Chapter 3 - Gym Class

(Ash)

Walking to gym class, I saw Kenny.

"Hey, Kenny! I heard you got a car recently" I walked up as he turned around. He had a little grin on his face and he nodded.

"Uh-huh" Was all he said back.

"So, you got gym class too?" I asked, standing by his locker.

"I do. I guess you do as well then?"

"Yeah, it's gonna suck" I moaned. We headed into the changing rooms and got changed. Gary and Cilan where also in our gym class, which I guess was a good thing because we needed some other friends in our gym class in order to survive the year.

"Glad you guys are in here" Gary laughed, scratching his head.

"We can say the same" I laughed in return, a little smirk on my face. I think we got some looks from the other guys. They must've thought we was a bunch of weirdos.

"I hope we play dodgeball or something" Gary said excitedly. He rubbed his hands together and had a dumb grin on his face.

"How come?" Cilan asked.

"Because then we get to check out the girls, duh. I will probably pick up three or four today" Gary kept the dumb grin on his face. Kenny and Cilan done the biggest sweatdrop of the year.

"Yeah, uh.. that's definitely going to happen" Kenny said sarcastically. I burst out laughing, Gary was such an idiot.

"Of course it is!" Gary poked himself with his thumb "I am the best looking guy in this room"

"Well... we can see your ego has expanded over the summer" Cilan joined in the laughter.

"My what has what?" Gary looked even stupider right now.

"Nothing, Gary" I shook my head and wiped the tears forming on my eyelids.

"Come on you guys, we better go" Cilan gestured for us to go out and we headed to the gym hall. Our teacher was already there, but it was a new teacher. Heh.

"Sit down!" Our new teacher boomed. This teacher looked about the size of a house and his voice was really low pitched "You are late!"

We rushed into the gym and sat down quickly. His stature was kind of scary. This year was going to be worse then ever.

"OK! I expect each and every one of you to perform to the highest level. Mistakes are not something I enjoy seeing and anyone making any mistakes will stay behind after school in order to rectify their mistakes" He shouted out louder than a megaphone. Great so he is super strict too.

"To warm up, drop down and give me 30 press ups!" Everyone looked confused as he shouted "GIVE ME THIRTY PRESS UPS" He repeated louder than he had just spoke.

We all slowly began to do press ups. Everyone began talking amongst themselves.

"Who hired the armies drill sergeant as our gym teacher?" I asked Kenny as we continued to do press ups.

"God knows. The principal must be a maniac" Kenny seemed just as confused and annoyed as me. No one asked to sign up for the marine corps.

Suddenly, a shadow was cast over us as the new gym teacher stepped over our bodies.

"DID I SAY YOU COULD SIT AROUND AND CHAT?" He boomed once again, anger in his eyes. He was surely crazy.

"No-no.." I said slowly, feeling a little intimidated. It's not everyday a battle hardened 250 pound man steps over you and asks a question.

"No, what?" He cocked his head to the side, a slight frown forming on his lips.

"No...sir?" I asked, wondering if that is what he wanted.

"That's just fine" He suddenly spoke calmly and smiled. His change in personality sent shivers down my spine.

We spent the next hour doing constant fitness courses around the gym. Eventually, class was dismissed. We saw the rest of the group by their lockers in the main corridor. We slowly dragged ourselves over. My hair was damp from the sweat and I looked like a total mess.

"Looks like the new teacher put you through your paces" Calem let out a laugh and folded his arms.

"Wait. You have had him before?" I asked Calem, speaking a little slower due to being so tired.

"Uh-huh. He wasn't too bad" Calem smiled, he was being serious. I felt like passing out on the spot after he said that.

"Yeah, he was amazing" Cilan spoke in the most sarcastic tone, but of course only Gary didn't realise.

"What? He was horrible!" He instantly complained, throwing his arms out like some sort of little kid.

"Stop being so dense man. It's called sarcasm" Cilan shook his head and sighed, but Gary looked like a bus load of knowledge had smacked him straight in the face.

"Sarca-what?" Gary scratched his head.

"Nothing, Gary. Nothing" Cilan literally facepalmed, bringing a little laughter from Drew and Kenny.

"Ok, children, lets go grab some lunch" Iris folded her arms and raised an eyebrow at us.

"Right, sorry MOM" Calem said with absolute sarcasm.

"So, is sarcasm like, the running theme today with you guys?" May asked as we slowly headed to the cafeteria.

"Sure" I replied nonchalantly, shrugging.

"I don't like the way you guys are talking to us, to I need to beat some sense into someone?" Misty cracked her knuckles. God, she could be violent if she wanted to.

"Oh, erm no thanks" Calem backed off, with his hands up. Everyone looked worried, but I just looked at them all.

"You guys are pretty pathetic" I laughed. They all frowned in unison.

"Does someone need a lesson in being nice?" Misty was suddenly whispering in my ear, her breath touching my neck. Her voice sent shivers down my spine, so I jumped away and turned around.

"N-no thanks!" I sweatdropped, bringing laughter from the others.

"Guess that makes two of us, hmm Ash?" Cilan slapped me on the back as we walked on.

"Yeah, yeah" I shoved my hands in my pockets and rushed ahead. Serena was talking to Dawn so I poke my head in the middle.

"Whatcha doing?" I smiled as I kept my head level with theirs.

"We was having a little private talk, Ash" Dawn pouted and looked away. Did I do something wrong?

"Sorry about her, it's just girl talk" Serena explained. I nodded and mouthed 'okay' before backing away next to Cilan.

"What was that about" He asked me. I instantly shrugged.

"God knows" We entered the cafeteria and grabbed lunch, before sitting down in our usual spot. We sat around a big table and talked amongst ourselves. I caught words from each conversation, but I was listening in on Gary and Calem.

"Soccer is way better than baseball" Gary was saying to Calem, who looked like he disagreed.

"Nah, man. Baseball rules" That seemed to be the basis of Calem's argument.

"Ok then. On Saturday we will play a soccer match and then on Sunday we shall play baseball" Gary suggested. Calem gave a nod and then Gary looked around at everyone.

"Are we all free saturday and sunday?" He asked, interrupting every conversation. Everyone else nodded and so did I. It looked like we all had weekend plans now.

If you haven't guessed by now, most of this story is Ash. Serena will get parts here and there to convey her feelings and also other stuff when they are not in the same places etc.

Oh and #PerfectYear
