*Kamal Pov*

"I can't believe that he was in danger of dying today morning. As per your phone call yesterday, he was fine." I said sipping my coffee.

"That's what we all thought, but seems like he wants all of us on our toes. I mean, there is still danger of him dying." Pallavi said shaking her head.

"At least I hope he comes out alive." I mumbled and sighed, remembering how hurriedly I left the home with the phone call from Pallavi.

I didn't even give much detail and that too properly. I just hope she doesn't think badly about all this.

"So, how is your life?" Pallavi asked staring at me.

"I am very happy!" I replied honestly and she smiled at me.

"You don't know how glad am I to hear that." She said, grinning at me before standing up.

"Where are you going?" I asked her frowning.

"I need to talk with David. I waited until now without answering him regarding his proposal." She explained and rushed towards my room which is near to the place we have to stay for the patient.

When the sound came from my beeper, I stood up and rushed towards the patient to see a few help already there waiting for the resident.

"Don't call Dr.Pallavi now." I instructed the nurse and she nodded before stopping the instructions for the beepers.

"Good job!" our head said before walking away and we all left the room after deciding the timings.

"He is fine now? I am so sorry, I didn't got the message." Pallavi said the moment I walked inside the canteen feeling hungry.

"I asked them not to and I never thought this much time will it take for the operation. I am really hungry right now." I mumbled shaking my head.

"You must be tired too, and I am sure the food here will not be enough. Why don't we go and meet our friends as usual and you can even have some good food?" she offered and I nodded before we both left the hospital towards the restaurant.

"If there is no emergency then we both are not needed. However, I instructed them to call me for an emergency as you looked after him for so much time yesterday." I said while walking near to David and Rakesh who are waiting for us.

"You were not lying right?" that's what David asked the moment we reached near to them.

"Of course not! And you seemed to be happy when I told you." Pallavi said frowning.

"Happy? He coughed his food out in shock." Rakesh said teasing him.

"I am so happy for both of you." I said, smiling at them and then dived into the food with my body on the verge of shutting down with no food from morning except coffee.

"I hope you will be happy for me too." We heard a voice and turned to see Girish walking near to us along with Rupa.

"Why does he always make such dramatic entries?" I asked them and they chuckled at my question.

"Today it is special to do it. Now, meet my official girlfriend." He said, pointing at Rupa.

"Finally, he had the nerve to ask me." Rupa said shaking her head.

"What a lie!" Girish mumbled and settled down.

"I think I am only left as single." Rakesh said with painted voice.

"Ask that question with your girlfriend and your six year relationship." David said hitting his shoulder.

"Why don't we go somewhere as couples together?" I offered.

"Aren't you going for a holiday?" Rupa asked frowning at me.

"Why would I?" I asked her frowning back.

"Vani kept two weeks time to leave right as a matter of going out of the station." She replied shaking her head.

"What?" I asked her in shock.

"You mean she lied? But I was told she was in a hurry during lunch time and didn't stay at a point for one single second." Rupa replied.

"That is totally our Vani but what must have happened?" Girish asked frowning.

"She said something to us right when we were talking and she returned from her call at lunch time?" Rupa asked him.

"I didn't hear her." Girish said frowning more.

"Lunchtime? I kind of got a call to your phone, but no one talked because of which I hung up." Pallavi said and I leaned back with complete confusion.

"Oh no!" Rupa mumbled and then stared at me.

"You need to go and stop her from walking away." She added.

"What? Why would she?" I asked her and everyone frowned at her.

"She will kill me if I tell you but I can't hide it knowing well your marriage is it at stake." She replied and then glanced at Pallavi.

"It has to do something with me?" Pallavi asked her in shock to which Rupa nodded.

"Oh god! I am so sorry." Pallavi said and shook her head.

"Will someone say what is happening here?" Rakesh asked and I was too busy thinking Vani walking away.

Is that what she had done? Even after everything we shared yesterday? I thought, and felt something stuck in my heart.

"I always did wonder why Vani seemed to be so distant with Pallavi and now we need answers." David said, staring at Pallavi who is on the verge of tears.

"Er... you see, do you remember the conversation we had the day before your engagement?" she asked turning towards me.

"Your questions?" I asked and she nodded.

"I called someone and they were on while I was talking to you, and you were replying to me. I kind of told that person that I love you and you like me too, but you are marrying only due to force from your mother." She replied and sat stunned.

"Vani was on the call?" I asked and she nodded.

"I took the sheet with her number you threw on the floor and called her. I am really sorry about this, Kamal. I thought you both had settled this matter by now." She said in a pleading tone.

"She ran away to my house when I am actually her enemy in college and always said that you wouldn't wish to marry her and wish for someone more modern and from city. She was there to tell me I was right, but I made her stay with me." Rupa said and this time we didn't have any words to say.

"Why didn't she say anything to anyone?" I asked her frowning.

"She was waiting for you to tell your mom regarding your love for some other girl a she didn't have any wish to hurt her or strength." She replied sighing.

We all sat for five minutes in silence before I felt a nudge at my ribs from Pallavi's side making me glare at her.

"What are you still doing here? Go and clear the misunderstanding before you lose her." She said and I just shook my head.

"She can't just run whenever she likes and I can't run behind her whenever she wants to." I said fisting my hands.

"If that's what you want." Rupa said, shrugging while everyone stayed in their seats in shock.

"Why are you so calm?" Girish asked her.

"It is not like her pure love all these years is any worth or the way she wished to let go of the thing that was killing her. And I don't think she did anything wrong or thinking to not want anything to do with you. She said she was more than happy today." She replied shrugging.

"I am going home!" I stated standing up and walked away.

I walked inside the flat expecting she may be present or returned, but she was not making me fist my hands more.

Well, she can do as per her wish! I thought, shaking my head and walked towards our room before lying on the bed.

"You can run as much as you want and I will not stop you at all, Vani. You should have believed me and us before anything now and not even a small call." I mumbled to myself before drifting off into sleep fighting her absence with as much force as I can.
