That was it. That was the last straw. I would not stand up to everyone yelling at me all of the time like I was some bad guy. I’m not.

Sure, in the past, I’ve done some bad things. Released the neighbor’s cows because they had ticked me off. Tripped the chief when he walked by. Accidently threw a tomato at the gathering of the tribe’s elders.

But I would never set the chief’s home on fire. That was serious. As bad as I’ve been, I would never do that. People could get seriously hurt.

But, no. I’d been blamed. I was sick of getting blamed for the stuff I didn’t do. I’d been blamed with many things that I’d been innocent of in the past week, and I was tired of it.

So I decided to run away.

I packed my rucksack with clothes and a few fruits and bolted out of my little hut. Most of the tribe was out hunting, and the rest didn’t think it was adnormal for a youth such as myself to be running through the tribe’s village.

But this time it was different than what they’d expect. This time, this youth was running from all of the tribe’s responsibilities. I was running to the city of Ateimdale to restart my life. In my tribe, I was mostly known as ‘troublesome’ and ‘not going to get anywhere in life’. I wanted to restart those stereotypes. So I was running away.

I didn’t know if I would see any of them again.

I set out through the bright woods, avoiding where my tribe was most likely to hunt. I dodged around the camp of the neighboring tribe.

It took most of the day to get to the outskirts of Ateimdale. The light of day was fading, and I didn’t figure I could buy an apartment in that time. So, I found a secluded alley with a pile of old, muddy tarps. I covered my rucksack up, and collapsed on the tarps, exhausted, and fell asleep
