course I will lend you my assistance, princess." Other than this, my head still occasionally wondered to the dream I had, but I dismissed it every time. My duty to my people would always come first.
