Gary and Calem instantly stepped beside Ash, and they had eyes that could kill. It was for protection of course, as this bully was one they all knew to well. Jack by name, if he disliked someone, he took it upon himself to make their life hell and unfortunately Ash was his target. Jack and his friends took a step forward and Ash got up to his feet. Before anyone could blink, bags had been dropped and they were all nose to nose. Of course, with the three year age difference Gary, Calem and Ash had no chance of fighting them but Gary was to over confident. Serena took it upon herself to step in the middle and try and break it up. After all, everyone else just stared.

Jack sneered at Ash "Got bring your girlfriend in to save you, huh?" He grinned and began to walk away. Ash seemed a bit embarassed. He liked Serena and felt different around her, so it wasn't a surprise that he backed off a bit. Serena began slightly red from blushing, she seemed a bit embarrassed by his remark too.

"I'll get you next time, new kid!" Jack walked of, closely followed by his friends.

"Glad thats over, are you okay Ash?" Serena turned to ash and looked a bit worried. He had a rough impact from the push and had a few cuts just under his right elbow, but no blood.

Ash nodded and smiled politely "I am fine, thanks Serena" he nervously scratched the back of his head and the rest of the girls joined the group.

Before long, school was over and the second day ended as the first day did.

"WHY MUST WE GET SO MUCH HOMEWORK!" Gary moaned at the top of his face, turning to everyone and walking backwards down the footpath out of the school. As he turned the corner, he walked straight into someone.

Jack stood with a huge grin and grabbed Gary by his shirt. "Watch where you are going, kid" Jack looked angrily around and noticed Ash at the front, only a few inches infront of him.

Gary, in all of his stupidness, reacted with anger. "Do you mind not spitting on me you big blubbering whale!" Gary released himself from Jack, but Jack was provoked by these words and he lunged at Gary. Gary used his height to his advantage by moving out of the way. Before one of Jack's friends could jump in, Calem and Ash stepped infront of Gary.

"Outta the way new kid, or are we going to have to settle this like men?" Jack was in a stance where he could pounce at any time, he was ready for a fight.

"Guys please just stop-" Serena was cut off suddenly by another voice.

"Shut up bitch, no one wants to listen to you" Jack stared at Serena after saying this, like he was going to kill someone.

This remark sent Calem flying at Jack and a brawl broke out between the two, shouting and punching, shirt pulling and kicking. After about ten seconds of fighting, Jack got fed up and cracked his fist across Calem's jaw. The force of the punch sent Calem on the floor, and everyone stared for a moment. Calem instantly got back up and began hammering his fists down onto Jack, forcing Jack to put his hands over his head. Even for his age and strength advantage, the speed of calems punches became too much for Jack, and one of his friends interfered by tackling Calem, followed by Gary who began to pull the other guy off of Calem. The second friend of Jacks stared down at Ash. Ash didn't look the least bit scared, as the second friend sent his fist to ash's face. Within moments Ash had ducked and gone round the second friend, before kicking the back of his leg, right at the knee. These kicks cause anyone to fall to there knee's under the pressure and the second friend howled in pain. Due to it being for self defence purposes, Ash did not retaliate any further. A mistake on his part as Jack came back out of no where, sending a flying fist into Ash's cheekbone. Although nothing broke, a tooth popped onto the floor and ash flopped onto his side. Jack got his friends and ran away. There was no real 'winner' but everyone knew there would be a next time. Calem angrily got up and brushed down his clothes. He had a cut on his jaw that was slowly bleeding. May pulled out a handkerchief and dabbed the blood off of Calems face. They all stood there for a moment, before helping Ash to his feet and walking on again.

"Yo, Ash are you all right?" Gary looked over at Ash and saw him rubbing his cheek. A large bruise had formed across his cheek, where the punch landed.

"I am fine, lets just get home" Ash put his hand down and forgot about the pain. At the back of the group, Serena looked worried. For who she was worried for was unclear, as she looked at all three of the boys. Gary was lucky to come out of the fight untouched, but Calem and Ash both got hit hard. Ash seemed a bit wobbly on his feet, as he was dizzy from the punch he recieved just two minutes earlier. Everyone was silent throughout the journey home, despite the goodbyes as people went to their houses. By the end it was just Ash and Serena. Once Ash got to his house, Serena stopped.

"Are you sure you're okay, Ash?" Serena had a worried expression on her face, you could see she cared alot, as a friend? Perhaps even more.

"I am fine, Serena. Thanks for asking" Ash paused for a moment and the silence got a bit awkward for them both. "So I will see you tomorrow, I guess" Ash scratched his head nervously, you could see clearly how he felt around Serena. He was nervous when it came to girls and he thought she was beautiful.

Serena smiled, encourage by his words "Good, I will see you tomorrow" she waved as she walked only four doors down and entered her house. Ash walked into his house, glad that his mom was at work so she wouldn't worry. He got an ice pack and placed it on his cheek, before going to his room to do his homework for the next day.
