Chapter 5
"What are you doing on my bed?!?" I jump as I hear Raph's loud voice.
"Nothin'," I say truthfully.
"You didn't let me finish...I meant what are doing on my bed without me?" He smirks.
"Shut up, you're lucky I'm not one of those girls who get offended when they hear comments like that or else you'd be dead right about now," I say standing up.
Grabbing my phone I head towards the couch. April wasn't here yet, I started to worry when I got a text from her.
Sorry, can't make it to the lair. Come home I'll explain and give you the file folder
I frowned confused. Suddenly I felt light headed. I grabbed my back pack and took out a small mirror.
I gasped as I saw how sick I looked. Dark circles around my eyes. The color of my eyes looked dull and faded. Plus, I was paler than usual.
"Hey, Victoria, wanna skateboard with me?" Mikey walked in.
"Uh, no thanks," I grabbed my backpack and put it on, "I have to go. How about tomorrow, Mikey?"
"Okie-dokie," He said happily.
"Why don't you bother Raph for a while?" I suggested.
"That's a great idea! Raph!" Mikey ran off to find his brother.
"Victoria, Donnie's got the safe for the Jade ready we just-woah, are you feeling okay?" Leo stopped when he saw me.
"Yeah, I guess I'm just catching a cold," I dug through my backpack and pulled out the jewel, "Here. Gotta go, tell Splinter I'll be here for training tomorrow."
"Okay, see you," Leo took the Jade and I left.
Once I made it to the apartment I dropped my backpack onto the kitchen counter top.
"April! I have arrived!" I said in a proper voice.
April walked in and handed me Alice White's file, "I don't know why you want it, but here. I trust that you won't do anything stupid."
"Sure," I said slowly, "Anyway, why couldn't you just come to the lair?"
"Some psycho in a hockey mask was hanging around in the alley, and I couldn't just go down to the sewers. He could've seen me," April replied.
"What'd he want?"
"To see the motorcycle chick apparently," She seemed annoyed.
"Me?" I say confused.
"Yep, he wanted to talk to you about something. Then when he realized I was a reporter he decided to let me join the club, and now he wants to meet both of us," She purses her lips.
"I get why he wants to meet me, but you?" I say only it came out more rudely than intended, "Not that he-uh sorry that came out wrong."
"He wants me to help get a story out there. If I only had an idea of what kind of story this is," She says.
"Oh, it'll most likely be the one about the police being paid off by the Foot Clan to keep quiet about their crimes," I blurt out.
April narrows her eyes, "When did you find out about this?"
"Earlier this week?" I shrug nervously.
"I am going to kill you for keeping something like this quiet!" She lunges at me.
I yelp and dive out of the way. Running to the bathroom I lock the door so she can't get in.
"Ha! Whatcha gonna do now?" I mock.
"You know I wonder how Raph would react if I told him you have a picture of him sleeping?" April wondered sarcastically.
"You don't have proof!"
"Oh, what's this? Victoria's phone on the floor? Wonder how long it'll take Donnie to crack the passcode?" She sarcastically thought.
"April! Don't I have stuff in there that's private!"
"Ooh, bet Raph would love to see your private stuff. Let me just call them over."
Panicked and flung open the door. Tackling April I took my phone back and hand my hands up in surrender.
"Okay, I'm sorry. I should've told you about the cop thing," I said.
She sighed, "It's fine. C'mon it's like four in the morning."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"She shoots, she scores! Goal!" I yell throwing my hands up in victory, game control still in hand.
Mikey and I were playing Fifa. And not to brag, but I've won 5/5 games played so far.
"I swear you're cheating," Mikey said in amazement.
"What can I say? I'm a pro at these things," I shrug.
"Mikey, Victoria," Donnie sighed, "The computers are for monitoring for potential Foot activity, not for silly soccer games."
"Fifa is not just a silly soccer game, it's life," I crossed my arms and leaned back in my chair.
Suddenly, there were red flashes of light as the computers started to beep uncontrollably.
"Move!" Donnie pushes me out of the chair and onto the floor. The others run in.
"Donnie, what's happening?" Raph asks.
"Victoria, get up off the floor its dirty," Leo frowns when he sees me.
"Gee, thanks for the tip," I mutter getting up, dusting myself off.
On the screens reporters from almost every news channel stood outside the old Sacks industries building. Apparently, it's been reopened by a new investor.
A different news report catches by eyes. It's on the far end computer.
I gasp, "Guys! Same-sex marriage is legalized!!!"
"No way! That's awesome!" Mikey yells.
"Now my friend can get married!" I yelled happily.
"Who?" Donnie asks.
"He's a cafe owner, maybe you guys'll get to meet him," I shrug.
"Okay, we need to focus," Leo says.
"Right, sorry I was just excited that's all," I clear my throat, "Um why is Sacks industries back open for business?"
"Someone's decided to buy the building, It won't be Sacks Industries anymore," Donnie replies.
"Who bought it?"
"Uh, all I can get is Milo Industries," Donnie types away in his computer.
"Hmm, someone wants to buy an evil ex-billionaire's old science building, sounds suspicious," I announce, "We should investigate."
"No, we shouldn't," Leo says, "They could be ordinary people looking to expand their company."
"Mr.Milo just announced a reward for the safe return of the Jadeite Jade, he hopes the mayor's prize gem will be safe and back in the mayor's hands," A reporter announces.
I cross my arms over my chest and give Leo a look, "See."
"All I see is a man who wants the Jadeite returned back safe and sound to the mayor," Leo shakes his head.
"So he can steal it," I argue.
"No, we are not going to investigate an innocent man," Leo stated.
"We? Pretty sure you mean you guys aren't, for years I've been on my own and I still am apparently," I fire teleported out of the lair angrily.
I ended up on the roof of the Channel 6 News room.
Climbing down the fire escape I reached the ground.
"Didn't think I'd be seeing you again," A voice said behind me.
I whirled around to see Cody.
Then he laughed, "Nah, I figured it'd be sooner or later when I'd see you again."
"What do you want now?"
"Have you made contact with my cousin m?" He asked.
"Yeah about that, you failed to mention that she's the Mayor's daughter!" I said.
"Oh, sorry must've slipped my mind," He smirked.
"So you basically lied when you said you didn't know where she was? Cause it seems to me that you could easily warn them yourself," I crossed my arms.
"I don't know where she is, she doesn't live with her father, her parents aren't really together so she usually stays with her mother," He said shaking his head.
"And her friend? Mars?"
"Venus-"
"Close enough, both are planets. Don't suppose you know where she is?" I asked.
"Sorry, if I did I wouldn't have to ask you for help," He shrugged.
My phone beeped as I got a message from April.
"Looks like you're needed somewhere else," Cody said, "Better take the rooftops or the cops will take you down when they spot you."
"Noted," I sarcastically smiled.
Making my way towards where April was waiting for me I saw her down by the alley where we were going to meet the hockey mask guy.
"Hi-ya!" I said as I scared her when I jumped down, landing behind her.
"Ah!" She yelped.
I started to laugh. Then trying to stop I said, "What-what kind of noise came out of-you?"
"Shut up," Her face turned red, "Where have you been? Leo said you left when you got angry about something."
"Just needed some air is all," I shrugged.
"Its getting really dark, where is he?" April looked around.
"That's why they invented street lamps," I pointed to the one above us that just came on, "But if he doesn't get here soon I'm leavin'."
"Aww, why so soon?" A voice said behind me, "You didn't even say hi."
"Look, Hockey Boy, tell us what we need to know so we can leave," I said, "I've got better things to do."
"Like trying to steer clear of the cops?" He guessed with a smirk.
"No, as a matter of fact, right now I should be beatin' the shit out of a stupid mother fucker with a mask on."
"Victoria, please be nice," April sighed.
"Hello, Ms. O'Neil," Hockey Boy acknowledged April.
"Okay, Hockey Boy," April said, "What is it exactly that you want?"
"As you both are already aware of, the police are being paid off by the Foot Clan," He said taking his Hockey Stick and twirling it a bit, "But as far as I know, you two are the only people outside of the Force that know that. I need your help to expose them."
"Why and how do you know that the cops are with the Foot Clan?" I ask.
"A friend of mine hacked into police mainframes around New York," He replied, "They discovered that this isn't the first time the cops have done something like this."
"What do you mean?" April asks.
"It's nothing like this, though. The cops have let the Foot get away with so many crimes, kidnapping, theft...murder," He continued.
I frowned. The way he said the last thing was different. It was more full of emotion.
"And what do you need us to do?" I ask.
"Expose them, help me expose them, and you, O'Neil, will get this story on the News Channel 6," Hockey boy pointed at April with his hockey stick.
"Okay," I agreed.
April looked at me, "How exactly are we supposed to do this?"
"I'll admit it's not going to be easy, but first things first...who are you really?" I face Hockey Boy.
He chuckles, "Jones, Casey Jones."
"Okay, Jones," I say.
"Take off your mask," April says.
He reluctantly takes of his hockey mask slowly.
I lean towards April and whisper, "Woah, he's hot."
"Thanks, but I maybe too old for you," Casey says smugly.
"I'm-"
"Nineteen, yeah, you look fifteen," Casey grins.
I see April check him out out of the corner of my eye, "Well, um, Casey, I guess we'll be in touch."
"Let's go, Hot Stuff," I grab April's arm.
