42- Coffee From A Bowl

The house was a complete mess. Therefore it wasn't long before they were all put to work cleaning it up.

"No one has lived here since my mother died." Sirius explained one afternoon as he and Venus were sat alone in the drawing room.

"What's that?" Venus had been looking at the large tapistry on the opposite wall.

"That's the Black family tree." Sirius said.

"They're all names of starts and planets." Venus observed as she looked at in greater detail.

Sirius nodded and smiled, "the only family tradition that I actually liked. You're named after my grandmother." He pointed to a burn on the tapistry. "My mother didn't like her, so she was my favorite."

"I can't see you." Venus frowned.

Sirius gestured at two other burn marks, "that's me, and that's you." He pointed, "you see the tapistry is magic. My mother couldn't stop it expanding to include you, but she could burn you out."

Venus cocked her head. Looking at her blackened burn mark.

"Lovley woman my mother," Sirius mused.

"I've gathered that from the painting." Venus nodded.

"She did that when I ran away." Sirius nodded at his burn mark.

"Where did you go?" Venus asked.

"I stayed with James." Sirius looked wistful, "I was always welcome at the Potter's."

"SIRIUS!" Molly's voice boombed through the corridor.

"I am being summoned." Sirius grinned. He and Venus made their way to the source of Molly's voice.

"What in Merlin's name is this?" Molly demanded.

Sirius scratched his head, "I believe that it is a dead ghoul."

"That is disgusting!" Venus held her hand over her noise to block out the smell of rotting ghoul.

"How didn't you spot this earlier?" Molly demanded.

"Well I didn't go in this room earlier!" Sirius said in an exasperated tone.

"Why ever not?" Molly's voice rose.

Sirius and Molly hadn't been getting along very well since the Weasleys had moved in to Grimmald Place.

It was quite a surprise to Venus. But Sirius had told her that Molly blamed him for Venus's lycanthropy.

Sirius confessed that he didn't blame Molly for this and that he also blamed himself for not being quick enough to save Venus.

Venus wasn't entirely sure how to respond to this, and matters were made even more awkward when Remus Lupin arrived at the house. Which left Venus stuck between her mother, Sirius and Remus. Who were all feeling guilty, despite the fact that she has assured them on numerous occasions that she was absolutely fine.

But most of the time she didn't have the headspace to worry about this. All of their time was taken up by trying to clean the house.

The adults weren't telling them anything, which annoyed all of the children so much that they were determined to listen in on the meetings of the Order.

Fred and George had been developing their joke shop ideas and had created 'Extendible ears'.

When Hermione arrived she suggested that they use the ears to listen in on the meetings.

"-we need to keep a guard on the weapon at all times-" Sirius was saying.

"What's the weapon?" Venus hissed.

"Shut up!" Fred and George told her.

"Yes." Remus Lupin said in a tired voice, "but I need to switch shifts with someone, I've been put on for a full moon night."

"I'll do it Remus." Mad Eyed Moody growled.

"Thank you."

"-I have managed to keep her name off of the register thus far." Dumbledore said. "But it is imperative that Venus keeps it a secret."

Everyone looked to Venus.

"Keeps what a secret?" Ron asked.

Venus, who was just as confused as the rest of them shrugged.

"With the ministry outright denying Voldemort's return it is only a matter of time before the ministry is infultrated. Therefore to keep her safe, we must keep her off of their radar!" Sirius added.

There were murmered agreements and the sound of footsteps.

"Reel them in!" George declared. They all quickly withdrew the extendable ears and turned away from the door.

Fred quickly drew a deck of cards and the group launched mid way into a game of Rummy.

"Hoestly you lot!" Mrs Weasley exclaimed, looking up at them, "can you not play that in your rooms?"

The last week of July was a full moon week, and also the second week of the Weasley's stay at Gimmauld Place.

And it just so happened to be the week that Venus suffered her worst symptoms yet, in the lead up to the full moon.

She was sick a few times a day and hardly slept.

Early one morning Venus found herself in the basement kitchen making herself a very large jug of coffee.

"You couldn't spare some for me could you?" Remus Lupin had arrived in the kitchen looking just as bad as Venus felt.

"I'll put another jug on." Venus poured the coffee into a large bowl and quickly put another jug on.

Venus grabbed a straw and began drinking her bowl of coffee.

Remus didn't bat an eyelid. He just slid into a chair beside her and put his head upon the table.

"Drink up Venus!" Molly bustled into the kitchen holding a goblet of Wolfsbane.

Venus set her bowl of coffee aside and took the goblet from her mother. She pinched her nose and drank the potion in one.

"Ek." Venus said when she set the goblet aside. "That stuff is disgusting."

She pulled her bowl of coffee back towards her and tried to wash the taste of Wolfsbane from her mouth.

"Venus must you really drink it like that?" Molly sighed.

"Mum I will drink my coffee in whatever way I see fit!" Venus replied quickly. Then she groaned and placed her head upon the table, mirroring Lupin.

The kettle dinged and Molly placed a boiling cup of coffee next to Remus.

"Thankyou Molly." Lupin sighed.

Molly left them alone in their misery as it was still very early in the morning.

It didn't take Venus long to finish her bowl and eventually both of them were sat with their heads against the table in silence.

"What's this?" Sirius's cheery voice entered the kitchen, "am I intruding on a Werewolf meeting?"

"Padfoot please talk quieter." Lupin suggested.

"C'mon Moony!" Sirius placed an arm around his friend, "cheer up."

"Dad if you don't shut up, I will shove my foot so far up your-"

"And that's enough to from you." Sirius patted his daughter's arm. "So are we all hanging out together tomorrow night?"

"Sirius!" Lupin sat up quickly, "Dumbledore said that you're not to leave the house!"

"Said house had an extremely secure cellar." Sirius retorted.

"Dad, we can't!" Venus told him. "That's way too near to everyone else! What if we got out? Even with Wolfsbane, what if we bit someone!"

Sirius looked at Remus for back up, but he just shook his head, "Sirius it is safer if we are all apart."

Sirius crossed his arms, "no."

"Dad, you can't just say no!" Venus shook her head, "it doesn't work like that!"

"I can be there for you so I will be!" He set his jaw. "Both of you will be in the cellar. I will lock us in there," he gestured towards the cellar door, "and I will then lock that door," he pointed at the kitchen door, "you will not get out." Broth Venus and Remus went to protest, but Sirius put his hands over their mouths, "no arguments!"

Guess who can't sleep so decided to post a chapter. Me!
