Chapter Eight

Monday came way too quickly for Sky, making it the beginning of her fourth week at Vamcult. She dreaded going back, but deep down she knew she had to make the best of it. She was being forced to go to the new school, so she couldn't very well drop out as if she even really had a choice about it anyways.

She figured there had to be at least one person who would be willing to befriend her and only one person actually came to mind. As she went through the halls it was still the same, everyone ignored her and stayed away at least five feet from her. They even moved out of the way when they saw her coming. She sighed and thought that she really might have a chance.

She hated this place.

She walked into her classroom and stopped when she heard sniggering upon her entering. She looked around at the seven people, in a large group, sitting on the desks looking at her with laughing faces. What was with them? She thought to herself and slowly started to walk around them.

She saw Fulk sitting at his desk with his face in a comic book, then she became bewildered. Her desk was gone and so was every other empty desk. The group behind burst out laughing and she felt her face heat up with embarrassment.

What kind of sick joke was this?

She heard the kids laugh even harder. She turned around looking for anywhere to sit, but there wasn't any. She didn't know what to do. She looked over at Fulk and saw he was completely ignoring the whole situation.

Then she saw it, a tiny smirk on his face.

Then realization sunk in, they were testing her. They wanted to see what she would do and how she would react. They must figure she would start crying or something. Well, they won't see any tears that was for sure. They were being cruel, and she was not going to give them the satisfaction of seeing her become hurt at their stupid little joke.

Mr. Lasota walked in at that moment and with his face in a book he didn't even bother to look up as he went to his desk in the front. "Alright everyone, today is group day!" he said enthusiastically.

He looked at them and frowned when Sky was the only one still standing. "Is something the matter Ms. Contour?" he asked, not realizing that there was nowhere for her to sit, he didn't even notice that the desks were missing.

She put on a bright smile. "Oh no Mr. Lasota, there isn't. I was just getting ready to sit down."

She still heard the sniggering of the other students, but she ignored them. She put her stuff on the ground and sat right on down to the floor, where her desk should have been and crossed her legs in Indian style.

"Oh! Where is your-"

"Yes Mr. Lasota? Where is my what?" she cut him off and gave him an innocent look.

"Ah...never mind." he said, showing less shock and gave a smile as he shook his head.

That stopped the sniggering from the others and some of them even coughed, sitting straighter in their chairs as they gave their attention to the teacher.

Sky smiled to herself. "Mr. Lasota, you were saying something about group day?" she asked him, wondering what group day was.

"Ah yes! Group day is when we join groups and do a project, but since there are nine of you now it's uneven. So, I have decided to join one of the groups this time."

He grabbed a box that was no bigger than the size of a holiday card and put it on his desk. "Okay two groups of five, who wants to be team captains?" he asked the class, and every hand went into the air except for two, Sky and Fulk.

She felt uncomfortable and Fulk had an annoyed look on his face. Lasota noticed it and said quickly, "I think Fulk should be one of the captains since he never volunteers."

Fulk raised his eyebrows at him with that. As soon as he said that all the girls put their hands back down, clearly not wanting to be the other team captain. Fulk got up, stood in the front and faced them, looking bored.

"Alrigh,t who else?" he asked the remaining class. "Ah, Trevor how about you?"

The others gave a moan at that. "What? You guys know you love me as team captain." Trevor, who was one of the twins, said in a sweet annoying way.

"Yeah we would, if you didn't lose every single time." His brother Troy said, and they all laughed.

"Lose? Is this a competition?" Sky asked, feeling even more nervous now.

"Yes, the way it works is that there are two teams, they both have to choose an ancient object of their choice, define the history behind it and where it is located at the present time." Mr. Lasota said to her and they all began to get excited right then.

"Then they present it to the class and the Dean, since I can't, will judge who did the best project." He smiled.

"Oh." she said, it sounded really difficult.

"Yeah and the best part is we get to travel!" Vivian, who was the Spanish girl, said with excitement.

Travel? Her eyes went wide with that. They get to do that here?

"Yes, finding the object in person is an extra hundred points, if it still exists of course." The teacher said as he grabbed the box and held it in front of him. "Okay, now everyone write your name on a piece of paper, fold it four times and into the box."

Everyone did as they were told, except for the team captains, and put them in the box, including Mr. Lasota.

"Okay Fulk, you get to go first." He handed the box in his direction and waited.

Without looking he stuck his hand in and grabbed a piece of paper. He unfolded it and read the name out loud. "Vivian." he smiled.

Vivian jumped up with a whoop and nearly skipped to Fulk's side. She even gave him a high five, then turned to face the class right next to him. Trevor did the same thing and with a loud yell he said,

"Sweeeeet my boy Troy!"

His twin brother, who was more muscular and taller in size, got up and the two slapped hands the same way Vivian and Fulk did, but with more force and enthusiasm. The rest waited patiently as Fulk once again stuck his hand in the box. She could actually see the rest of the girls hold their breaths as he took out the piece of paper. She couldn't help to rolled her eyes at them.

"Lasota."

The teacher just nodded, and the others slumped in disappointment, not even bothering to hide the fact, even one of them whined. They sure didn't act the same way when Trevor also put his hand in and brought a piece of paper out. His face beamed in delight.

"Sky!" he said pleased, then he looked over, saw the dark look that Fulk was giving him and he backed away a little. "Oh, my bad it says Mei! Mixed the two up." he laughed nervously and looked away quickly.

Mei groaned in disappointment and got up to stand with them with a small pout. Sky frowned as Fulk grabbed a paper, looked at it, then he crumpled it.

"Contour." he said in the same tone he always gave off and crossed his arms over his chest.

Lasota raised a brow at him using the girl's last name instead of calling her by her first like everyone else did. He figured it was because of who she was. He just let the matter go and watched as Sky slowly got up from the ground and walked next to Vivian, who stiffened just a bit from her nearness. It made him a little uncomfortable. Fulk noticed it too and squeezed her arm to reassure her and she gave him a weak smile.

"Well, it looks like I got Lucy." Trevor said, looking down at the piece of paper.

Fulk stiffened when he read the name and cursed silently. He got Rose. Just great. There was just something about her that rubbed him the wrong way. Ever since he met her two years ago, she looked as if she wanted to devour him on the spot and he didn't mean eating either. She looked at him as if she wanted to attack him and have her way with him. He became quite uncomfortable around her. He swallowed hard and said her name with a tense voice.

"Rose."

She slipped out of her chair with ease and grace, it was as if she floated towards him. She looked at no one else as she gave him an inviting smile that made his stomach churn with disgust. She got so close to him he literally had to cringe back a little.

"Well, for the first time it seems we are finally on the same team Fulky." she nearly purred at him.

Fulk hated it when she called him that. It sounded like a pet's name and somehow, he felt that that was what he was to her. Her pet. "Unfortunately." he said to her.

Her eyes flashed with fire as she walked in between him and Vivian, purposely pushing her to the side where she collided with Sky, who fell forward and stumbled to the ground.

"Hey!" she yelled turning to look at them, about to give the girl a piece of her mind when suddenly Vivian made her stop.

She didn't know what was wrong with her, but she knew something was. The look on her face gave her goose bumps and was beginning to scare her. Her eyes had changed color, almost to a black and she was standing frigid like a statue. Her nostrils flared, and she was making a small growling sound that was deep and unnatural for a small girl to make.

Vivian took a small step towards her, reaching her hands out like claws as if she was going to pounce on her and that was when everyone, except Rose, grabbed her. Sky couldn't believe it. It nearly took all their strength to stop one small girl from attacking her.

"Vivi calm down! It's okay! Look at me alright!" Fulk yelled as he stood in front of Sky holding Vivian back.

She became terrified at what was going on. Why was she trying to attack her? It wasn't as if she was the one who pushed her. Hell, she was the one on the ground being pushed! She didn't understand what was happening or what was wrong with her. Mr. Lasota forcibly turned Vivian around to face him, but she kept trying to turn back towards Sky, still growling.

"Vivian look at me! LOOK AT ME!" He yelled with such force that Sky had to cover her ears from the boom it brought with it.

Finally, she stopped fighting them and looked at Lasota. "Control yourself just like we all practiced alright, you can do this sweetheart, your better than this." he said to her softly, still holding onto her tightly.

Vivian was battling within herself. She closed her eyes tightly and physically shook herself. She put her hands on both sides of her head as if trying to block out demons that were trying to torment her. They all stood there for long moments as they cautiously watched her.

"Vivi?" Fulk said in a dead serious voice as he stood in front of Sky, as if ready to protect her if needed and she found that both reassuring and odd.

"I'm...I'm alright." she whispered in a shaky voice.

"Here, take her to Dr. Ross for about an hour and make her get a nap in." Lasota said to the twins and they both complied.

After they left the room everyone looked at Fulk, who was clearly angry.

"She didn't mean for that to happen Fulk." Lasota said in earnest. "It wasn't her fault."

Fulk put up his hand to make him stop.

"No, it wasn't." he said staring daggers at Rose, who was acting like nothing had gone amiss a few moments ago.

"We need to talk, but later." he continued to Lasota and turned around to look at Sky, who was frightened, confused and was still on the ground.

He crouched down in front of her. He tried to show some calmness, even though he was anything but that. "About that, Vivi has a... certain condition that is very hard to explain."

"She's not the only one." Rose whispered as she looked down at her nails.

He turned to her with a deadly dark look. "Do me the favor and shut your damn mouth." he almost barked at her in his anger.

Rose stood up straighter and the laughter in her eyes disappeared instantly. She knew she had stepped over the line and everyone gave her dirty looks. Since when did they all care about this weak human girl? Of course, they must be worried what would happen to them if ever this got to Lord Sayles. He will surely punish them, and it will be her fault if that happened. Fulk was the man's son after all, so she had to be extra careful when it came to the human.

"I don't understand." Sky whispered, looking at all of them in turn. The hostility was heavy in the air.

"Maybe one day you will." Lasota said sadly and that made her frown.

"Alright everyone, let's get back to the projects and get started. Mei your team will have to just go with whatever you decide. I'm afraid they might be gone awhile okay and Mickey you'll be joining their team."

"Yes Mr. Lasota." Mei said, and her group went to push their tables together.

They all started to work on their project and started to discuss on what ancient object they wanted to present. Sky didn't talk much, and she couldn't concentrate on the project at all. She kept playing the scene over and over in her mind, trying to understand what exactly had happened.

What was all that? Why did Vivian react in such a way for? It had to be something that was a regular occurrence for the whole class to know what to do. They acted like this had happened before, but not often. And they seemed to be upset with Rose for causing the incident in the first place.

She was terrified at the look Vivian had given her and her eyes is what bothered her the most. Can someone's eyes really change like that? They were almost black. It was as if she was turning into a completely different person or something, someone that wasn't her at all.

Sky was so into her thoughts that she almost practically jumped out of her seat when she felt someone grab her hand and gave it a small squeeze under the table, that they made out of four desks. She looked down at her locked hands that were pressed tightly together and was surprised to see that the hand on top of them belonged to Fulk.

She looked up at him, but he wasn't looking at her, was in fact listening to what Lasota was saying. She felt a blush burn her cheeks and berated herself for the feeling. Why was he being so nice for? He quickly removed his hand, and she knew he only wanted to reassure her of what had happened earlier.

"I think we should do the Silver Aztec Contour." Rose said with confidence.

"The Sliver Aztec what?" Sky asked in astonishment.

"Contour." she said brightly.

Sky saw Fulk stiffen, but he didn't say anything.

"Why that?" Lasota asked, curiosity on his beautiful handsome face.

"Well, because it's a very rare item, its history is unknown and its whereabouts is that it completely vanished." she said with a dreamy look upon her.

"But what is it?" Sky asked her.

Rose gave her an exasperated sigh. "Don't you know anything? It's a necklace of course." She looked at her in disgust.

"Well, not everyone finds such valuable items for their own personal gain, like you." Fulk said icily to her and she drew her shoulders back in anger.

"What does it look like?" Sky asked and secretly smiled that Rose was once again put in her place by the same person.

"Well, that's just it, no one knows. There are guesses and some drawings, but anybody could be making the necklace up. It might not even exist." Lasota said, losing interest now.

"It is real! I know it is." Rose said heatedly.

"It's a fool's errand Rose and almost impossible to prove it does exist." Fulk said to her in irritation.

"So, what? You don't even want to try?" she shot at him.

"And lose the game for good? That's what will happen if we choose that." Fulk shot back at her.

"Is that all you care about, is winning?" she spat at him.

"That's the whole point of the damn project Rose!" He slammed his hand down against the desk, making everyone in the room jump.

They starred daggers at each other. The other group looked at them with unmasked fascination as the hostility imitated from their bodies, making the room fill with intensity. Sky looked between the two of them and seeing the dark looks, it was almost frightening. They were both tensed with suppressed anger. Nobody quite knew what to do about the situation.

"Alright you two, calm down. Rose, why are you so interested in the necklace?" Mr. Lasota asked her, the only one not so bothered by the outburst of the two.

Rose blinked and shrugged. "I thought it would have been a good choice and a challenge."

"Well, I think it's stupid to even try." Fulk said, crossing his arms over his chest as Rose clenched her teeth together.

"And why do we always have to do what you want?! Why can't you let someone else make the decisions for once?!" she bit out at him.

"Alright, both of you stop!" Lasota stood up, finally getting angry now. "I have a better idea, since this is new to Sky and her first project, she'll get to choose the object." he said in a hard tone to both of them, his eyes flashing.

All three looked at her all at once with accusing eyes as if she was the one causing their anger, even though she knew that wasn't the case. But she wished she could climb under the tables and stay there for the rest of the evening.

"Um, well I'm actually interested in the necklace and I think we should give it a shot." she said to them meekly.

Rose brightened up instantly and Fulk gave a huge sigh, looking upset and sat back down. Sky felt bad, but there was something that seemed so familiar about the necklace and a deep drive to find out what it was. She didn't want to agree with Rose, but that couldn't be helped when she too was highly interested in it.

"Alright, then we will get started on the history of it and where it first originated from." Lasota said to them and went to the other group with their forms and started talking to them.

"Don't look so damn pleased Rose, by the end of the first day you'll wish you never heard of that damn necklace." Fulk said as he got up and went to the white board. He wrote down their names and the ancient artifact underneath.

Troy and Trevor entered the room just then. "What did we miss?" Trevor asked joyfully.

Troy looked at the board and frowned. "Silver Aztec Contour? Out of all things to choose from, you choose that?" he laughed at them. "Good luck."

The twins went back to their group and instantly a heated argument started between them about their object.

"That sounds stupid to me." Trevor said.

"Well, it's not! They are very interesting and dated back before the Christ! So, you know they are really old!" Mei said hotly.

"Well, it doesn't matter Trevor, we're going to win this time because the Carved Stone Balls from Scotland can be found." They all laughed at that.

Fulk sat down heavily on his seat, looking very annoyed making Sky feet even worse. Maybe they should change their object, even though she really did want to know all about it. As well as its location and the simple fact that she didn't think she could figure it out all on her own. But it was just an item and not really important to her. She didn't even know it existed until a few moments ago. She was about to say something when Rose spoke up first.

"Don't worry we'll show them, with my determination it'll be a piece of cake." she said, not disturbed by they're being made fun of.

"Well, I guess we'll see, won't we." he said and then the bell rang.

********************

Sky sat on a bench outside of the school grounds by herself. It was a little chilly, but not too bad to where she needed to wear her jacket, so she kept it off. She sat eating her late-night lunch that she at the last minute remembered to grab before she went out the front door.

It was a very poorly made turkey sandwich, no mayo, no mustard, one slice of lettuce and maybe a few slices of turkey. She also had a juice box that came with it. What was this, first grade? Only her father could have done this, for her mother would never have given this meal to her child. It was dry and tasteless, and her juice was gone just after three drinks. She sat there pondering on what to do next. She looked at her watch and noticed she still had twenty minutes before her next class.

"Great, no friends, no homework, nothing else to eat my time away." she said to herself.

She adjusted her sweater when something caught the corner of her eye. She looked up and saw someone walking towards the forest and disappeared into the overgrown fortress. She got up quickly, snatching her jacket and bag and started walking briskly towards the same direction, making sure that no one spotted her.

She didn't want the same incident happening again like her first day of school. She was sure that it was the same boy from the meadow. He was headed in that direction and this time she could find out where it was.

She stopped short of the slight opening between the two torch poles, that outlined the perimeter of the school grounds. It was just as dark and gloomy as she remembered it was and just as eerie. She turned around to look at the scene trying to photograph memory it. Then she took out a black sharpie from her pocket and wrote a big X on the poles just in case.

Hopefully it will stay on, she thought to herself. She put the pen back into her pocket and stepped forward into the forest. She found the small worn-out path and started walking. She finally came to the clearing, bent down and saw the boy sitting with his knees drawn up, his arms resting on them, looking down at his hands. She looked around the clearing and took in the beautiful surroundings.

It was a crescent moon that night and it shone brightly as if it shined down only for this spot. She smiled, wishing the boy would hurry up and leave so she could enjoy this just as much. She looked back at him and wondered who he was. It was too dark, and he was still too far away for her to see him clearly. She wondered that maybe she had passed him in the hallway during class hours.

"You know, instead of just sitting and spying on me you could come out and join me if you like." he said loudly to her, but not looking in her direction.

She nearly jumped when he spoke. He knew she was there the whole time. She felt embarrassed and a little sheepish at being caught. What was worse, she knew exactly who he was by the sound of his voice and felt even dumber. He probably thought she was stalking him or something. Great, why did it have to be him?

When he didn't get an answer, Fulk turned to where he knew she was at and waited. He knew he had surprised her when he had spoken out loud, but he had senses that were powerful, and he could hear a buzz from a fly ten yards away with noise.

He knew she was there the first time around as well, but they didn't know each other then and he didn't want to frighten her. He did however, wonder why she had never returned after that. He assumed that maybe she just didn't want to invade his privacy, but then why come back now?

After the incident in the classroom with Vivi he had watched Sky's every move since then. He knew it was an accident on Vivian's part and he wanted to lash out at Rose for causing it. They all knew the consequences if any harm came to the mortal. His father had personally came to the school and informed them all three months ahead of time. That was when Lasota, Souza and Dr. Ross was instructed to prepare the students on how to control themselves around a human being, without turning into savages.

Only Fulk didn't possess that curse as he was a pureblood. He had strengths far greater than anyone, including his own father. Unfortunately, that also made every one of their kind afraid of him, even though he never gave them any reason to be. It was the simple fact of knowing that caused them the fear.

He was stronger in strength, senses, accuracy, agility, and he possessed three things that none of them had or could do. He could walk in daylight, eat normal food when he choose too, and he had a beating heart. He didn't really have friends there at the school, unless you counted Vivian and Mr. Lasota. They were the only two people who weren't really afraid of him since they, more or less, grew up with him.

The rest of them were just simply too afraid to even try, being who he was. The son to the King of vampires, which actually made him the prince since they were really royalty in both mortal and vampire world. A Duke for the humans and a King for the vampires, go figure. His father was the first to actually be born a vampire.

Fulk's grandfather, who he had never met in his life, was the very first vampire. But he wasn't born one. No, he was cursed by an evil witch that felt betrayed by him or as the story was told. No one however, was ever born a pureblood though, meaning both parents were vampires giving birth to a pureblood. It's impossible to accomplish since a female half-blood, as they were called, half vampire, half human, is already born barren, while a female bitten becomes barren upon the change.

Fulk didn't understand how his mother could have given birth to him, but she did. They said it was because he was the son of the King, that only his father could possess the power to have her bare a child for him. Fulk didn't believe that, but he accepted it just like the others.

Somehow, he captured some traits of the human part of his mother although, unfortunately in his mind, he also captured more traits from the vampire side of his father. But one thing he knew for sure was that he didn't possess the need to thirst.

He finally watched Sky come out of the bushes and started walking towards him, looking embarrassed and he smiled. She was so innocent, and it had been a very long time since he was around someone has pure as she was. He found it refreshing and as much as he wanted to be around that, he knew he couldn't.

His smile faded thinking on that, making him look away. He wasn't used to being around people, everyone avoided him, even his father did. He couldn't let someone like her get under his skin, but she was intriguing and that scared him. She finally reached him and stopped about five feet away.

"I wasn't spying on you." she said a bit weakly and he laughed.

"No huh? Then what were you doing?" he asked her with a grin on his face.

Sky stared at that grin that made his face light up. It made him even more handsome than anyone knew what to do with. She stood up straighter realizing he was waiting for her answer.

"I came here for this." She swung her arm out to the clearing.

He looked around and frowned at her. "Why?" he demanded.

He was actually starting to get a little upset. She came here for this? This was his domain, his sanctuary of peace and serenity. If she thought she was just going to come in here thinking she could take it, she was dead wrong. No one ever came here but him, in fact, none of them even knew it existed, not for the lack of trying to keep it hidden of course.

"Because it's beautiful and looks peaceful that's why." she said defensively.

Well, she was right of course, but that didn't mean he had to share it. He never shared anything with anybody. And he didn't want to start now.

"Do you always come here?" she asked him, looking up at the star filled sky.

He studied her for a moment and thought that, even in the moonlight she looked ethereal as she did in the sun that day that he first saw her on the road. He looked away quickly feeling a tightness in his chest that he wasn't quite familiar with.

"All the time, it's the only place I feel I can be me." he said a bit softly.

She put her head down and stared at the little white flowers that refused to go to sleep for the night. "Do you ever feel lonely in there?" She nodded her head in the direction of the school.

He looked at her and understood what she was feeling all too well. She didn't belong here, and she knew that. She couldn't help the way they all treated her any more than he could about himself with them. Of how they all ignored her, wouldn't go anywhere near her. They couldn't help that either though. There were some whisperings going around that he wasn't immune too about her in the school and it was all coming from the group of girls in the lounge.

They were making everyone laugh or snub her and he was beginning to get pissed about it. It wasn't her fault that she got stuck in the school with them, or at least he didn't think she knew why she was there. She didn't have any friends here and she looked so sad that he repeatedly kept feeling that pull of his heart strings every time he saw it in her eyes.

He heaved out a sigh, "Okay." He relented, something he didn't do quite often.

She looked at him with an incredulous look. "What?"

"You can come here with me during the break, but no talking! I like the silence, it's one of the reasons why I like it here." He got up while saying that and walked away to the other end of the clearing.

She ran after him "Really?" she asked happily, thinking that maybe she could make a friend out of him yet.

"On one condition." he said.

She stopped in her tracks when he turned to her and said that.

"We don't interact with each other; you have your space and I'll have mine, got it?" he told her and not waiting for a reply he turned back around and went to the small stream that appeared.

Well, so much for being friends she thought with a sigh and decided to just stand there instead of following him, then thought better of it and walked after him.

"I thought I heard water." she said as she gazed down at the little stream, that was flowing crystal clear water steadily through the meadow and back into the forest.

He stopped for a moment and wondered if he could trust her with something. He thought that maybe she would like to see something that was now rare these days to find. He smiled at her and reached out his hand.

"Come here, I want to show you something." He didn't know why, but he did feel that he could trust her with this secret.

She at first hesitated, but after a moment she went and grabbed his outstretched hand. The contact sent a shock through her arm and she felt him squeeze her fingers for just a second as if he too felt the sensation. He helped her walk over to the other side of the stream, then he bent down to the edge of it and pulled her down to do the same thing. When she knelt right next to him, he waited for her to notice it.

Sky didn't know what to expect, maybe a little family of tadpoles or something, but it wasn't this. At first glance she thought it was just the moon reflecting off the water, but at a closer look she could see it was the color of gold, not silver. She gasped when she realized that it was gold.

Gold flecks and gold nuggets the size of the pad of her thumb. She looked at Fulk to see that he was looking at her for her reaction, and that was when she felt the first stirrings of her insides in her heart and throughout her stomach. She looked away quickly and went red in the face as her heart pounded in her chest.

Fulk went stalk still. He didn't know what had caused her heart rate and blood to go faster than a moment before. But for some reason, which had never happened to him before, he felt for the first time the sudden hunger hit him. He was more shocked than anything. He needed to put some distance between them and fast. He got up quickly and jumped over to the other side of the stream as he tried to calm the urge that was overtaking him.

What was wrong with him? Many times, he has seen, heard, or felt humans blood rush and even seen it flow out of them. But never had he had such a strong urge to attack someone. Sometimes he was forced to drink from the living, his father made sure of that. When he discovered his son preferred to eat food or out of blood bags, he became outraged and blamed it on his wife that it was her fault for being born human.

So, he pounded it into Fulk's head that he was a vampire above anything else and made sure he had his nightly outings when he was younger, even though Fulk hated every minute of it. Over time he despised his father for it, but never had he felt the need to attack. He didn't like it at all, not one little bit.

He closed his eyes tightly, feeling the saliva gather in his mouth. He closed it and tried to swallow it down, but it didn't help much.

"May I take one to look at it?" she asked him, and her voice echoed in his ears.

He opened his eyes and saw her looking at him with those damn innocent ones of hers. "Sure, go ahead." He forced himself to say and he desperately tried to think of other things, but it wasn't helping at all.

"It's really real, isn't it?" she asked as she looked and held a nugget the size of her pinky nail, examining it closely.

He didn't say anything to her, afraid that he might scare her as he fought the drive to sink his teeth into her soft flesh. This wasn't good, wasn't good at all and he was beginning to freak himself out by losing control. Control, something he always pride himself in that he had when it became to what he was.

"Who else knows about this place? I find it hard to believe that no one at the school knows about it other than you." Sky said a bit amazed.

He couldn't take it anymore. He stood up quickly and practically ran away from her in the direction of the school, leaving her there to stare after him. The urge wouldn't go away even as he got further away from her. What the hell was going on with him?

"Hey where are you going?!" She stood up when she saw him leave her like that. "What did I say wrong?" she asked herself, frowning.

She looked down at the nugget in her palm and threw it back in the stream. Something was wrong with him, she felt that there was. He was acting strange all of the sudden and she didn't understand what had caused it. She didn't know what she said or did to make him feel uncomfortable like that, but she felt even more depressed. She heard the bell ring from the school and started walking back to go to her second class.
