PART THREE
When Nico woke up, the first thing he took note of was his killer headache.
The second thing was the naked body wrapped around his own.
“AaAhHHH!” He pushed away from whoever had his arms around him and fell off the bed. “What the actual fuck?”
Thirdly, he realized he was naked too.
Okay, so he'd had a couple one night stands but he alwys remembered if they'd happened. And how. And if it was consentual.
Three things happened the moment he stood to look for his clothes: his head started throbbing like crazy, the person who'd been sharing a bed with him woke up, grabbing on to his head and two other people woke up from a bed behind him. But they only groaned simultaneously and covered their heads with the comforter.
He turned, groaned from the pain coming from his head and scrambled for his clothes. He found them discarded by the door and threw them on like he hadn't seen clothes in centuries. He had no idea what he was doing naked with some person and with a headache and he needed to fucking leave.
“Nico?”
His head snapped towards he voice and the second his eyes connected with Will Solace's luminous blue ones, memories started flooding in.
Well shit.
“Oh my god.” Apparently, Will had a similar reaction. His eyes were as wide as tires and Nico was sure his expression mirrored his.
“We're married.” Nico simply stated. His gigantic headache had decided to take a step back while he sorted his memories through.
“W-we are.” Will looked away, his face was on fire and again, Nico knew his face looked exactly the same.
“I gotta go.” Nico turned toward the door again.
“Nico wait—holy mother of Jesus my ass!” Nico winced when he heard Will say that and he suddenly remembered the second part of the night before. That was the explanation for waking up naked.
“Sorry.” He rushed to say as he opened the door and left, trying not to make as much noise because of the headache that had returned at full force.
He was in serious need of some Advil. And a rewind button if it was possible.
He hurried out of the building, trying to remember where his friends were staying with no such luck. He took his phone out to call Reyna when it started ringing. Caller ID said it was his father. This couldn't get any worse. He thought about not answering but his dad usually didn't call him, when he did it was usually to check up on Hazel when Hazel didn't answer and if he didn't answer he'd call her again and Nico thought she might be sleeping and didn't want him to wake her so he pressed the answer button on the screen.
“Hades.” Yes, his dad had a weird name. His grandparents were weird. And because of the whole not getting along with him, he called him by his name on occasion.
“What is this? You're married?”
Nico stopped. No, no, no. How did he know? He'd wanted to get Reyna and or Jason and ask about divorce and all that and divorce Will before anyone else found out. “What?”
“Last night Nico. You sent me a photo and a text saying you'd gotten married.”
This definitely got worse. He didn't know what to say. His father already thought he was a disappointment, if he told him the truth about getting drunk and married, he'd stop even the calls to check up on Hazel. He didn't want him to think any less of him. “Yeah—yes. I got married.”
“I didn't know you we're seeing anyone.” Nico wasn't sure, but he thought his father's voice sounded weaker and a little gentler. He shook his head, it made his head throb doing that but there was just no way. He was imagining it. He was tired.
“It's not like you ever ask or check up on me.” There was ice in his tone but he didn't care. It was like he expected him to be all cuddly and ready to share everything. Like he expected Nico to act like a loving son when his father didn't care the least about him.
His father didn't answer and before he did, Nico spoke again. “Well I'm married and I've confirmed it for you so goodbye.” He hung up the phone before he bothered to say anything else. Nico didn't want to hear it.
He made the rest of his way home in angry silence. With himself. With his father. For letting himself get drunk enough to actually marry someone. For his father's absence and total lack of caring towards him.
What was he supposed to do now? Obviously Will would want to get divorced as soon as possible too. But his father now thought he was married. What was he supposed to tell Will? And how was he supposed to contact him again to tell him in the first place?
Nico kicked an old nearby bottle to try and rid of some of his frustration and took out his phone to check the time when he realized again that he had no idea where he was going. So he proceeded to open the phone app to call his best friend and saw he had about fifty missed calls from her and his sister and the same amount of text messages all asking where are you? one way or another.
He called Reyna. If she asked where'd he'd been, it'd be much more easier to say it first to her instead of his sister. She picked up on the first ring.
“Nico! Jesus fucking Christ! Where the fuck were you? Why are you only calling now? Do you have any fucking idea how worried we were?” Her shouting did not help with his headache.
“Rey...calm down! You're making my head pound.” He tried rubbing his temples to ease the pain.
Before she answered he heard Hazel's muffled voice in the background, “What is it? Is it my brother?”
Reyna completely ignored Hazel. “Don't you Rey me you bastard! And good! It better hurt!”
Nico sighed, “Can you just tell me where our hotel is so I can head over there?”
“Not before you tell me where the hell you've been!”
Nico cringed, he knew that was coming. He spoke fast trying to get it out as swiftly as he could. “IgotdrunkandmarriedWillSolacefromschoolandthenweslepttogether.”
Reyna, being Reyna, caught it all. “Holy crap. You get yourself over here right away. I need the full story.”
He waited for the address. She didn't give it, “Rey?”
“What?”
“I still need the address.”
“Right.”
