police said .. war .. jail

his life .. he knew drugs

mental escape from life's hells

overseas he did move

progressed from needles

stepped on dope .. up to pure horse

heroin .. his girl

when he wrote letters

one scribbled word to a page

addicted .. no doubt

dishonored .. homebound

tied him up to save his life

still itches .. that hit
