VENGEANCE
( CHAPTER FOUR )

The city center was booming with a massive crowd of people. They were shouting jeers and insults at the top of their lungs, holding up signs and demanding justice as they stood in front of the city hall. It was obvious from the minute I stepped onto the scene what they were yelling for: justice for the bombings.

I swallowed back my fear, looking up at the twins with wide eyes. "This is a riot?" It seemed awful, filled with rage and terror. They wanted justice, but in a violent sense. According to the signs, they wanted to hurt Tony Stark and anyone close to him, just to feel better about losing their family.

Pietro nodded, a twisted grin on his face as he watched the people. "This is how we're going to get justice, Nas," he said, gesturing around. "We're going to kill the Avengers. An eye for an eye."

"But we don't have enough strength for that, Piet," Wanda interjected, frowning. "We're just children."

"We were just children when they killed our parents, too." He gazed down at her with a serious look on his face. "We'll find a way. I'm sure of it."

I looked around again, sucking in a deep breath that filled up my chest. Everyone seemed so angry. I was too, but I wasn't filled with as much anger as everyone else seemed to be. Pietro fit right in. I could almost see the anger bubbling in his veins. I let out the breath in a gush of air, biting my bottom lip as I considered joining them. Would rioting really solve all of our problems?

I watched as one man shoved through the crowd, attempting to stop the riot. However, he was simply met with violence, specifically a fist to the face. And then another. And another. Soon, the man was on the ground, his nose broken. I stared on in shock, surprised that such violence was in their hearts.

"C'mon." Pietro grabbed both of our hands, dragging us into the crowd. I struggled slightly, not really wanting to join the raging group, but his grip was too strong. It parted slightly to let us in, and we joined them. Pietro almost instantly started shouting things I couldn't hear, while Wanda and I looked around in wonder and interest.

A woman approached me, a glint in her eye. She shoved a sign into my hands, and I turned it over to read it: KILL TONY STARK. It seemed quite violent, but for some reason I was filled with joy at reading these words, and holding such a sign in my hands. I held it up quietly, not sure of what to shout, so I listened to everyone else.

I heard people shouting things like, "End the Avengers!" and, "We deserve justice!" I sucked in a deep breath, tuning into Pietro, who was shouting the former. He was always one for violence to solve problems. Wanda, on the other hand, was still looking around.

I handed her the sign with a gentle smile, and, after reading it, she looked up at me with wide eyes, as if asking if such a thing was okay. I nodded in answer to her silence question, and she let a smile cross her lips as she thrust the sign into the air. She began to shout, "Give us justice!"

I smiled. I was surging with rage and anger, but relief seeped into me from seeing the twins participating in this riot. For some reason, it pleased me to see them like this. I didn't understand why, but I was enjoying myself.

I sucked in a deep breath, before joining the loud shouts. People were beginning to get aggressive, jostling each other and grabbing fruits from the market stands around them. One woman began to hurl the apples in her hands toward the city hall in front of us (a small building that had maybe five workers on the inside), and others began to join in. I followed suit, leaning toward a stand to grab an orange before throwing it with all my might. Pleased, I watched as it went through a window.

No one from the city hall was coming out to stop us. My guess was that they were inside hiding, cowering, afraid for their lives. But at that moment, I didn't care. I just wanted justice for my family. For my parents. I was an orphan because of the government. They let this happen. They didn't stop Tony Stark from bombing our homes. This was all their fault.

We were going to achieve justice, and we were going to get it now.
