"No... no..."

My voice kept repeating the same word like a broken record, each with an identical volume and tone. It was all that I could do, really; I had frozen in place, staring at the lump of empty flesh that I once called my friend.

Kaede's corpse laid at my feet, a small smile still on her face. I remembered when she used to smile at me, and I felt an impending sense of despair fall over me. Not only had someone stripped her of her life in cold blood, but it was highly likely that I would be framed for her death.

My classmates all heard my chanting and entered, completely taken aback by the sight of the girl's body as well. After monokuma explained the rules of investigation, I felt the blame start to shift towards me. I scurried out of the room, not offering any defense for myself.

I took refuge in the corner of the hallway, distant from all of my classmates. At least, that was what I had assumed. I was wrong, to say the least: there were only a few minutes of solitude before I heard the sound of mechanical footsteps approaching towards me.

"Miss (Y/n).... are you alright?" A sympathetic voice asked. I looked up and saw Kiibo looking over me, his mechanical eyes completely devoid of emotion.

"No, I'm not," I stated bluntly, fighting back tears. "I don't know if you've heard the news..."

"What news?" He questioned me naively. "I heard Himiko talking about Kaede... is she alright? Maybe she's asleep?"

"Don't be so naive," I barked, which seemed to upset the robot. "...I'm sorry. I just... she is more than asleep, if you get what I'm saying."

"I don't..." he sighed, seemingly frustrated with himself. "I'm sorry."

"Don't apologize, Kiibo," I responded with a slight chuckle in my voice. "She's... d-dead."

"Oh no!" He cried in response, his eyes widening. "That is a tragedy! Shouldn't we start investigating? We don't have a moment to waste!"

"I'm not really up to it," I admitted. "Kaede and I were really close, and everyone already suspects me as is."

"Don't give up! You will only prove your guilt by not helping!" He ordered. "You and I will work together to prove your innocence!"

"You really think we can do it?"

He gave me a determined look. "I know we can! It's a promise!"
----

It's strange to think that he was able to keep his promise.

After everyone pointed fingers at me, we were able to prove my innocence in the trial. Afterwards, it became a matter of who did actually kill Kaede. It was no easy feat, but we were able to deduce her killer, watching their brutal and terrifying execution.

That night, I found myself sitting on the edge of my bed, eyes transfixed on an empty spot on the floor. I was lulled out of my daze when I heard a rather loud knock at my door. I opened the door, unsurprisingly finding Kiibo standing outside of it.

"Greetings!" He exclaimed cheerfully, his hands resting on his hips. "I have come to bring you emotional support!"

"Um... thanks?" I giggled, stepping out of the doorway. "You can come in, if you'd like."

He began to trudge in, the ground shaking slightly with each impending footstep. "Most appreciated!"

"Why did you come here? I don't really need emotional support," I sighed after shutting the door. The robot sat down on the sofa in the room, which surprisingly remained intact after being subjected to his heavy weight. Just how strong was that thing?

"A friend is always there to assist another," he stated vaguely. I shook my head and sat on the other end of the couch, still confused at his sudden appearance.

"You're right about that..." I agreed, not wanting to argue any further with him.

"Besides, you and Akamatsu were very close, weren't you?"

I wasn't sure what, why, or how, but something about his question set me off. Tears began to stream down my cheeks, every word that I would try to utter being deduced to mere whimpers.

"No... I'm so sorry!" Kiibo cried, his lips curling into a frown. He suddenly pulled a white cloth from who knows where, lightly dabbing it on my cheeks. My face flushed at his close proximity, though I remained perfectly still and my emotions remained unchanged.

"That is why I came..." the robot sighed, suddenly drawing nearer to me. "You need an emotional support."

"Kiibo..." I began to giggle again, my tears slowing. "It is just 'emotional support', not 'an emotional support'."

"I see..." he murmured, quickly shaking his head afterwards. "Well, no matter. We can spend the evening doing whatever you may like. Perhaps, watching a movie, or going to the library, or maybe going outside?"

I simply shook my head. "There's no need for all of that," I insisted. "I just want to stay here with you, Kiibo."

"Ah... you are so sudden!" The robot cried, his silvery cheeks turning a rosy pink. "But.. would you perhaps want to engage in this 'cuddling' humans reference so frequently?"

"Please," I begged. "Though, only if you are ok with it."

"I am most alright," he smiled as he drew even closer to me. I felt him wrap his metal hand around my wrist, gently pulling me towards him. Despite being inhuman, he was still oddly warm. I found myself spread across his lap, his strong arms wrapped around me.

"I will protect you..." he murmured as I nuzzled in closer towards him. "I do not wish to see a human as upset as you were in that hallway... especially if you are that human."

"You're too sweet," I whispered calmly, the only emotion I felt being bliss. Before I knew it, I was falling asleep. Before I could completely drift off, I heard him speak up one more time.

"I will make sure you never feel alone again."
