Chapter 9 - Dreams Do Come True

1 Month Before The Reunion...

(Serena)

I looked down at Ash in the bed. He was sleeping soundly, which was no surprise considering he was studying all night, which made a change from his usual ways. I swung open the curtains, revealing the sunlight that was hiding behind them and opened the window slightly. This made Ash roll over, so the sun wasn't in his eyes.

"Wake up, lazy" I picked up my pillow and threw it at him. He shrugged it onto the floor and groaned.

"I'm tired, I think I'll sleep in today" Ash began to fall asleep again, but I wasn't going to let him.

"Guess you'll have to skip breakfast then" I shrugged, stepping into the kitchen.

Going to the same college took a load of effort. Ash only just managed to make it and so did our relationship. The bumpy rides we had led us to this moment and we was almost going to finish our first year in college. Times have been tough since money is a real problem. Kenny actually gave Ash enough money to buy one of the apartments within the college, not just rent it, we actually own it now. Ash refused his money for almost a week before giving in and then we all parted ways, ready for a new adventure.

"I can't miss breakfast!" Ash was up in an instant, jumping past me and into the fridge. "Damn, we have no OJ left"

"Looks like you will have to go to the store now, too" I patted his shoulder with a grin. "Chop chop"

"Why can't you go? I'll make breakfast" Ash suggested, with a hint of hope in his eyes.

"No, silly. You want the juice, so you have to get the juice" I shook my head and started preparing breakfast, ignoring Ash, who was mumbling under his breath in annoyance.

"Fine" Ash sighed, heading back into the bedroom to get changed.

"I am guessing you want pancakes?" I shouted into the bedroom.

"You know me too well" Ash replied. Well duh.

I started on our breakfast while Ash headed out. I liked how we were living, the set up was nice. We both done everything as equals, whether it was cleaning, shopping or cooking. The only thing that was missing for me was a complete family. But we didn't have time to consider that, we had dreams to follow.

Ash came back in no time, which made me wonder why he moaned anyway. I had breakfast ready so we sat down and ate.

"Stupid test today" Ash moaned. I raised my eyebrow.

"I don't think it is stupid, just do your best like you always do. You got a high score on the practice one and you have been studying loads, you'll nail it" I encouraged him with a smile.

"Thanks for the encouragement" Ash smiled back. "You're not in today, right?"

"Nope, I will be doing some other things today" I shook my head and ate some more of my pancake.

"Well I better head off now, I'll be back later" Ash got up from the table and grabbed his bag.

"See ya later" I got up and kissed him on the cheek before he could head off.

Ash grinned like an idiot and headed out once more

I spent most of the day doing the cleaning, watching TV and just general things. Mondays didn't give me much variety to work with, especially since I had the whole day off from going on the campus.

I was about to go outside when I suddenly got a phone call. The vibration in my pocket instantly caught my attention, so I picked it up and answered the call, seeing the callers name was Dawn, which was surprising.

"Dawn?" I asked before they could say anything.

"Long time no speak, how are ya?" Dawn replied back and I couldn't help but feel excited. We hadn't spoken to each other in a while and it was a very unexpected call.

"I'm great, how are you and the others?" I asked. For some strange reason, Dawn didn't reply for a moment. I thought I had lost my signal when she finally replied.

"Misty and May are fine and I am doing great!"

"Have you not seen anyone else recently?" my question was given more silence.

"Nope, not yet. I know that Kenny and Drew are busy with work and Iris and Cilan apparently got into the same college, but that's all I know about everyone so far" Dawn's reply didn't sound like the whole truth, so I started to investigate.

"It doesn't sound like you are telling the whole truth" I pushed for more, but Dawn was good at dodging the bullet.

"I didn't call to tell you how we are doing," she said, making me reconsider my investigation.

"Fair enough, what do you need then?" I asked, waiting for the question. Dawn was obviously talking to someone else at the same time.

"We was just debating about whether or not we should meet up with everyone else and I wanted some different input" Dawn's reply finally came once more.

"Go for it" I instantly decided. "If you want, we can come too and-"

"It's fine" Dawn cut me off, for some weird reason. "You guys are busy enough as it is, don't let us force you anywhere"

"But you guys are our friends" I frowned at nothing, imagining Dawn was in front of me. She knew me well so she could tell how I felt.

"It's fine" she repeated, before leaving a mysterious message. "I am sure we will see each other again soon, have a nice day"

"Oh, bye then," I said before she hung up. "Weird"

I told Ash that night about the little conversation and he too had to think about what Dawn had said.

"It seems like she was calling for a reason she couldn't give" Ash scratched his chin in thought. "Well, it doesn't really matter. We have other things to focus on like she said"

"That's true. She did say we will all meet up again in due time so I guess we have to wait" I sat down at the table next to Ash.

"There is nothing stopping us from going down there in the next week, you know" Ash looked at me with seriousness in his eyes.

"I mean, sure. But I don't know if they would be ready for that" I wondered if Dawn had an encrypted message behind her words.

"Anyway, we should focus on what we are going to do tomorrow since we both have some free time in the afternoon" Ash got up from his seat and opened the fridge.

"Well, I wanted to see a new movie" I suggested, already knowing that Ash would say yes no matter what.

"A movie it is" he instantly said with a smile.

"I love you, Ash" I smiled back with excitement.

"I already know that" Ash drank some more orange juice.

"Aren't you going to say it back?" I frowned, grabbing his orange juice before he could drink anymore and took a sip for myself.

He took it back off me and grinned. "I don't need to say something if you already know it"

"I suppose so" I shrugged, yawning a little. "I think it's time for bed"

"You just want to sleep early so you can watch this movie, right?" Ash put the carton away and turned to me.

"Yep!" I replied instantly, jumping into the bedroom.

"I swear you can turn into a little kid sometimes" Ash shook his head, following me into the room.

"You're no different with movies" I put a hand on my hips and raised an eyebrow at Ash, who scratched the back of his head and laughed.

"Guess it's true" he laughed nervously.

After that, we both decided to sleep. Ash wasn't tired, but it wasn't like there were loads to do alone on campus or in the apartment. We hadn't really tried to make a load of friends, but we had some. they were usually busy doing other things with other groups, so it made for a tricky friendship, unlike our original friends, who were always there no matter what.

Dawn's phone call repeated in my head and I smiled.

I knew for sure that we was going to meet again.

It was only a matter of time.
