Daithi De Nogla
Short, but a little sad.
3rd Person POV
They were sitting there, watching a scary movie for the Halloween specials coming on. David was smiling at his girlfriend, happy she took the time to spend with him.
"Isn't this better than what you do all day?" He smiled
She stayed quiet and looked at the floor, she knew what he meant by that. She was ashamed, it was her fault for accepting that first taste, now she's destroying her lungs.
"You know it's addicting. I can't stop.." She mumbled, but still loud enough for him to hear.
"You can try.." He frowned, "for me?" He said and paused the movie. "Why can't you?"
"You don't know. You never know. We always have this fights and you always say I have to quit and I'm trying, and I'm trying as hard as I fucking can!" She stands up with tears and puffy eyes. "It's easier said than done, David!" She moved her hair out of her face.
"Why can't you just, give it a chance?" He asked. She shook her head.
"I need a smoke." She walked outside and sat on the steps. She pulled out a box and a thin white strip. She puts it in between her lips and lights the addiction. Smoke comes out of her mouth and floats in the air. Her boyfriend comes out and leans on the door frame, pissed off.
"(Y/N)." Her name slipped through his lips like soap in water. "Stop."
"Fuck off." She snapped as she took another smoke of the addicting tobacco.
"I'm leaving you because you smoke." He said and hoped in his car. She threw the cigarette down and didn't even crush it.
"I'll stop! I'll change!" She yells at the man backing out of the drive way.
"Then find me when you do." He said and drove off. Since he left, which was approximately 5 months ago, she's been depressed but has stopped. She's been thinking about taking it all away but she thought of how nice it would be to hug David and how proud he would be. She hoped in her car and drove over a bridge that was actually right next to his house. She sighed and walked to the door, and surprisingly when she knocked it opened. Once she opened, her eyes tested up and depression pulled her down again. There was David, pressing his lips to another girl.
"David?" She asked, broken heart obvious in her voice.
"(Y/N).., you're here..?" He asked, scared that she was suddenly there.
"Alive. And I quit. Guess it was for nothing." She left, slamming the door behind her. She ran to the bridge and stood on the edge, watching the water behind her. She took the notebook out of her coat and wrote a note to the man who she knew was to find it. She set the paper down, stood up again, took out a cigarette and smoked a bit before she threw it down and jumped in the river after the cigarette. Killing her self on impact...and that was it. The man came running, looking for the girl but all he found was notebook with her beat and beautiful handwriting he'll miss so much. It read:
David,
You told me you were leaving because I smoked cigarettes, I stopped smoking in fear of losing you forever.
I went by your to tell you that I broke my bad habit. I saw you pressing your lips against someone new.
My walk home was lonely and the only thing pressed to my lips was a cigarette. I guess it's time to quit my bad habit.
You.
