"ow!" sooyoung exclaimed in pain.

"soo!" a panicked boy rushed to her. "are you okay?"

"obviously not, idiot!" she yelled with her eyes getting glossy. "i just sprained my ankle!"

"okay, calm down." the ravenette tries his best to make her relax, crouching down. "why don't you get on my back?"

"no! i don't wanna be seen on jung wooyoung's back." she rolled her teary eyes.

wooyoung smiled. "so you don't mind if i leave you here?" he felt like talking to a kid throwing a tantrum. "i'll just go get a bandage and an ice pack in the infirmary."

"but what if something gets me and i have no one to depend on?" the girl nervously mumbles. "you have to be that someone as my boyfriend!"

"it'll just be a minute." he shrugged, standing up. "but i did hear about a little girl who only shows up around," he looked at discreetly his watch, "six a.m."

"it's not funny, jung." sooyoung warns despite getting creeped out.

"i know." wooyoung agreed. "oh, well. i better go get that ice pack since your leg might get even more swollen."

"wait!" she grabbed his arm. "jung, i will kill you if leave me here."

"what do you want me to do, soo?"

sooyoung gruffed. "carry me."

"fuck, i hate gym." sooyoung muttered under her breath, enough for minjee to hear.

"i hate how they scheduled it after lunch." her shorter friend stated. "like, we need to digest."

the transferee lets out a prolonged exhale. "but why do we even have to do this? it's not like people will make us jog in an interview."

"cheer up, soo! i'm sure we'll have fun."

seeing how beaming minjee is, sooyoung simply gave her a weak smile.

the students were told that they would be learning the basics of basketball, which means it involve running. and balls. and sweating. and everything sooyoung hated.

she internally groans, getting in position.

the class was divided into two. people forming a large circle, and people forming a smaller circle inside of it. they were to pass the balls toward each other while moving in a clockwise motion until they got back to their original partner. (a/n: we actually used to do this at school but i don't know if i explained well:'))

the exercise started off well, since it was fairly easy. some classmates having fun with their friends by tossing the ball stronger than a simple pass.

one boy couldn't catch it, resulting the ball to slip off his hands and roll beside the unathletic girl who was trying her best not to complain.

as sooyoung skipped to her right, she stepped on that very ball, making her surprised at the unexpected tread. she lost her balance and wrenched her ankle, causing her to yelp in pain.

the sound caught the attention of a certain lilac as he peeked at the commotion. wow, she's still bad at sports, was his initial thought.

"look out!"

wooyoung turned his head where he heard the alert, only to be greeted with dashing basketball hitting face hard.

"fucking hell." he glared at the person in front of him.

"is everything alright over there?" their instructor queried racket.

sooyoung attempted to stand which just made her hiss in more agony. "i think i sprained my ankle, sir."

"chae. go assist ms. im to the nurse's office." the teacher directed. "is everybody else okay?"

"jung wooyoung's bleeding!" somebody yelled, alarmed.

only then did wooyoung notice the metallic stench and red liquid dripping from his nose. he instinctively held a hand up face to stop the blood. "it's fine."

"jung, just get to the nurse. it's not the first time you don't attend my class, anyway."

the boy shrugged. "if you put it that way." he strolled leisurely, going outside the court.

"i'll help you up." minjee puts one of sooyoung's arm around her neck. "does it hurt?"

the limping girl inhaled sharply. "it stings."

"the nurse's office is just around the corner." her friend helped her walk to the said place.

once the girls arrived at the clinic, minjee immediately lets the injured one take a seat.

"oh, my. another one?" the nurse said with concern. "what happened?"

"i think i sprained my ankle." sooyoung explains to the lady who nodded in return.

the nurse faced the shorter girl. "dear, you better get back to class. i'll take care of them."

minjee bowed at the woman and bid sooyoung a goodbye.

"let's see. wooyoung, do you need help?"

"i got it, mrs. shin." the boy replied, while fiddling with the first aid kit.

the nurse nodded as she sat down infront of sooyoung to begin healing her foot. she took atleast an hour to finish the process of treating, from applying ice to wrapping an elastic bandage around her ankle.

"there we go." mrs. shin smiled warmly. "the ligament have only been slightly stretched, so it should heal in a few days or so. you can rest here, or would you like to catch your last class?"

sooyoung thought for a while. "is it okay if i return to class?"

"alright. just make sure to not apply too much pressure on your foot." instructed mrs. shin. "wait a bit, i'll help you."

the nurse started to clean up, putting away the things she used a while ago. she ended up noticing the lilac, who she thought already went back to class, dozing off. "jung wooyoung!"

the boy snapped his eyes open out of shock, only to close it again when he registered why he was getting yelled at. "mrs. shin, hush~"

"don't hush me! why are still you here?" she pulled him, resulting him to grumble.

"i lost too much blood and i felt light-headed." he dramatically held his temples, receiving a pull from the older woman.

"well, i'm guessing you rested enough." mrs. shin sarcastically claimed.

as they were bantering, a voice echoed through the office's speakers. "mrs. shin. we need you at the nursery. a kid is having an upset stomach, but refuses to move."

"oh, no." the nurse expressed with concern.

the nursery was on the opposite side of where sooyoung's classroom was, and the call sounded urgent. she glance at the boy, getting an idea.

"wooyoung, would you be a dear and help your classmate?" she requested, already gathering the stuff needed for a child's stomach ache.

it was sooyoung's turn to panic. "i'll just-"

"whatever." the lilac replied.

"thank you, wooyoung. here's the nurse's note for both of you." she handed both students a piece of paper that could explain why they were absent. "i'll get going now."

sooyoung wanted to crawl in a hole and hide. she darted her eyes everywhere just not to see the boy.

"i'll leave you here if you make me wait any longer." when she glanced at him, wooyoung was already crouching ahead of her.

"uh, uhm-" the girl doesn't know why she suddenly doesn't know how to speak.

the lilac turned around with an annoyed face. "do you wanna get to class or not?"

"yes." words, sooyoung. use your fucking words.

wooyoung exhaled in a tired manner. he bent down once again, assisting her to get on his back.

to the girl's surprise, he was actually pretty gentle when handling the situation. he whispered what she was supposed to do for her not to get hurt while moving, and as well as asking if it was okay for him to touch her in such a way.

atleast, he's still respectful. sooyoung thought as she held onto his shoulders.

"you good?" the boy asked the girl he was carrying.

"yeah." she answered as she rested her chin on his shoulder.

"we're almost there."

"you smell good." she mumbled. "what perfume do you wear?"

"i don't wear perfume." wooyoung chuckled at his girlfriend. "should i?"

"no!" sooyoung swayed her feet abruptly, almost making them fall. "i like how you smell. don't change it! that's an order."

"yes, ma'am." he laughed as he went inside the infirmary.

sooyoung doesn't know why his laugh made the sprain not as bad as it seemed.

***

the walk to their classroom was very awkward and suffocating for sooyoung.

did he hear it? is he making fun of me right now? why is he not saying anything? did hongjoong say anything to him?

wooyoung on the other hand, seemed rather calmed and relaxed while carrying her, which just added more to her confusion.

the moment they stepped foot in their classroom, startled stares immediately greeted them.

"you better have-" before the professor could complain about how late the two were, wooyoung places both nurse's notes on the teacher's table.

sooyoung unconsciously hid her face, feeling even more flustered at how confident the boy seemed having her on his back. he couldn't even face others two years ago.

he walked to the row where they belonged. maybe he isn't such a jerk?

just went the thought occurred to her, the lilac practically throws her off his back and onto her seat. i guess he still is.

"sooyoung! are you hurt? you could have texted me to come get you. i'm sorry-"

"minjee, slow down." sooyoung chuckles, reassuring her worried pal. "i'm fine. and i didn't have my phone."

"are you sure?" minjee went closer, lowering her voice. "you were stuck with jung wooyoung for an hour."

"the nurse was there." reminded sooyoung. "and he was just doing what the nurse told him to do."

her friend squinted her eyes, but seemed convinced in the end.
