(Before everyone knew Eren was a titan, but Eren knew how to control his power)

There was a titan in front of me, looking down with a smile. But I don't care anymore. Eren is gone, and he'll never come back. I try to launch my ODM gear. Nothing, I'm out of gas. It swipes, I dodge. It reaches for me, I cut its fingers off. Why am I still trying?
"MIKASA!! Get up here!"
I see Armin looking at me from the roof.
"MIKASA!"
The titan turns and looks at Armin, forgetting me. I take my chance. I stand up and sprint away, before I hear the worst sound in the history of humanity.
The sound of the ear splitting roar of a titan. I hear it walking, slow and methodical.
"Armin?"
I call, no response.
Then I hear a scream. It's Armin.
"No don't eat me don't...."
His voice fades. Armin's gone. And the titan that ate him is coming my way. I sprint off to the left, before I see it. A 15 metre tall titan, with black hair, green eyes and pointed ears. Looking straight at me. The other titan faces it, and stops.
Damn.

Mikasa!
MIKASA! She can't hear me. The other titan..... titan....
I'LL KILL YOU!!

The titan closest to me suddenly launches at the other and swings a punch, spraying blood all over the walls of the alley. It flies back and slides hundreds of metres on the cold stone floor. What just happened?
I look up and see the obviously Abnormal titan standing over me.
It seems familiar.
It's strangely silent. It runs to the limp form of the other titan and crushes it.
Over... and over... and over. Completely silent as it pounds its own kind to dust.
A titan is killing another titan.
It stops, and stands up, the sunlight hitting its angular face.

I stare down at the remains of the monster I killed.
I finished you.
I FINISHED YOU!!
And I will finish you all to save humanity.
Mikasa?
Where is she? Did I hurt her?
Armin?
I'll let him go when I don't need my hands any more.
I have to get Mikasa.

The Abnormal turns to me. Walks up to me. I start running.
It wasn't saving me, it was just making sure it had me all to myself.

Mikasa? I'm trying to save you.
Come back.

It roars quietly, as if it's pleading. That's not possible. I pause in confusion, and it notices. In a split second it runs up to me and grabs me. I can barely breathe. Its grip is as tight as iron and its height is astonishing. It brings me to it's face and seems to study me.
Those eyes.
So familiar.
It grunts softly before throwing me into its mouth.

Mikasa, Armin.
I'm so sorry, but I have to get you to HQ, and I need my hands.
Something shoots by, but not fast enough for me to miss his face . Its Connie. His eyes are wide and his blades are ready, so I harden the skin around my neck in case.
Oh no.
A bald titan a couple of metres away grabs Connie while he's distracted. His arms are pinned to his side.
"Let me go! Someone help!" he screams, but no one else is around.
I'm his only chance.

The bald titan has me, I'm going to die. Tears run down my face and I start to sob as the titan places my head in its mouth. I feel it close, but I'm not dead, but still somewhere I don't want to be.
In a titan.

The Abnormal opens its mouth and Connie flies in screaming. I see a glimpse of the outside world, before our window shuts. "Connie?"
"Armin, Mikasa. What are you doing here?"
"We don't know. I was captured on the roof and Mikasa was captured in an alley by this same Abnormal, but it's not eating us."
"I can hear it running, where is it going?" interrupts Mikasa, and I fall silent.

THUD THUD THUD
Rapid breathing.

"That's a good question." replies Connie, wiping titan saliva off his clothes.
"So have you tried getting out?"
"Yes, but he.. I mean it heals the cuts we make too quickly." I reply
"Well let's keep trying."

I feel them stabbing me. It hurts, but I can heal the wounds. I turn a corner and barrel down a few 5 metre tall titans, without breaking my stride. I see HQ, covered in Titans, but it's close.

I'm running across the rooftops with my squad. We need to get to HQ. I hear the footsteps of a running titan. "Be on your guard guys. I hear one. I'll check it out!" I yell to my squad, and they nod and speed ahead. I am all alone to check out the titan. I hear it breathing out of its nose, and it slowly jogs into view. I watch in run alongside me, paying no attention to me, eyes fixed on HQ. "You're quite a weird one aren't you." I mutter, before launching my gear and swinging off to find my squad.

TIME SKIP

"It's your job to deal with it anyway!" I yell, shaking the girl from the supply team. Suddenly, I am blown back.
A titan's face looms in a hole. Smiling. I stare in shock, frozen as people all around me run away.
"Where's Mikasa?"
"We're gonna die."
I am pushed and shoved but I remain motionless.
"This is normal. This must be what the real world is like. Was I trying to delude myself up until now? Surely I knew what the real world was like.

There are two titans. A hole in the wall.

Its so obvious when you think about it, there's no way we stand a chance against these monstrosities.

I swing.

I gasp, and the world seems to slow. A fist, moving, punching. Forcing them away.
"What?!"

They fly away from my punch.

Our world is rocked as the giant throws a punch. I hold on to Connie and Armin. I don't want to die.

I can see the sky through the hole, but it's soon blocked by another titan. This one has dark hair, green eyes, and pointed ears. It opens it's mouth and something slides out. No, more like someone.

I can

see the

sky again.

It turns towards me, and places its hand though the hole, placing the people on the floor of the room. It's Armin, Connie, and Mikasa. They are covered in saliva but seem to be alive. The titan still stands there, watching me.
It's eyes remind me of Eren.
But that's impossible.

The titan lets out a roar it's most likely been holding in for a while, if he was carrying three cadets in his mouth. I rush over to my three comrades.
"Let's go, there's work to be done."

TIME SKIP (brought to you by Sasha)

I walk out onto the roof and see a horrible sight. The Abnormal, my saviour, being eaten alive. It roars in pain, but still manages to regenerate the parts that have been damaged. Armin and the others come up next to me. "What are they doing?" asks Jean, horrified.

"Look, that's the Titan that killed Thomas."

I see the Abnormal's eyes swipe to the left, before he roars, throws off the titans, and charges at him, a bullet of fury. I hear Armin gasp, but I don't ask him why. The titan clamps his jaws around the other titan's neck and throws him at two others that were standing by. Everyone is silent. Titan steam rises up all around us, including from the Abnormal titan. He seems to notice us then.

Jean, Armin, Mikasa, all my friends, you're safe.

He takes a step towards us, and I hear the sound of blades being drawn.

I wont hurt you. I never will

He advances, and everyone else falls back, except me. He comes right up to the roof.

I will fight...

He looks at me with an unreadable expression. It moves his arms...

For humanity.

Into a perfect salute.

Then he falls.
