Hug a Giant (canon)
< I'm sorry, we'll be late home
< There's cake in the fridge if you want to sneak some
November 26.
It was Seto's birthday, one of the good days where he didn't have to worry about his job or his adopted son, Gabriel, when he was obliged to have fun and take a break and receive gifts and love from his family and friends. Except...it had all gone wrong somewhere, the track had skewed and left him sitting cross-legged in the grass staring down at his flickering communicator.
We'll be late.
Jewel and Gabriel, his beloved family, were late home from an outing that they didn't have to go to in the first place. They had left him alone on his birthday of all days, alone to shiver in the brisk wind that whipped his long locks around his face with empty arms and an empty heart. He didn't want to act and think so selfishly, but the thoughts couldn't be helped and left him feeling bitter and cold inside.
"Why did you have to go?"
Shouldn't this be his night? A night where, for once, he could be the centre of attention and people might take their problems elsewhere instead of bringing them to him. Didn't he deserve an extra present, a special outing, or a badly worded poem or box of chocolates, or flowers, or-
What was that?
Seto stiffened up and closed his hands around the communicator, the holographic display shutting off as soon as one fingertip pressed against the switch. There was something against the back of his leg, a small but familiar weight he could distinctly feel through the denim of his jeans, and he twisted to look before it was brushed away like a wayward insect.
"Gabriel?"
"Happy birthday."
It was Gabriel, clothed in his pyjamas and dwarfed by the grass, minuscule hands gripping the thick fabric of his jeans while his full cheek was smushed into the giant's leg. He had a bow wrapped around him, too, one that was red and shiny and decorated with yellow polka dots. Seto shook his head and lowered his arm to scoop up the smaller figure in the tips of his fingers when he felt someone else hop deftly onto his wrist and wrap their arms the smallest way around his arm.
She wore a bow, too, but longer than human arms and legs told him that it was his one and only, Jewel. So much smaller than she should be, and happily craning her neck to look up to him with shining green eyes.
"Happy birthday, Seto."
Seto let out a hum, his whole body warming and coming to life at the sight of the two human-sized people, smiling as his occupied hand moved slowly to rest in his lap. They were here! He hadn't been left alone, and now he could hold them both close and show them his love. Slender fingers brushed fondly over the two forms that had buried themselves into his palm, feeling the small hugs given toward his fingers and only allowing his smile to grow, eyes never once leaving.
"Thank you for coming back, this is the greatest present I could imagine." Jewel took Gabriel into her arms and lay down, nestling into the curves of her giant's warm and cushiony palm as they rose to meet his face. "To have both of you close is all I ever wanted. My little gifts."
The javelinist batted away the fingertips that tugged at his ribbon, smirking up to the billboard face defiantly until they returned from all sides to begin tickling him incessantly, Jewel given the same playful treatment when she'd hoped to drop out.
"DAD! St-o-o-op!" Gabriel chuckled, attempting to grab his mother's wrist when he picked up a sudden blast of distress, only for the Anhemite to return to buzzing with joy and love. It was a blur of pale skin and deep blue sky, red polka dot ribbon and a giant's mouth smiling with true happiness. Their whole world only became more disorienting, pitching and rolling as Seto messed with them while standing to his full height, hopping around the yard, and dangling them before his face.
"Never, cap. You must submit to your mighty owner! Seto Yamazaki, never to be beaten."
"Fine, babe! But stop, I'm going to be sick." Jewel retorted, and almost instantly, the ride stopped and all she could see were her husband's lips curved into a smile. It was still overwhelming having him so towering and large when they should be the same size, but it was in that moment she remembered it wasn't all bad having the sorcerer so large.
"I'll go get dad's present if you wanna be alone."
"Ah- Gabriel!" Jewel shoved the boy from over her shoulder, leaving him sprawled and sniggering as he was plucked up by the back of his shirt, dangling for only a few seconds before his feet met grass and he sprinted away to leave his parents to be together.
"You better pick up your feet, I want my present." Seto taunted jokily, grinning as he turned back to the small alien seated in his palm and came closer to nuzzle his cheek into her, feeling Jewel hug him back. The tiny felt awkward showing her love at this size, too small to properly cup the giant's cheeks and hold his hand, but it didn't stop her from sidling over toward his mouth and leaning in at the corner. She felt the enormous man freeze when her lips met his, only for the briefest of moments until she pulled away, unable to help the blush as she tugged at her ribbon.
"I love you, Seto. We better get inside, it's getting cold."
Of course. As usual. Jewel still wasn't ready for the billboard face to move away from her, or for the lips she had just kissed to completely smother her whole upper body in their loving embrace, and so she only blushed a darker brown and kissed him back.
"Love you too. And I think I'm warm enough for you."
"/Dad!/"
"/Gabriel!/ Go back inside you couldn't have got my present that quickly!"
