One year later...

Srilatha was committed to work with Vijay in his next film. Vijay became the indisputable star in the industry. Those actresses who refused to work with him came running behind him. Srilatha was one of them.

As her career was recently going downhill, Vijay accepted her as his heroine in his next movie.

Srilatha was getting ready in her makeup room and saw a glimpse of a familiar figure just outside her room. She stopped the artist who was working on her face and went out to confirm her doubts.

As she walked out, she found the person she was searching for. It was Vedha.

Iva enna pandra Inga??? Namma chance eh vaangiruvalo???

Srilatha went near Vedha and called her.

Vedha, who was talking to the director, Ram Bala, turned her attention towards Srilatha.

Vedha,"Srilatha dhaane??? Epdi irukkinga??? Paathe romba naal aachi..."

Srilatha looked at Vedha from top to bottom. Vedha seemed a bit plumpier but still looked beautiful.

Srilatha,"adhe naan dhaan unnai kekanum... Nee enna indha pakkam???"

Vedha smiled and answered,"naan Viji eh paaka vandhen"

Srilatha,"yean indha padathuleiyum heroine chance eh thattitu pogava?"

Vedha,"illa... Innum Konja naaluku naan nadikuradha illa..."

Srilatha was puzzled. Vedha said,"vaanga nadandhu kitte pesuvom"

Raja crossed them at that time. Vedha,"Anna, avar avar room le dhaane irukkar???"

Raja,"ama da... Tamizharasanum anga dhaan irukkan"

She smiled at him.

Srilatha,"ippo nee enga pore???"

Vedha,"avar room ku dhaan"

Srilatha,"ivlo patta pagal leiya??"

Vedha,"yean pona thappa??"

By that time, they reached his room and Vijay just noticed her saree and started talking,"Vedhavalli, indha time le nee saappadu eduthutu varanuma??? Indha kutty paiyan paaru... Adanga matran... Tamizharasa... Kanna... Appa ku shoot irukku da... Amma vandhuta paaru... Po"

Srilatha was shocked to see that scene. Vedha got the baby from him. Vijay asked her,"Srilatha saaptacha dhaane???"

Srilatha,"saaptachi Viji."

Vijay,"mannikanum... Arimuga padutha marandhuten. Idhu Vedhavalli Vijayakumar. En manaivi. Kai le irukradhu en paiyan Tamizharasan Vijayakumar."

Srilatha was feeling dizzy. Vijay continued,"indha padathule unga per heroine ku sonnadhum, Vedha ve dhaan ketten. Ava dhaan neenga nalla nadigai nu panna sonna. Adhu illama ungalale dhaane Ava enaku heroine ah nadicha... Adhanale enga veetu ammaku unga mela oru thani paasam."

He then turned towards Vedha,"Sari ma.. Paiyane thookitu bathrama po... Naan veetuku vandhuruven... Enakaga muzhichittu irukkadhe late aachi na... Naan kelamburen" he touched her head and left.

Srilatha said,"romba thappu panniten, Vedha. Mannichuru"

Vedha,"Ada enna neenga vera..."

Srilatha,"Illa. Appovum sari ippovum sari... naan unnai ozhungave purinjukale... sari sollu.. eppo kalyanam aachi???"

Vedha said coolly,"rendu varusham kitte aaga podhu."

They chatted for sometime and then she proceeded to go home.

After few more months, she resumed acting with him.

Some years later...

Vedha was serving him food as he returned from a late night shoot.

Vedha,"Naama Idhu varaikum sendhu 18 padam pannitom... Idhoda naan nadikradhe nippaatidalam nu nenaikrenga."

Vijay,"yean ma??? Indha pathirikai kaaranga pathi yosikiriya??? Illa tamizh kagava???"

Vedha,"Tamizh kaga dhaan... Apdiye avanoda thambiyo thangaiyo avangalkaga vum...."

Vijay,"utkaru utkaru... enna sonne???"

Vedha,"Innoru Kutty Viji yo Vedha vo vara poranga nu soldren."

He smiled at her and then pulled her onto his lap and hugged her.

Vijay,"idhanale dhaan pudhusa edhuvum sign panna viruppam illa nu sonniya?"

She nodded in response.

Vijay,"sari prachanai illa... Appo namma kalyanathe ellarkum sollidalam le???"

She again nodded. They had already delayed the news of their wedding. She believed it was time for them to open up.

They released their wedding pictures and Tamizh's tonsure ceremony pictures in newspapers. They had so many beautiful pictures over the years as family. People were really shocked and pleasantly surprised.

Their last film together was yet to be released. So the news of them being a married couple really boosted the business of their next film.

Vedha again gave birth to a son. They really became a small family of their own. Vedha was extremely happy to have her dream come true. Vijay also became a wonderful husband and father. When he left his village, he didn't even have money to support himself, but then he earned fame, money, family and more than anything he earned the love of the people.

Year 2023...

Vedha Vijay Residence...

Vedha woke her husband up in the morning,"ennanga... Ennanga.. ezhindhurunga... Ungale paakka katchi aalunga... Thondargal.. ministers ellam vandhurukanga... Raja annavum wait pandranga"

67 year old Vijay woke up and looked at his wife,"60 vayasu aana maariye illa Vedhu nee..."

"Aahaa... Kaalai leiye Vedhu va???"

"Nee ippadi kaalai le thalaiku kulichu pudavai ellam kattitu vandhu ninna manasu alai paayudhu le???"

She smiled at him,"pillai illadha veetule kizhavan thulli vilayadinanam. Unga kadhaiyum apdi dhaan irukku mama... Inniku Pongal... Ellam thayara iruku. Ezhindhurunga.

Pillaigalum, pera pillaigalum kulichu kelambi vandhuruvanga.. Ungale paaka Tamizhnaade kaathu irukku"

"Sari sari... Venneer ellam thayara, Vedhu?"

"Adhellam ready. Neenga kulichu kelambi makkale sandhichitu vandhinga na, veetule poojai pannitu apram maattukum poi poojai pannitu vandhuralam"

As she rushed him to get ready, he got up from the bed and went to take a bath.

After an hour, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, Ponmana Selvan, Mr.Vijay Kumar, met with the people and ministers at his home.

This was his consecutive win. He became the chief minister in his 60th age.  He was an active politician from his 40s. As he became the voice of the people, he was truly loved and elected as their chief minister when the time had ripened.

Vijay did face his share of struggles in politics. But the love he showed towards people, didn't leave him. They stood by his side and made him the chief minister in the subsequent election as well.

As he finished all the addressing and returned, they started their Pooja at home. Vijay still wanted to maintain his village life in the city. Vedha understood him so well and they had their own cowshed at the backyard. They also owned oxes for jallikattu.

Vedha looked at her man in white shirt and Veshti looked extremely handsome,"ennai soldringa??? Ungalku mattum enga vayasu aachi?? Apdiye dhaan irukkinga... Andha kannum... Gaandha kuralum nu...."

Tamizharasan,"unga kannuku appa eppo dhaan ma azhaga theriyale???"

Tamizhazhagan,"innikum aarambichitangala avanga love story eh???"

Tamizharasan responded,"aarambikama,..."

Tamizhazhagan, who looked exactly like his father, said,"Anna, appo ammavum appavum onna nadichangale andha padathe podunga... Amma overacting paaka comedy ah irukkum"

She playfully hit her second son,"ungalku ellam kalyanam aagi pondati pillainga nu aana apramum engale enna da kindal pandringa???"

Their family really grew to be a tree with their four grandchildren. There were times when she thought that she wouldn't have anyone in her life. Everything changed for good when she met Vijay.

Her life revolved around him. She became his heroine by chance. But she never looked back. From the day one, he was there for her as she stood by his side all his life.

He took care of every little details about her. Vijay was the one who helped her mother financially when she got sick and he also did her final rites when she eventually passed away. Her mother was never able to understand him.

But Vedha knew her Viji. He was the tree and she was his root. Their paths were filled with hurdles but they crossed them together. Life really became pleasant at the end.

*Author's note: This story was heavily inspired by the deceased, the Great Actor and Politician, Vijayakanth. I had been his fan for almost 10 years of my life. He had inspired me in many ways. When I first became his fan in 2010-ish, I wasn't able to know much about him. I researched so much of stuff, then I got to know how big of a star he was in 80s. That's when this prompt came in my head.

Recently when he passed away, I didn't have any way to vent my feelings and started working on the prompt which was in my head for a long time. This is truly an imaginary story of mine based on some of his life's important events. This is my tribute to my favourite Viji sir. Rest well in peace, Viji sir! You deserved better.
