Star Struck: or Star Man and the China Girl
This week the Wattvampires Vampire Everywhere Summer Challenge is all about Teen Vampires. I decided to take on the sparkly teen vampire trope, turn it on its head, and add a little glitter. Enjoy the trip!
The year of Major Tom, 1974.
The Rainbow bleeds colours in a mind-melding kaleidoscope of light and sound on the Sunset Strip as the Star Man takes command of the helm. The stage is his throne and the words that drip from his tongue are crowning jewels. He shifts his hips and the youthful crowd at his feet convulses in response. Here he is a god.
But not the only one.
A teenage Venus glides through the sunken dream with fire in her hair and glitter in her eyes. The pink paint on her lips bleeds as she smiles a smile full of dark promises in the spotlight. There are diamonds embedded in her fangs. As she sways within the tempest of the music, a leather-clad puppet boy dances on strings at her side. His mind is lost to the depths of her acid kiss that crawls through his veins like fine china.
The Star Man, with his mismatched eyes all-seeing, watches between the fading heartbeats as rubies are forced from fleeting youths throat. So there is life on Mars after all and her name is China Girl.
