It had been a long hard few months of non-stop work, but spring break was finally here, meaning we could all relax. Cilan insisted on giving up his time to test our racing track, s we left him to it and headed to Serena's house.

On the way we bumped into Gary and Co.

"Fancy seeing you, where you guys off?" Gary asked me and drew as we walked by"

"Just to Serena's" I replied "See you later!" We headed up the road and walked past my house and to Serena's.

"You sure they are not working?" Drew asked as I knocked on the door.

"It'll be fine, if they are then we see what they're making" We stood on the steps, hearing a faint 'I'm coming' before Serena opened the door.

"We are doing super serious work here, Ash!" I think my eardrums burst.

"Oh, erm- well-" I was nervous and embarrassed but she cut me off.

"Only kidding" She gave us a dazzling smile "Come in, we have almost finished the cake"

"Cake?" An exciting gleam shone through my eyes.

Serena giggled "You and food Ash Ketchum"

Drew laughed as we stepped inside "Cilan won't be coming by the way, he wanted to test the--erm...project" A wave of relief washed over me. He almost gave it away. We didn't want the project to be given away but instead, like every project anyone would do for the fair, we hid it away so no one can copy us.

"Just means you get more cake" Serena shrugged and skipped into the kitchen.

"Sweet" I said with pure joy. Drew just laughed at me. I was quite hectic with food at times and I had no idea why it made him laugh.

She came back in and was followed in by Dawn and May.

"Iris is finishing it" She and the girls sat down "You guys ready for the science fair then?"

"Actually we finished about an hour ago. Cilan is paranoid and isn't sure it will work, so he is testing it all day" Drew pulled a disagreeing face.

"It will be fine, I don't know why he is so worked up. Even when I touched it he went crazy" I rubbed the back of my head, remembering how mad he got.

"He wants to win, clearly" May said after some thought.

"We are confident, but we don't want to sit around testing our work" Added Dawn.

I agreed and it seemed Drew did, why would anyone want to after all the work we had done anyway?

"Well we have a few weeks before then, so lets hope it all goes well" Serena made me smile at her positivity.

"Right now, we have cake to enjoy" Iris came in with a giant sponge cake, with cream on top.

Everyone was wowing and gasping while I thought about the size of my piece.

"I was thinking" Iris said partway through eating "That we should go to the beach. I know it's always full of the 12th grade students, but they will be gone for spring break, right?"

"Yeah lets do it. Right Ash?" Serena looked at me with almost puppy like eyes. I let out a nervous laugh.

"Alright" I said, bringing an excited giggle from Serena. She must love the beach. Learn something new everyday I suppose.

"I'll get the others to come, but when?" Drew looked up from his phone.

"Saturday?" Iris wondered, looking round as everyone nodded. Looks like we are going to the beach on Saturday.

"Ok, got it" Drew said, going back to his phone.

I looked at Serena again and smiled. She smiled back her brightest smile that I loved too much. Then I started daydreaming. About the science fair. Everything was pretty much riding on Cilan for me and Drew to get good grades, but I was confident that we could win.

Then I thought about this saturday. A sunny day on the beach with my friends, relaxing and taking time off school. Serena in a bikini...

"Ash?" I was stopped by Serena, who was clicking her fingers in my face.

"Huh? Erm....yes?" I asked, confused.

"What're you thinking about?" She bounced on the sofa and sat next to me.

"Oh, right. Nothing. Just the science fair and this saturday" I scratched my cheek and looked in the opposite direction a moment.

"It's almost like you're hiding something Ash Ketchum. What is ittt?" She held her 't' in her singing voice.

"Me? Hide something?" I felt like it was strange thinking about her half naked "You got me all wrong, Serena Yvonne"

"I have got you all figured out, Ash, it's ok" She winked and headed into the kitchen.

I felt like she was acting different, like she was hiding something. I just stared into space with my mouth half open and blinked at the wall.

Drew patted me on the back "Don't worry, bud. I'll be enjoying the view just as much as you"

I turned my head and looked at Drew with a death stare "That better be directed at someone else"

He looked defensively back at me "Of course" He clearly lied, so I punched him in the arm.

"Ow! Man that's going to bruise!" He yelled, while holding his arm.

"Try not to enjoy it too much alright pal?" I smiled to myself and leaned into the sofa "Drew?"

"Yeah?" He replied, looking at me questionably.

"Life is great right now, don't you think?" I asked him.

"Give me a million dollars and I'll say yes" We shared a laugh before he relaxed aswell "If I had a girlfriend like yours, then yes. She is so positive and casual about everything. Don't screw it up this time Ash, she is a keeper"

I took in his words and just nodded. I felt a pressure on me to keep Serena happy and I was determined to try harder. So much was going on our lives, but we still had the whole future ahead of us.
