Footsteps...Footsteps

Eddie and Mary was walking along the streets, until the man stop moving.
She stop as well, wondering where they were...until the woman notice something.
The two were standing outside an apartment building as Mr Belvedere was sitting in one of the window above.

"Eddie?"

Causing the siblings turn around, to see Annie just got out of an parked car.
"Well, hey. Who. Hi, Annie..." Eddie stutter out, embarrassment himself right now.
So his sister decide to cut in and try to stop her brother, from embarrassing himself any further.
"Hello Annie" Mary greeted the woman.
"Uh, what are you doing here?" Annie asked, ignoring her and getting straight to the point.
"I was just walking by, and, uh...I saw Mr Belvedere. I felt concerned for his welfare, so..." Eddie said as the man tries to come up with an excuse before he stopped talking.
As Mary was giving her brother an look, knowing that it hasn't worked.
"Eddie..." Annie starts to say with a sigh before...door open...door close
At that moment, an man has gotten out of the car.
"Hey, is everything okay here?" he asked as the man was carrying groceries in his hand, making his way over to the three.

Making Annie put a smile on her face, "No. Everything fine" she assured him.
"Eddie, Mary. This is Dan. Dan, this is Eddie and Mary" the woman introduce each other.

"Yeah" "Hey" Hello"

"Annie's told me a lot about you" Dan stated, causing the other man to raised an eyebrow at that.
"Really?" Eddie asked as he look at Annie.
"Yeah" Dan replied.
"I'm a big fan of your work" he tells him.
"Thank you" said Eddie.
"It's pretty cool, all the people that he took down" said Dan, generously interest in what this man does.
"Yeah, I was one of them" Annie mutter under her breath, not happy that they were talking about Eddie former job.
Boasting about it and giving in to her former boyfriend ego.

"Well, look, I'll let you guys catch up" Dan said, bringing out of this uncomfortable silence.
"So I'll see you inside?" he said to the woman as he went and kiss Annie on the cheek.
Dan pats Eddie on the back, "Really nice meeting you, man" he tells him as he passes him.
"Eh, you, too" Eddie replied.

Keys jangle..Door Open

"He has a key. You know has a key?" Eddie points this out.

Door Close

"Yeah. How else would he get in?" Annie said back.

Chuckle

"Yeah. Well, uh..." Eddie started to say as the two were stood there in, awkwardly.
"So, uh, what you up to?" he asked, wanting to know how she been.
"You realize that's light-years away from being any of your business, right?" Annie retort back, that it wasn't any concern to him.
"Right. I'm going to go and give you some privates" said Mary before turning to her brother.
"I will wait for you till you finish your conversation" she tells him and said her goodbyes to the other woman before walking away.
"Hey, well, just asking, you know. So is Dan, uh, a lawyer?" Eddie questioned, getting back to the conversation at hand.
"No, he's a doctor" Annie informs him.
"Surgeon, actually" she stated, boasting about her boyfriend job to her ex.
"Oh" Eddie replied with a nod of his head.
"How's Mr Belvedore, anyway? I would say that he misses you, but that would be bullshit, 'cause...He's a cat" the man
"No, because he neved like you. No, he's a cat, and cats don't like anyone" he
"You look good, by the way" Eddie
"You doing good?" he
But Annie had enough of him beating around the bush.
"What are you doing here, Eddie?" Annie asked, firmly wanting to know this man real reason why was here.
"I'm here, 'caused I miss you" he confessed as the two adults look at each other.
"A lot" Eddie stated.
"You know, we were gonna get married. That wasn't so long ago, and now, you know...I can't really believe that we're not..." he ramble on in sadness, before the man stop talking.

Sigh

"Are we gonna try and find our way back?" Eddie asked, hoping that there was a little chance that they could make up.
But it wasn't meant to be, "No, we can't"
"You did this, Eddie. Not Carlton Drake, not the network. You" Annie tells him before she turns and walk away.
