Chapter 2
"What were they after?" Vern asks when we get back to the lair.
"The key to the Mayor's vault," Donnie replies,"they wanted something to take to their boss..." He trails off.
"Who is?" I answer Vern's question.
"My dumb-ass dad who apparently isn't as dead as I would've hoped him to be."
"Shredder? He's alive?" April asks worried.
"Guess you aren't the only person that's back," Vern says to me.
"We have to find out what those guys were after," Leo says,"Donnie you need to find out what exactly is in that vault."
"On it," Donnie left the room and went towards his computer system.
"What do we do when we find what it is?" Raph asks.
"We have to get it before Shredder does," Leo replies.
"How do ya plan on doing that? It's the Mayor's vault, pretty sure they got high security on it," Raph asks.
"Especially now that the officials know that others are after the vault," April adds.
"We need someone to actually go inside and retrieve whatever the item is," Vern says,"but they'll need the key to be authorized through."
"Who has the key?" Leo asks.
"Mayors daughter," April says,"I remember interviewing her and she mentioned something about a key she has to keep safe."
"No, she doesn't have it," they all turned to me,"because I do."
I pulled the key from my pocket and showed it to them.
"Some girl gave it to me, I didn't recognize her at first. But now I remember her from some tabloid I, uh...'" I said turning a bit red.
"Stole?" Vern offered with an eyebrow raised.
"I like to think of it more as burrowed," I grinned,"anyway, she gave to me and then motioned for me to keep it a secret."
"Great, so that means one of you three has to get the thing," Leo motioned to Vern, April, and me.
"It's a Jadeite Jade. One of the rarest jewels in the world," Donnie said.
"Why does Shredder want that?" Raph asks.
"That jewel was an ingredient added to the mutagen to turn it into elemental mutagen," I explained,"when I was little, I would go into the laboratory where they kept the mutagen. I would overhear things and saw the jewels."
"How does it make it into elemental?" Mikey asks somewhat paying attention.
"Don't know, but I know it does. That's why Shredder's after it. Although he'll still need some of my blood, since I have the original mutagen in my system," I sighed.
"So who's going for the jewel?" Mikey asks.
"April and I can go," I said,"I'll make sure no one tries anything."
"Great, now here," Donnie hands us a picture of the jewel,"the Mayor has a lot of valuable jewels and items stored in the vault. This way you won't take too long to find it."
"We'll head over tomorrow," April says.
"I'll drive," Vern says.
"In a car, with you?" I say.
"That way you won't draw attention to yourselves. It's better if you get out of the same vehicle," Vern replies.
"Fine," I say,"we better go. It's nearly 4:30 am."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I closed the door of Vern's new car. He managed to convince the news channel to give him another one.
"Be back in about half an hour," April said.
We walked into the bank and noticed more guards stationed around the room.
"May I help you?" The lady at the front asked us.
"Um, we're here on behalf of the mayor," April said.
The lady's face hardened, examining us.
"Who would you be?" She asked.
"We're undercover FBI agents arranged to relocate the Jadeite Jade to our secret facilities and have it protected," I said.
"ID?"
"We have something better," I pulled out the key.
She took it and closely examined it, turning it slowly.
"Very well, follow me," She motioned for two guards to follow as well.
We traveled down a long corridor. At the end was a huge vault door, like the ones in cartoons.
"A huge vault door, not at all obvious," I muttered.
"Yes, well we kept it from the old bank that once stood here," the lady said.
"This small key opens that gigantic door?" April asked.
"Yes, now watch and learn," the lady said.
She turned the wheel on the door and opened a small section of it.
There was a key hole. She placed the key inside and turned it. A key pad popped up. She turned to us.
"You have to put in the code," she said.
I looked at April. Slowly I walked up to the key pad.
Making sure I blocked the key pad from everyone's view, I froze and unfroze it.
Somehow it worked.
"Access granted," a computerized voice replied.
The door slid opened and inside I saw money, several jewels, documents, and some family heirlooms.
I walked in and looked around. I spotted the jewel and grabbed it.
Turning around I was stopped when someone grabbed my wrist and twisted my arm behind me.
"Thank you for this, Victoria," I recognized the lady's voice.
"Don't be surprised, did you really think Snake wouldn't have eyes on the inside?" She chuckled.
I saw April being held my the two guards. They held her mouth shut.
"Did Snake forget to mention something about me?" I ask.
"You're Shredder's daughter, big deal," she said.
"Nope," I made my fist light up with fire.
The lady screamed and threw me away. she held her blistering hand.
"I'm an elemental mutant," I said.
I looked at the two guards. Looking at one another, they ran off leaving April.
"Might want to get tougher guards," I said.
"Let's go," April said.
We ran down the corridor. As we neared the exit, a black van pulled up.
"April, take the jewel and run," I gave the Jadeite to April.
"But-"
"Don't argue," I said sternly.
"The guys aren't gonna be too happy," she muttered and ran off.
I looked at the van. Two men watched people enter and leave the bank.
"Time to get in my daily exercise," I said to myself.
Walking towards the van, I wasn't exactly sure what I was going to do.
"That's her," I heard one of the men say as I neared the van.
"Freeze," the man exited the van and pulled out a gun.
"Funny, I was about to say the same about you," I smirked and stepped one foot forward.
A trail of ice gathered up towards the two men. Freezing then solid.
More men came up, so I took off running.
I jumped towards the rooftops and traveled by rooftops. I looked back and noticed Foot Soldiers instead of Snake's men following me.
"Great, my dad's pets are now after me," I said bluntly, jumping over an ally.
I stopped and turned to face them. Making a katana out of ice I launched at them.
Dodging their blows and kicks, I took them out one by one.
Then someone new arrived. He had black shaggy hair and bright blue eyes. Not to mention way more built and taller than the others, even me.
But this guys seemed different, I could sense it. He seemed more and better trained.
He took out a metal Bo staff. I grinned and he charged.
I managed to dodge his first attack. I blocked his Bo and I pushed him back. He smirked and launched again.
I took a blow and flew back as the Bo made contact with my stomach. Getting up I grinned.
"Finally a challenge."
I jumped up and brought the ice katana down towards him. He jumped out of the way and landed on the ledge of the building.
I threw a fireball at him. He jumped down into the ally to avoid it. I flipped down, only to have a trash can collide with me .
"Thought you'd be faster and dodge that," the guy mocked me.
He came up to me and stood over me. Then he raised his Bo, a naginata blade appeared.
Quickly I swept his feet and he fell backwards. I jumped up and placed my foot over his chest.
"Guess you underestimated me," I said.
He laughed and raised his hands up in defeat. I raised an eyebrow.
"Okay, you got me," He chuckled.
"Huh?" I ask confused.
"If you don't mind, I want to get up," he said.
"As a matter of fact, I do mind," I said.
"Fair enough," he grabbed my foot and twisted it.
I spun around and hit the ground.
"Guess you underestimated me," he smirked.
He got up and then for some reason, helped me up.
"My names Cody," he said.
"Didn't really care," I said.
"If you're wondering why I'm doing this, it's because you're pretty and a girl who can actually fight," Cody said.
"Don't get ahead of yourself," I snapped.
"I'm not, but I could use your help," he said,"you see my cousin and her friend are in trouble. But I can't help them."
"What am I going to be able to do?"
"You can find and warn or possibly protect them."
"Why would I do that? Beside why should I even believe the guy that just tried to kill me?"
"Because, if you don't, then Shredder will hurt them. Do you really want two girls to fall into the clutches of Shredder? The man that made you into what you are?"
Memories flashed through my mind. I winced at them.
"I guess not," I replied.
"Then let's make a deal, I won't kill you as long as you keep my cousin and her friend safe," Cody said.
"Deal, who's your cousin?" I ask.
"Did I forget to mention that you'll have to track her down? Yeah, I don't know where she is, name's Alice White and her friends nickname is Venus," He said.
"When I do find them and warn them, what happens to the deal?" I ask.
"It's over," he replies,"oh, and you can't tell anyone about this."
He left, but not before handing me a message.
I may not be able to kill you now, but the clan can try
Then I noticed shadows around me. I turned on the spot and fire teleported away.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Where were you?!?"
I arrived at April's apartment and she instantly asked me where I was.
"Had to shake off the Foot Clan," I said.
"It took you three hours?" She asked curious.
"There were a lot of them, and I met someone new to the Foot," I said.
"Who?"
"Name's Cody, good fighter. Kept me busy, but still...I was better," I grinned.
"Whoever he is, he's with the Foot so he's probably bad news," April said.
"Exactly, now what's for lunch? I'm starving," I said
"Of course you are," April sighed.
I rolled my eyes at her comment and sat down to watch some tv. When I flipped it on it was on the news channel.
"Police are on the scene of an alleged robbery at the bank," the reporter says.
"Robbery? Are they talking about us?" April asked.
"Fifty million dollars were stolen right after the removal of the Mayor's Jadeite Jade, luckily it was transferred safely to a classified location in time," the reporter says.
"Good, they aren't after us," I sigh.
"The Mayor's daughter has informed us that the jewel is in good hands and will be kept safe," the reporter finishes, it changes the image to the anchors.
"In other news, Foot Clan activity has reappeared and is rising. With I Foot Clan activity in the past year authorities are wondering what caused this dangerous group to put itself back on the chart. With-"
I turn it off.
"How long ago has Foot activity started up?" I ask April.
"About 2 months. Why?" She asks.
"No reason," I say pursing my lips.
