Diary Entry 3
Man I haven't entered anything in my diary for a month now. It is currently the 10th of October, a sunday. Let me recap what has happened recently. Homework, homework, homework and homework.
On a serious note, I haven't seen those senior bullies at all and my teeth are back to normal, thank god. I lookes like an idiot with a gap in my teeth. I am excited for halloween, after all it is my first time in Vaniville, so I wonder if the others are doing anything for it. Speaking of the others Dawn asked me out last week, I politely declined since it is too early for any dates. I don't see Dawn as my type anyway. None of them are my type... there is only one that I, in truth like. Serena is a girl I can't keep my eyes off of, but I am good at hiding my feelings and it's difficult to get through my secrets. Serena told me Dawn does this to everyone she meets so I thought nothing of the whole situation. I went round to Serena's last week and met her mom Grace. She is very nice and allowed us all to go into her house to hang out.

I lost my train of thought and stopped writing after hearing a knock on the door. I stretched up onto my feet, my body aching having just woken up. I rushed into my clothes and opened the door. The house was empty because my mom had gone to work while I was in bed. I swung the door open to be greeted by Serena and Calem.

"Hey Ash, we was all meeting at the park today and, well, since no one has your phone number still we came to get you" Serena smiled and I was dazed by her looks for a moment.

Calem was waiting at the gate, looking at me "Come on Ash, lets go" He turned on his heels and began walking down the street.

I nodded to serena and closed my door, before locking it and catching up. I followed behind Serena, who was walking beside Calem. I always wondered if anything would become of them to, they seem close all the time and he always walks her to the bus stop. He was the one that retaliated to the bullies remarks, so he must care for Serena.

We arrived at the park and everyone was there, on the swings talking or playing basketball in the court that was fenced off. After saying hi to everyone, Calem took me to the court to play. Basketball was a sport that I didn't enjoy too much but it was something I would play.

"Hey Ash, you can be on my team with Kenny" I turned to Drew and nodded, before taking off my jacket. Did I mention I went to the gym last weekend? The results of a few hours workout had paid off. After all, I want to get tougher incase those bullies return.

"Okay so Calem is with me and Cilan" Said Gary, who was holding the ball. Clemont stood on the side to keep scores.

After about 30 minutes of non stop basketball we sat against the fence and took sips of our drinks. The score so far was a ridiculous 100-89, with Gary's team in the lead.

"2nd half in 5 minutes, anyone?" Asked Gary, who already looked ready to go again. Everyone nodded in agreement and sat down in the corner.

Cilan, who was the least sporty out of the 6 of us playing, took his drink and downed it in seconds "I needed that, nothing like working up a thirst playing basketball. I am ready for a 2nd half!" Everyone shared jokes for 5 minutes before continuing with the game.

(Other side of the park - Serena)

We was getting bored on the swings and decided to watch the guys finish there game of basketball. We sat on the benches facing the court from the right hand side, and watched while having random conversations. The conversation led to the same old, with Dawn asking the questions.

"Anyone here that you like, Serena?" Dawn asked and it was the first time she singled me out in forever. I shrugged off her question and thought for a moment. Ash was someone that I like, but it was a weird way because after the past month I am still not sure how I feel exactly. I understand Calem likes me but it is the same with him.

"I don't know I couldn't give an answer" I turned to the game to watch Cilan, who was now 6ft, easily place the basketball into the basket and score two points. Ash, Drew and Kenny looked like they was trying very hard and sweat dripped from there now floppy and wet hair. Ash took the ball and ran through the middle with speed, he was a very fast runner and also, using his agility could turn fast and pass the ball with ease. He gave it to Drew, who used his jumping skills to throw in a 3 pointer.

After some time they're game ended 120-118, a 2 point gap giving Gary's team the win.

"You wont win next time!" Said Ash, clenching his fist with determination.

"We will see about that Ketchum" Gary grinned at Ash and Ash returned a little smirk. I stared for a moment before looking around the park. It was getting noticeably dark, so I suggested we go home.

"Sure, I have homework to do so i'll catch you guys later!" Gary waved goodbye and headed in the opposite direction to everyone. He lived by the school after all and was always first there. Once everyone had gone home, I stopped by Ash's house with him. We stood in silence for a moment and it felt like a repeat of the last time we walked home, except he has a tooth in place. I smiled politely at Ash, who stared blankly at me.

Serena couldn't look better if she tried and her smile blinded me. I stood there for a moment, which made the situation awkward. I nervously began twiddling my thumbs and broke the silence.

"Well- uh- I guess I will, erm, see you in school?" I tried my best to return a smile, but a more nervous expression came over my face.

Serena kept on smiling, and started playing with her hair slightly. Her hair was amazing and it paralyzed me once more. "Sure, see you tomorrow!" She waved as she walked off, and I waited until she stepped inside before doing the same. I spent the last few hours of the evening eating my dinner and checking my homework, before falling asleep in my bed.

I woke up to the sound of my mum leaving again, and buried my head into my pillow. Why do I oversleep constantly? I walked downstairs in my pyjamas to find a note on the fridge.

Ash,

There is some sausage cooked for you in the oven and some extra money. Make sure to catch the bus and enjoy school

I put the note in the bin and grabbed the oven door, pulling it open and making myself a sandwich. I got changes shortly after and grabbed my bag, before heading to the bus station. Going on the bus means I will be 10 minutes earlier than if I started walking. As I got there I saw Drew, Calem, Dawn and Serena. They all smiled when they saw me.

"Hey Ash, getting the bus today?" Drew asked giving me the usual handshake. I nodded and leaned against the lampost.

"Yeah, I overslept so I got some extra money to catch the bus" I scratched my head and looked around, seeing Serena looking at me from the corner of my eye. When she saw me notice she looked away and talked to Dawn. Weird. I shook of the thought and focused on Drew, who was chuckling.

"High school in Vaniville is different to Junior High, we have a free bus now" He gave me a pat on the back and smiled slightly. I felt like such an idiot, atleast now I have some extra money for lunch.

"Oh, looks like I will be using the bus more often then, huh" I awkward laughed and scratched my head, just as the bus arrived.

We got into school and headed to our math class. Math was as boring as ever and I would rather watch paint dry, which was good because we had art for the second hour, so i could do just that. We entered the art room and Ms. Juniper asked that we be silent.

"Today class, we will be starting our halloween posters. You will be assigned a partner from the table you are sat on and have until next friday to plan, draw and colour your poster. Be as creative as possible and use this hour to gather up ideas. You may now carry on" Ms. Juniper swiveled on her chair and began typing away on her computer. Clemont and I looked at each other but May had other ideas.

"How about I go with Clemont and Serena goes with Ash, considering you boys and your art skills, it would benefit us all if we got good grades on this" it made sense really. Serena and May were very talented, so if me and Clemont both had a good partner, we would all get atleast a B. I nodded in agreement and scratched my chin. It also meant I would be alone with Serena in my house or hers, assuming her mom works. Well, wont this be an awkward situation. I turned to Serena who looked kind of nervous, did she not like me? Am I that bad of a partner? All these negative thoughts were ruining my train of thought and I realised May and Clemont had already started with their plan.

"So, uh, Serena. Lets get planning?" I asked this as a question so I could seecher reaction, but she looked up and smiled, then nodded at me before grabbing some paper and writing ideas on it.

The day went fast and it wasn't long before I was standing outside my house with Serena.

"Shall I come inside, Ash? We can work on the poster today and finish it quick so we don't do it on the weekend" it seemed like a logical plan, but I still thought of it negatively. Did she just want to get out of this project as soon as possible? I nodded, why did I nod? I could have just said I can't do it today. I guess it's too late.

We stepped inside and laid everything on my living room table. I felt really nervous having serena sat right next to me, because I was way out of her league. We worked on the poster for some time before I nervously reached over to get the orange. Once i had my hand over it, Serena's hand landed on mine. I looked up at her and she smiled nervously. We just held hands for a second because we went for the same color. I looked really awkward for a moment before looking away and coloring. We worked in silence for an hour before Serena broke it.

"So Ash, do you like anyone? I mean like, LIKE" she looked at me, her head to one side. Everytime she done that it made her look even better. I wanted her to ask questions all day.

I shrugged, trying to keep my cool. "Erm, I don't know, really" I kind of gave a nervous laugh, because ironically the answer was asking me the question.

Serena moved her head back up and smiled. "Oh, okay, guess I am the same really" I couldn't quite tell if she wanted a different answer.

"Do you want something to drink Serena?" I asked, keeping the conversation going.

She pushed her hair out of her eyes slightly, before nodding "Can I get some water please?"

I walked into the kitchen, grabbed a glass and poured some water into it. I walked back in to see Serena on her phone, texting. It reminded that I still don't have any phone numbers, so I pulled out my phone.

"I still don't have anyones number Serena, you want to be the first?" I put my phone by the water and without saying anything she entered her contact details into my phone and handed to me. I smiled and stared into her blue eyes, more beautiful than the ocean. I stared awkwardly before I heard someone clap.

"Hello, Ash? Wakey wakey" Serena was clapping in my face. Did she notice I was staring? I wasn't to sure so I hoped not.

"Sorry about that I was just thinking about y- I mean daydreaming" I nervously laughed and stood up. "I think you should go now, before it gets too late. We can finish the poster another day.

Serena looked at me confused, what was she thinking?

(Serena)

Ash was telling me to leave, already? I felt upset for some reason. Did he like me? Did he not want me here? I instantly stood up and faked a smile. "Okay then, I guess, bye Ash" I left through the open door and closed it behind myself. I felt like crying but there was no reason to cry. Then it hit me.

I have feelings for Ash. Feelings I haven't felt in a while. Oh god I can't get him out of my head.

I went straight into my room and jumped onto my bed. God I am such an idiot. Frustration overcame me and sent my fist into the wall. It hurt like hell but I didn't care. Why do things have this be so complicated. The only way I could feel comfortable around Serena is if we were to date, which is impossible. I guess you can call it partner problems.
