Matthew 14:2

"And said to his servants, 'This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead, and therefore these powers are at work in him.'"

(Perhaps because he was so overridden with guilt for having John the Baptist killed, or because he couldn't accept Christ as being the Messiah, nonetheless he thought up his own meaning behind who Jesus was.)
