Marinette's POV
I'm in Burkitsville Maryland, USA. My name is Marinette Chandler and I'm from Long Island New York. I decided to go on a road trip to Richmond Virginia to visit my grand parents. I could of flown there, but I'm scared of flying. Have been since my dad died in a plan crush when I was a child. I am twenty years old and an only child. Never knew my mother.
Anyway I'm taking a break from song writing and singing. I've been a singer since I was discovered at sixteen. Ever since I've been doing my own songs. But as I said I am taking a break from singing and song writing to spend time with my grandparents.
I'm actually a little lost. I should be in Baltimore, not Burkitsville. I am suppose to be arriving at Washington tonight. I only have three hours till sundown and I have no idea how to get to Washington from here. So I pull into the local gas station to get directions while I fuel up my car. Once my car was full I go inside to pay and get directions.
"Hi, I was wondering if you could help me" I say to the elderly man behind the counter.
"Well you're a new face, what can I do for you?" he asks me with a smile.
"I'm trying to get to Washington, but I've gotten a little lost. I'm suppose to be in Baltimore, but I round up here" I tell him sheepishly.
"You're diffidently lost, Baltimore is nearly seventy miles from here" he tells me with a chuckle.
"Do you think you could point me in the right direction to get to Washington from here?" I ask him hopeful.
"Sure you got a map?" he asks me.
"Yeah in my car" I tell him and we go to it. I take out the map.
"OK, so you're here" he says pointing to a spot on the map. He takes a pencil and draws the quickest route. "Take this route and you'll be there in ninety minutes tops" he tells me.
"Thank you so much, here's the money for the fuel" I say handing him some cash. I get in and turn my car on.
"Wait ma'am" he says tapping on my window.
"Is something wrong sir?" I ask him confused.
"You're engine, I can hear it ticking" he tells me and I frown in confusion. "Have you had your timing belt done since you've had this car?" he asks me.
"No" I tell him honestly.
"How old is it?" he asks me.
"Thirteen years" I answer.
"You're timing belt needs to be done, otherwise you'll get engine trouble. You may break down in the middle of nowhere" he tells me.
"Oh, do you think it'll be ok until I reach Richmond?" I ask him hopeful.
"Best not risk it" he tells me and I sigh turning off my car.
"How long will it take?" I ask him.
"A few hours, but the auto repair shop is closed until morning" he tells me.
"But I'm suppose to be in Washington tonight" I tell him.
"Sorry ma'am, but you'll have to spend the night here. My wife owns the motel and can give you a room" he tells me.
"Guess I don't have much of a choice" I grumble.
"The motel is just ten minutes that way, tell the lady at the desk I sent you" he tells me pointing to the right. I nod my head and get out of the car. "I'll drop your car off at the shop tomorrow, my brother runs it. You should be up and running by lunch time tomorrow" he assures me.
"Ok, thanks for the help" I tell him smiling. I grab an over night bag and walk to the motel. I go inside and hit the bell. A nice elderly woman appears.
"Yes, how can I help you?" she asks me with a smile.
"I'd like a room for the night, my car is having troubles. It won't be repaired until morning. The man at the station said you could give me a room" I tell her.
"Oh you poor dear" she says sympathetically. "Would you like a room with a bathroom?" she asks me. As she looks at her log book.
"That would be nice" I tell her. She gives me a key and tells me the room number. I then go to it and settle in for the night. I have a nice shower and change into my pjs. When I reenter the bedroom I find a warm cup of milk on the night stand.
Something to help you sleep, hope you have a pleasant night. A note beside it says and I smile. My grandma used to always give me a glass of warm milk before bed. Before my parents moved to Long Island. I sit on the bed and drink it. I start to feel very sleepy and before I know it, I black out. The last thing I hear is the mug dropping on the ground.
(Alter in the forest)
I wake up tied to an alter in the forest wearing a white Victorian night gown. "What the hell? Where am I? What's happening?" I demand as Itry to escapes the ropes that bind my hand & feet.
"You are so lucky yo be chosen dear" the old lady from the motel says placing some sort of crown on my head.
"Chosen? For what?" I spat beyond annoyed.
"To be the vampire king's bride" the elderly man from the station says. "It's time to begin the ceremony" he tells others. I notice five people in total and we're surrounded by burning torches. They all start to sing.
"Ah, ah, ah, ah♪ Ah, ah, ah, ah♪ Dearly beloved, We're gathered today♪ To praise the one called Marinette, And give her away♪ Linked and joined forever, She'll be by your side♪ Valdronya, we present you♪ Your vampire bride" they sing in unison.
"Hear us now, Valdronya♪ And come to our side♪ The time has come for claiming♪ Your vampire bride♪ Ah, ah, ah, ah♪ Ah, ah, ah, ah" they continue in harmony.
"Look, our master hears our call" the man says pointing to an approaching figure in the sky. I hear giant wings flapping. I try to free myself by trying to bite the ropes, but I can't reach them.
They all kneel as a part bat part man lands in front of them. He looks at them then at me. He smiles showing his fangs his eyes gleaming. I whimper and continue trying to get away. "Well done my faithful subjects" he praises them in a deep masculine voice.
"Close your eyes♪ And come to me♪ When you wake♪ Then you shall be♪ Alive for all eternity♪ With me" he sings waving his right hand. A gas falls over the five worshipers and they start to fall to the ground unconscious. He then starts to walk towards me still singing. "Dark of the moon and beauty so bright♪ Spirits arise and call to the night♪ From Earth to the stars♪ And all that's between♪ Beware and behold the vampire queen" he finishes.
He grabs my cheeks making me look into his blood red eyes. "A mortal beauty" he says smiling as he rubs my left cheek with his thumb. I start to feel woozy as fog surrounds us.
"Your queen" I say weakly and pass out. The last thing I remember is him freeing me of the ropes and picking me up bridal style. And flying away from the alter.
