Chapter 16 - Suspension
Been working on a few things recently, like a new book and also my other book, so I apologize for not updating in 2 days. I would like to try and update this book as much as possible because it is coming to a close soon and I want to start on a new Pokemon book I have been thinking about.
I was reading something before and it prompted this question: How do you guys think the Team Flare Arc will play out? In my opinion, I simply think that it is going to fall back on the Mega Evolution Acts and go straight into some mega evolved action. Alain could also potentially be on both sides in one way or another, due to the fact he used to be Prof. Sycamore's assistant before he decided to go on his own journey. There was also things from Sycamore suggesting Team Flare wanted his data, so he could be a direct link into this story and I think it will start with Alain getting involved with the Mega Sceptile on the poster, which could be Sawyer's, then everything will go straight to Sycamore and his lab and from there we will have the gang trying to stop Team Flare and their devious plan involving Zygarde. Nothing has really been announced to suggest anything so I think the Team Flare arc will happen later on, maybe after Ash's eighth gym badge, meaning his team will be pretty strong.
Anyway, enough rambling, lets enjoy the chapter!

(Ash)
"WHAT?!" My Mom screamed down the phone, her voice ringing in my ears. I moved the phone away for a second and waited for my ear to stop ringing, before putting the phone back.
"Yeah, I got into a fight and as soon as the principal heard about it I was given a two week suspension" I rubbed the back of my head nervously, waiting for a response.
My Mom gave a little sigh. "For those two weeks I expect plenty of studying from you, Ash Ketchum" She sounded angry and disappointed, I didn't know what to say.
"Y-Yes I..Pro-promise" I gulped in fear, My Mom sounded so scary right now I wanted to hang up.
"I don't want to hear about fighting from you again, do you hear me?!" She shouted once more.
"Yes Mom" I spoke quietly, feeling slightly ashamed. I hung up the phone and threw it into my pocket, before letting out a huge sigh. I headed over to the gate to explain the situation to Gary and Calem.
"Two weeks suspension?" Gary asked to confirm what I had just explained. I nodded and then he scratched his chin in thought. "What about Kevin?"
"I think he got a week or something like that, but of course, I done the most damage so I get the bigger punishment" I tried not moaning, but the words came out like I was moaning.
"That's bullshit" Calem frowned and then put his hand on my shoulder "This won't affect your school work, right?"
I turned and smiled at Calem. He was being supportive about my goal to pass alongside Serena and move on with her to the same college in order to keep our relationship going, because of the risks of long distance relationships.
"I hope not, I just promised my Mom I would study for the two weeks, she practically grounded me" I put my hands in my pockets and stopped at the edge of the pavement, waiting to cross the road.
"Well, me and Gary are going to the store, so we will see you around" Calem explained, waving goodbye.
"See you guys" I shouted, before crossing the road. I headed home, crossing my fingers and hoping to not be lectured. As soon as I walked through the door, I remembered my Mom was at work. Relief washed over me and I broke into a smile, instantaneously jumping onto the sofa and turning on the TV. I had a few hours before my Mom would be home, so it was easier to stay downstairs and be ready for her lecture or extra punishment.
She arrived home a few hours later and I didn't even realize until she was breathing down my neck.
"I think we need to have a little talk Ash" She said into my ear. I gulped and followed her into the kitchen.
"Before you lecture me, can I tell the story please?" I begged her, in an attempt to get out of as much trouble as possible.
"Go on then, please tell me" She began making some coffee and turned her back to me.
"Where to begin..." I thought of a possible starting point and then explained the story to her from the beginning, leaving out no details. I felt angry just thinking about the story and after I had finished I realized I had unconsciously clenched my fists. I released my grip and scratched my head, giving a nervous laugh. My Mom sipped on the coffee she had just made while contemplating my story.
"Was violence the correct answer?" She said with a raised eyebrow. It was a rhetorical question, as I already knew what the answer was.
"If I wasn't so angry, I am sure it could have been resolve in a different way, so I apologize" I frowned at myself in disappointment. My Mum propped up my chin and smiled.
"Don't be so down Ash, it isn't all your fault. I am sure Kevin is receiving a punishment as we speak for making the first move"
Oh yeah, he did make the first move, just as I had planned. I don't know how I got a longer punishment, but rules are rules. I smiled slightly at my Mom, feeling a little glad she was going light on me.
"Now, for your punishment.." She began, making my face drop. I felt like collapsing there and then.
"Great" I mumbled under my breath, my expression changing to a frown again.
"Take out the trash?" My Mom asked, surprising me. Punishment? I do that everyday anyway.
"Sure!" I almost shouted, feeling glad I got let off so easily. I grabbed the trash bags and hauled them over my shoulder, before running outside and taking them out. As soon as I came back in, she was back to making dinner like nothing had happened.
"Can you give me a hand tonight, Ash?" She asked me, for the first time in forever. I never had to help her usually.
"Sure, I suppose so" I shrugged, taking off my jacket and placing it on the chair I usually sit on, before placing my cap on the corner of the chair. I began to help out, doing minor jobs and preparing food for our dinner. It wasn't hard work but it took patient and a lot of time. We sat down as it cooked in the oven, but it wasn't too long before the oven dinged and the meal was ready. As soon as it was set on the table, I dug in like a rocket, ploughing through my dinner. I may or may not have bad eating habits.
"You need to slow down sometimes dear, you worry me with those bad habits" My Mom began her paranoia. I just shrugged and put my jacket and cap back on.
"I will be alright, I haven't choke on anything in forever" I pointed out to her. She shrugged back with that 'I suppose so' look and then smiled.
"Going somewhere?" She noticed me throwing my shoes on and I nodded as I tied the laces.
"Serena's. I haven't told her what has happened yet" I explained, grasping the door handle.
"Ok, don't be too long" My Mom shouted. I didn't reply but instead continued outside, closing the door behind me. I headed over to Serena's house a few doors down and knocked on the door. Of course, Grace answered it.
"Hmm, Ash?" She asked, indicating she wanted to know why I was there because it was getting a little late.
"I need to speak with Serena" I explained why I was here and she sidestepped, gesturing for me to come in. "Thanks" I shut the door behind me and ran upstairs to Serena's room. I noticed the door was closed and slowly opened it.
"Ash!" Serena shouted, throwing the towel on the floor back up onto her body. I looked away and shook the thoughts out of my head.
"S-s-sorry, S-Serena" I was a little embarrassed and felt my cheeks warming up.
"Atleast knock first, you doofus" I guess Serena began to get changed so I waited for her outside. She eventually came out, still frowning.
"Sorry" I said weakly.
"It's alright dumby. You are my boyfriend after all, so there isn't anything to worry about" She winked and then walked back into her room. I followed her in and we sat at the foot of the bed.
"I only came to tell you what happened with the principal" I still felt a little awkward, speaking quietly.
"Oh yeah, you went to the principal" Serena remembered, looking slightly worried. "So, what happened?"
"I got two weeks suspension. I have to catch up on all of the work after those two weeks, otherwise I will be in several detentions" I felt annoyed just saying my punishment out loud, how was Serena going to react? I felt her hand on my arm as she slowly dropped her head on my shoulder. I could just make out a smile on her face.
"Don't worry, Ash" She said "I will help you out with school while you are suspended, ok?"
"Yeah, thanks Serena" I smiled, wrapping my arm around her head and placing it on her shoulder.
"It kind of sucks that you won't be in for two weeks" Serena's face became a frown once more, something that made her look really scary to me. "What about Kevin?"
"He got a week, mainly due to the fact that I hit him seven or eight times more" I replayed the fight in my head, which made me really angry again. "I could do another round right now, it still frustrates me too much"
"Making Kevin a punching bag won't relieve your stress, try going on a run or listening to some relaxing music" Serena moved her head off my shoulder and got up.
"I know, I am just an idiot, remember?" I followed her up and looked into her eyes, those beautiful eyes.
"Don't forget whose idiot you are though" Serena teased, before planting a kiss on my lips. It was a quick one second moment, but I felt like it was going to last forever. I gave her a dumb smile and then headed to the door.
"I better get going, my Mom told me not to be long. She has been kind of on and off about the whole situation" I remembered the phone call and put a hand over my ear. Her shouting was something else, that's for sure.
"I'll see you after school ok?" Serena said, following me down the stairs.
"Sure thing, I'll make sure to see you. After all, I have time on my hands now" I laughed, stepping outside.
"Yeah, yeah. Don't get into trouble while your suspended" I wasn't sure if Serena was referring to my chances of going to the same college, so I just waved her response off.
"I won't so don't worry" I turned away and headed home "See you tomorrow!" I shouted, heading down the street. I heard Serena shout goodbye back, but it sounded a little faint. I heard her door close and continued to walk down the street, getting to my house.
"Time for bed.." I sighed, heading back inside. It was now time for a long two weeks, two weeks of peace or two weeks of hell? I still wasn't sure.
