I spent the whole next day with Sarah and I felt 5 years younger, bringing back memories of our first date. We walked along the park at the end of the day and I sat down for a drink. Suddenly, Sarah was leaning in for a kiss and I jumped off the bench in total surprise.

"What're you doing?!" I almost shouted at her, but kept calm.

"I thought we had something special" She said, looking just as surprised.

"HAD, I am with Serena now and I love her, you think I can just come straight back to you?" I was still in shock and felt a slight bit of rage.

"No.. I am sorry, Ash. I let my feelings get the better of me" She held her arms out for a hug. I sighed and hugged her.

"Friends?" I said into her ear and she nodded.

"I can live with that" She sounded unconvincing.

I didn't want her and Serena fighting. It was like Pallet Town was on one side and Vaniville the other. Would I have to choose where I am going? Would someone make me choose? I looked down at the watch Serena had given me. I should've just gone to the movies, I thought as I walked home.

The next day came and went, with it being a school day. No one found out about Sarah's move on me so I forgot about it. After a week of nothing, Sarah asked me to meet her.

"Sorry I am late, Sarah. Serena gets a little worked up when I tell her I am coming to see you" I scratched my head and sat down.

"She doesn't need to know. A little overprotective" Sarah made it sound like a competition and I hated my thoughts for a moment. Was Serena actually jealous?

"She seems a bit jealous that we are friends"

"Really? She doesn't seem very nice from the way she acts. How do you handle it?" I thought about Sarah's words for a moment.

"She has never done this before" I shrugged and took a sip of my soda can.

"Guess she can't handle you making friends" I felt confused around her.

"What can't you handle though?" I said in a protective way. She knew what I meant.

"I could barely handle seeing you after 2 years. You have changed so much, Ash. I hardly know you now"

"That's why we are here. To catch up" I was right, she centered the whole conversation around Serena, time to change the subject.

I talked to Sarah about how much has changed and all of the new things I have been up to, even about being assaulted and hospitalised in the process. I felt like eyes had been watching me the whole time. Cilan was too easy to read, so I turned around. Cilan was stood with a big grin on his face. He hopped between us and sighed in relaxation.

"Afternoon Ash, other chick" He seemed surprised "where's Serena?" I pointed towards home and he nodded.

"Cilan this is Sarah, Sarah, this is Cilan"

"It is a pleasure to be acquainted with you" Cilan held out his hand.

Sarah stood up and let off a small wave.

"I have to go Ash, see you around!" She sounded frustrated and Cilan looked pleased with himself.

"Why is Serena doing this?" I asked, but Cilan looked like I was stupid.

"Doing what?" His acting was horrible.

"Pack it in, Cilan. Does she not trust me enough to have a new friend?"

"Obviously not. After all you dated her for three years and she tried to kiss you last week"

I turned and looked shocked at Cilan. "Come off it, Ash, I can see it on your face. She is nothing but trouble, you know" Cilan always made a fair point but I shook my head.

"She is a good friend and I wont let Serena do this. If she can't trust me, how can I ever trust her?" I referred to the summer without saying anything.

"Ash, listen. When you find yourself doing things with Sarah you shouldn't do, think about Serena. Tell her everything from now on and she will trust you, alot" Cilan smiled and I did too.

"You're right, thanks Cilan" I began to head home and my thoughts was surrounded with a love triangle. I was at the right angle, unprepared to take a sharp turn in life.

I made sure Sarah knew that no means no for the next few weeks. Our friendship grew stronger until Cilan's advice made me do the worst thing of my life.
