Of Vampires and Humans..
It could be by fate, yet the opposite tale is being told so soon.
"Plant some wolfbane to ward of werewolf" Cavalry reads aloud. "Anything silver can revel them from within." He closes the book he was reading and places it back in their library.
"Cavalry! You here?" Klein shouts from the other side of the library. Cavalry sighs and climbs down the ladder.
"You called? And this is still a library even if it is not public" Cavalry deadpans a little.
"Oh sorry" Klein lowers his voice to a whisper.
"It's fine. It's only two of us here anyways" Cavalry says waving off his statement. He looks for another book on the nearby shelf.
"I'm guessing you know about the werewolf incidents going around?" Klein asks handing Cavalry another book.
"That, and I'm worried for the town's well-being" Cavalry says skimming through the book Klein handed to him. He tosses it aside and pulls another one as Klein barely manages to catch the thrown book.
"Take a breather Cavalry!" Klein says catching another tossed book. "Don't you remember the folk tale about the witch's deal with the werewolves?"
"Yes I've heard of it" Cavalry says stacking laying about books to certain pages like a mad man. Klein had enough and drops the books he had before gripping Cavalry by the shoulders.
"Dude stop!" Klein shouts snapping Cavalry out of his frenzy. He collapses to his knees covering his face in disappointment.
"I'm sorry..I'm sorry" he weeps softly.
Klein kneels beside him placing a comforting hand on his shoulder.
"You're being silly Cavalry. We're all doing our part, and so is the village" Klein reassures. Cavalry lowers his hands. "The witch's spell is still around this village so you shouldn't worry too hard"
"Sorry.." Cavalry apologizes as Klein helps him up. "Men do treacherous things when they become oblivious to love"
"Still understood very little of what that meant" Klein chuckles in embarrassment. He dusts himself off and looks over to an open book. "Huh? What's this?" He flips to the first page and notices writing detailing two people in a relationship. "This your diary Cavalry?"
"What no!" Cavalry says blushing a little. "The pages are yellow and the cover is wrinkled meaning its old!"
"Well whatever. Shall we read?" Klein suggests with a sly smile and devious sparkles in his eyes.
"Devilish you are" Cavalry sighs in defeat.
==========FLASHBACK============
"Awaken.." a voice calls to Valent. "Time to embrace a newer life." The voice sounded seductive and embraceable, almost...almost..
"Valent! Up and at it!" a fierce voice jolts Valent to his feet and snapping him from his daydream. "Good reflex" the voice says slapping him on the back.
"Ow" Valent cries out a little realizing his "captain" was his trainee friend Lisbeth. "Scared me to death there Lis" he replies calling Lisbeth by her nickname.
"Why so? Am I a vampire ready for the kill?" Lisbeth nipping his neck. Valent only laughs and taps her forehead away from him. The twosome were paroling a nearby church when it started to rain. They decided to take cover inside till the rain had passed by.
"It's pouring heavily today" Valent says looking out the window. Lisbeth opens a glass stained window and catches a few droplets in her hand.
"Yet the sun is still right here" Lisbeth says splashing Valent.
"Quit teasing Lisbeth, you're making me blush" Valent admits looking away. "Though I rather be picking flowers for my precious Gracedia"
"Is the priest here? Maybe he'll know when it stops" Lisbeth suggests. Valent sheathes his short blade to his side as he head to altar.
"Father? Father Abraham? Are you here?" Valent asks passing by the elevated hanging crucifix. "Doesn't seem to be-" A clattering noise brings Lisbeth and Valent on alert. They place careful hands on their weapons, Valent his sword and Lisbeth her crossbow. They find a door behind the altar and nod to each other before knocking.
"Father Abraham? It's me Lisbeth. Are you okay?" Lisbeth calls out to the door. A light snarl and more clattering of books falling was the response. 'I'll open the door. Weapons ready' Lisbeth signs. Valent nods gripping his holy metal sword. They slowly open the door, a dark room only in sight...
A/n: Vampyr has some really good lore with Vampire stuff so this picture featuring a priest embracing a vampire infection lifestyle was really perfect for this scene.
"Graaaah!" Father Abraham screeches in pain. His skin broken and eyes lifeless.
"Father Abraham!" Valent gasps dropping his sword and rushing to him.
"Valent no!" Lisbeth calls out, but it was too late. Fr. Abraham lunges at his and bites Valent's neck.
"Gyaah!" Valent cries out as his blood was being sucked out of him.
"Get off him you vampire bastard!!" Lisbeth shouts as he bashes Fr. Abraham and shoot his shoulder with her crossbow.
With a screech, Fr. Abraham bounds for the exit.
"Valent! Are you okay?" Lisbeth shouts rushing to her lover's side.
"I'm fine. We have go get to Fr. Abraham before he escapes" Valent says focusing on their main job. He unsheathes his sword and his face ablaze with a fire of determination. Lisbeth nods in agreement. A little worry still sprouted in her heart.
Fr. Abraham roars in pain when Lisbeth and Valent enters. The large crucifix seemed to tear into his soul.
"Raaah!" Valent shouts as he tackles Fr to the ground. "Bastard!" He shouts tusseling with Fr. Abraham by the altar.
"Valent! Get off him!" Lisbeth pleads. Fr kicks him off, gasping for air and gripping his chest in pain. Lisbeth shoots Father's arms pinned down with her crossbolts.
"Why did you do that? We should kill him already" Valent says stepping forward. Lisbeth stops him.
"I'm..sorry children.." Fr. Abraham says softly. "I didn't..want to..want to..scare the people like this" he gasps.
"I'm sorry Father" Lisbeth apologizes. "I hope you find peace in heaven" she says looking away and pointing her crossbow to the hanging crucifix. With two quick shots, she snaps the ropes holding it up as it impales Fr. Abraham. He gasps in pain as the paleness in his eyes fade.
----------Flashback End-------------
"What happened to Valent after that?" Klein asks finishing the last page.
"I'm not sure but does his face seem familiar?" Cavalry asks noting to an old picture in the diary.
"Don't know. We should keep this secret for now" Klein suggests closing the diary
"Agreed. It would cause fear among the others" Cavalry says cleaning up the books. "Though I worry somethig else is amiss"
