Chapter 19 - An advocate for surprise (Ash)

-
Yet again I just want to say I am absolutely loving all of this support. I didn't expect so many reads or even votes. It did take a few days until this kind of support was noticeable but I want to say thanks again.

I sometimes feel like I should sit down and write up every last chapter just for to say thanks (Wish I had the time)

Have an awesome day and enjoy this chapter

It was a little over 5pm when Cilan showed up. We ducked under a shelter and sat on one of the benches, out of the rain that now continued to shower down across town. It was the day after everyone hung out, without me and Serena.

"This is about the discussion we had yesterday" Cilan sounded like he was concealing himself, like a spy.

"I'm guessing I shouldn't know this stuff? Right?" Cilan nodded, rainwater flew in all directions of his bouncy green hair.

He told me what everyone thought, without sparing any details and we sat in silence for 5 minutes as I thought through what he said.

"Seems like Calem still wants some sort of personal vendetta" I sighed. I wasn't up for anything with him. I still have Josh to take care of.

"Also, a break? We don't need a break" I felt like putting my head through the glass pane, hoping to wake up from this dream. Misty speaks so much nonsense.

"I think you should surprise her. To dinner. Something romantic and more" He searched for the word and snapped his fingers "mature?"

I contemplated his idea "Sounds like a plan. Then, I can talk to her about this and we can discuss it ourselves and come up with a solution or our own idea" Cilan sucked in a breath between his teeth.

"You shouldn't mention this to her. You know how Serena acts when people gossip about her" Cilan spoke only the truth in these circumstances.

"I'll have to deal with the paranoia, it's all party of being her boyfriend" I flashed a smirk and Cilan patted me on the back.

"Go get em' hotshot" He said, standing up "Well, I have a date with my bedroom and a plate of pizza rolls, so see you later, Ash!" Cilan waved as he walked and I shouted through the ear shattering rain.

"See you, Cilan!" I turned and walked in the opposite direction. Just then, the thunder echoed through the night sky and the rain picked up immensely in speed.

I began to sprint home to get out of the rain when there was also a flash of lightning. I opened my door and jumped inside. Instantly, I headed upstairs and got a towel, drying my hair and then changing into my pyjamas. I headed downstairs and sat in the kitchen, where my Mom was busy baking.

I sniffled, my nose becoming slightly runny.

"Seems like you're getting a cold, Ash" My Mom pointed this out.

"I am fine" I said in denial, as I sneezed into my hand. Snot covered my hand and I grabbed a paper towel in disgust, cleaning it up.

"Go get an early night to warm up" My Mom suggested "It is a sunday tomorrow so you can have a lie in"

I smiled "Ok, goodnight mom"

I went online and booked a table for two at our local restaurant for sunday, then sent a text to Serena.

'Hey, fancy going out tomorrow?'

She replied after a few minutes

'Sure, where to?'

'It's a surprise. Just be ready by 5 and I'll come to yours'

'Oh okay'

'Anyway, I am feeling a little under the weather so I am going to sleep. Ily Serena'

'You too Ash'

I put my phone down and collapsed onto my bed.

Now to wait for 5pm.

-

It was bright and sunny when I woke up at 1pm. It was nice to have a lie in and I felt much better already.

I got changed and brushed my teeth, before pulling up my phone. No messages besides one from Drew about basketball. I decided to give up basketball to spend time with Serena so he always filled me in with the latest results.

I spent a few hours messing around, before going to Serena's. I had put on the t-shirt she gave me, with our favourite picture of us on it.

I knocked on her door and she walked out, a little confused. She linked arms with me and we walked down the road.

"Where are we going?" She asked.

I smiled in reply "Somewhere nice for dinner"

We reached the restaurant and she was surprised to be here.

"This place is so expensive. Can you afford it?" I nodded.

"I got enough, so get whatever you like. Tonight is for you.

We sat down and got our meals. Somewhere in the middle I began to change the subject.

"So, on friday, the rest of the gang got together and discussed our relationship" She looked up in interest as I told her everything Cilan told me.

"They seem to think we need to come up with some sort of plan to 'fix' this" I said. Serena looked crushed by her friends words.

"We don't need to fix anything. We love eachother and it will stay that way" She said my thoughts exactly.

"So, scrapping their ideas. Why don't we go on holiday, together, in the summer? We wont need our parents there. A weekend of just us"

Serena contemplated my idea and then nodded. Excitement flashed in her eyes like an explosion.

"Yes! That would be amazing" She finished her meal and looked at me with a bright smile. A beautiful smile.

"Your smile is so mesmerizing" I said dreamily.

Serena blushed "Oh, Ash, stop it" She giggled as I payed and we then headed home.

"I'll get this holiday sorted. Somewhere nice and sunny"

"Great, this will be so much fun!" She made it sound like we was going tomorrow.

I laughed and held her hand tightly as we headed home.

Nothing was going to seperate us anymore.
