Chapter One
Another morning with their parents vanishing out the doors, as per usual. A reason was never given why these parents would leave so early, but most would assume work, right? Well, that may have only been partly true, it wasn't the entire truth.
And of course, the young Lou didn't know either, and would be far too young to understand.
Lou was a young child, only 4 years old, and was left home alone every day with nothing to do. Well...that wasn't exactly true.
There were multiple games the child could play on the computer or watch her favourite shows on Netflix. With them staying home so much, they've learned a lot of this on their own. ...Surprisingly, with multiple attempts of failing miserably and having to restart from the beginning again. Damn, don't you just hate that, especially if you're at the very end of a game and die just before it was over?
The young Lou didn't have any siblings and was the only child. They weren't enrolled in any local daycares or schools, having to learn everything from their own parents. Which, mind you, was jackshit. They weren't even home long enough to have a meal with their child nowadays. Like, at least get a babysitter (not a literal babysitter though, because I don't want any crushed babies).
Though, Lou decided to venture out of their main domain for a small while, walking out of the home and down the streets of the city. And surely, they were amazed.
The nice glows of lights flickering in the morning, the multiple cars passing by at rapid speeds, businesses doing their thing. There were even some events going on at that time as well. The outdoors looked really fun, causing Lou to never want to leave it. Although, they knew they must return home at some point.
However, this wouldn't be the last the child would leave on their own.
After the parents have left another morning, the child wanted to venture out once again like they had before. However, they wanted to explore new things, see what the world had in store for them.
Walking through various parks and viewing the pretty flowers planted there, seeing the children laugh and play. Mattering on the day, those children would be at school.
Though one time, it was a Sunday morning, and the parents had left again like usual. The young child wanted to venture outside once again, dressed up in a nice black and white outfit. And so, the child had, stepping proudly outside of their parents' estate.
This time, however, they had passed by a church. It seemed quite lively with people around it, with multiple kids and adults alike there. To see so many people at peace and wearing smiles on their faces peaked Lou's interest. If they were all so happy about something, shouldn't they check it out themselves? And so, that was exactly what they did.
Stepping into the unfamiliar building, they walked in slowly yet carefully, trying to get around the others. The child could barely see above them, only seeing most of their feet go into a big hall. Not knowing what to do, the child followed them unattended.
Lou awed at the white and pink room, looking back and forth to catch a full glance of the entire room. By how it was set up, it did look like something they had watched in a movie once, but to see it in person was much better. Though...they didn't look quite like this, as the colour scheme was completely different.
Lou decided to sit up at the front, sitting down comfortably on the uncomfortable seats provided, waiting for some sort of show to start. Maybe someone throwing on a concert or dancing up on stage. And well, this wasn't entirely wrong as a choir had soon began singing. The soft tunes rang through their ears, bringing a bright smile to the child's face.
If only the child could go up and sing along with the choir beside them, however, in movies they've watched, no one had disturbed it. No one around them was doing such thing either, so Lou stayed put in their seat. Swaying their head back and forth, allowing their short coal and amethyst hair sway along with them. Their blue eyes shut gently as the sweet melodies flew their way.
Unfortunately, the choir had soon ended, sitting back down, and leaving the room into a complete silence. However, that silence was soon broken with a sweet and smooth voice filled the room.
Lou halted their movements as they glanced over to the direction of the voice, only to see a woman in a nun-like outfit in front of the church.
This child had never seen a nun before in person, only seeing some in the odd movie they had watched. But this nun's outfit also looked a little different compared to the ones on television. Her outfit was magenta, pink, and purple, instead of the old black and white robes. In Lou's eyes, it was beautiful and unique.
Though, what also caught their eye was the different markings on the nun's face. It was the same colours as her outfit, which split her face into thirds. The child didn't know what it was, not even knowing it was really part of her face. The child quickly assumed it to be real, as if their dreams had come true.
During the time the nun spoke, the child couldn't understand half of what was being said. Didn't understand really anything, except only when the nun revealed her name. Which happened to be Sarvente. The child never heard a name like this before, and again, was quite found of it.
Also, while looking around their surroundings, the child noticed a male in grey attire, leaning against the left wall as if monitoring everyone around them. The child noticed him as well, not knowing who he was either, except that he had similar markings Sarvente had. Unfortunately, their name was unknown at the moment. The chances of the child remembering the nun's name after this was slim to none, so learning another may be too much of a hassle. Though, if Lou did come back again, maybe they would remember and learn it.
That's when an idea popped into their head. The thought of coming back here again tomorrow. Surely it would be open, right? Either way, the child had to try it out for themselves. And if it was closed, Lou could come back the next day, and the next one after that. Their parents were always away, so they could always check anyway.
The church service ended with some more choir, which Lou surely enjoyed. Swaying side to side just like before, ending off the church service on a good note. Did the child remember anything Sarvente had said? Nope, not a single thing. Not even the fact that they would meet again next Sunday. Welp, too bad for them. They'll figure it out eventually.
The guests filed out one by one, exiting the building with their families and loved ones. Smiles were planted on their faces; conversations being heard throughout the church. Whether they were about the plans for the day, about the church service that day, or something completely different. It brought a smile to Lou's face seeing how happy they were, or at least how happy they appeared to be. Seeing others happy was always what they loved to see, always a lighting a small spark inside them. Even if it wasn't because of them.
The child got off their seat, following the other people down the aisle to leave the church. However, Lou had stopped in their tracks, looking behind them to look back at the front of the church. Lou couldn't help but have the scenery catch their eye once again, taking a long look at the room. The room was soon almost empty, only the nun from before cleaning up her supplies for the day and themselves.
A bright smile was soon plastered on the child's face, soon muttering out the words, "I'll come back again." as they finally left the church.
