Chapter 12 - Friday Date
Ink's POV
Ever since Error threatened the transfer, everyone has been leaving me alone. Today was Friday which was the day Error and I planned to go out together. The thought of it started bringing rainbow blush to my cheeks.
'Come on Ink, pull it together. It's just a simple date. Like a hangout day, nothing more.'
I still couldn't believe that Error asked me out. It's not like I was a total artistic nerd and he was the most popular male monster in the entire school. Why would he date me when he can have practically any woman fall to his feet.
Sighing, I traced my pencil against the surface of my sketchbook. It was the last hour of the school day and I was becoming anxious. Never in my entire life have I gone on a date and everything was scary to me. I was afraid I would mess it up.
Then, the bell rung. I pushed myself up from my desk and began walking to the front of the building. When I reached the gates I noticed Error waiting for me. He saw me and motioned me over.
Error: Hey Ink.
Me: H-Hey.
Error: I'll pick you up at five. Is that alright with you?
I nodded before slowly walking off to go home. I knew that I was going to have to text mom about this. This is the one time I really need her help with appearance. Although, hope wasn't lost as I remembered my online friend, Void.
However, he wasn't any help since he didn't know what I looked like. I guess I was going to have to wing it.

I chose black skinny jeans and a beige shirt with a white cardigan. The finishing touch was my old but treasured brown scarf. After looking in a mirror I decided that I was decent enough.
There was suddenly a knock on the front door. Ginger got up and stared at it, ready for any possible threat. When I opened it to see who is was, she quickly calmed down. It was Error.
Error was wearing dark grey jeans, red shoes, a white shirt with a black leather jacket covering it. I had to say he looked pretty attractive.
Error: Checking me out, Ink?
Me: N-No I was just seeing what you were wearing.
I nervously laughed as I began to fidget with my brown scarf. I didn't understand why I was so tongue tied. Error smiled before handing me a flower which just happened to be my favorite. It was a pink lily.
Me: How did you know?
Error: I had a hunch. Anyway, ready to get going?
Nodding my head, I stepped out of the house. Ginger however did not the like the idea of staying home by herself.
Me: Can I bring Ginger?
Error: Go ahead. I don't mind if she tags along.
After attaching the leash to her collar, I locked the front door and followed Error. He led me to a car parked in the driveway. It was a very expensive car. Something my family could only have visions of.
Error opened the back side of the car for Ginger, then opened the passenger door for me. I thanked him as I got in the seat. Pushing a button to start the vehicle, we were ready to start our date.
My eyes watched the city as it passed by. I've always thought that the city in the evening was beautiful. There was a noticeable silence between Error and I but it wasn't awkward. Although, I decided to start up a conversation.
Me: Is this your car?
Error: Yeah. It was given to me when I turned sixteen.
Me: How come I have never seen it in the parking lot at school?
Error: Two reasons. One, thieves and two, I don't like flexing the fact that my family has money. It doesn't feel right to me.
I observed the several buttons and triggers on the cars dashboard. This caused us to become silent again because I was focused on the features of the Error's vehicle. A question came to me.
Me: Where are we going?
Error smiled.
Error: Drive-in theater.
There was a smile that appeared on my face. Drive-in theaters were one of my favorite places. He must have been really good at guessing because I never told him anything that I liked.
Me: I love those. What movie?
Error: Whatever you want.
My smile only grew as I had hope that this was going to be an awesome experience.
The car slowed down as we arrived at our destination. Error and I stepped out to choose what movie we wanted to see. I wanted to pick between three romance movies. One was about assassins, second was an artist who fell in love with artificial intelligence, and third was over a depressed person who learned how to love again.
I decided to go with the third movie. I haven't seen it before and it looked interesting. We were allowed in so we got back in the car to find a good space. A giant screen stood over the cars that were parked close to it. I last time I went to a theater like it, was before dad died.
Error and I had enough time to get the snacks we wanted and come back. We had to take Ginger with us because she was my guard dog. I held our food while Error opened the trunk of his car. He pulled out something that was folded. It stretched out to create a large platform for us to sit or lay on.
He laid out a few pillows and blankets which I didn't know he had with him on the platform. He motioned for me to sit down to get comfortable. Once I was settled, I leaned back into the pillows. They were surprisingly very soft.
Error sat next to me but kept a small distance between us as to not intrude my personal space. Ginger jumped up onto the platform and rested herself near my feet.
The snacks were set out to eat, there was comfort, and there was a movie to watch. I couldn't think of anything better.
Everything went silent as the movie started to play.

It was around half of the movie and I noticed Error and I have moved closer to each other. Suddenly, I sensed Error looking at me. I looked up to give him eye contact.
Error: Can I ask you something, Ink?
Me: Sure.
Error: Is it okay if I put my arm around your shoulder?
I felt my cheeks flare up with rainbow blush but I didn't reject. I felt Error put his arm around my shoulder and I strangely enjoyed the feeling of it.
We continued watching the movie but I felt myself begin to lean against Error's chest. I didn't do anything to stop it.
(Time Skip)
My eyes opened to see that I was in the passenger seat once more and the car was moving down the road. Error was driving with a content expression on his face. Pushing myself up, I attracted the attention of him.
Error: How was your nap?
Me: Good. Did I fall asleep?
He nodded without looking away from the road.
I looked back to see Ginger sleeping, sprawled out across the back seats. Then, I remembered when Error had his arm around my shoulder. It caused me to blush a dark shade of rainbow. I looked at Error. He didn't seem to take notice. I saw that his right arm, which was not being used to drive, was resting on the armrest. I nervously raised my hand and gently took hold of his.
I guess I somewhat surprised Error as he quickly looked at our hands. He slightly smiled before positioning his hand to where our fingers were now intertwined with one another. I turned my head away to hide my rainbow blush.
A few minutes later and we were now parked outside of my house. I opened the car door to get out. Ginger woke up with a large stretch. She jumped out before joining me at the front entrance.
Error: I had fun, Ink.
I went silent for a split second, then I responded while giving him a smile.
Me: I did as well.
Error: Maybe we can do this again some time?
Me: ...
I'd love to
