Year 71 of the True Calender.

In an age where seventy percent of the human population live in space,

Mankind is divided into two opposing factions.

The Marleyian Military Federation, a child born from countless military treaties,

and Eldia, which came to be through trade agreements.

Yet, a third nation managed to prosper in the shadows of these two Titans.

That nation was Paradis.

It was a tranquil nation that heralded peace and neutrality.

However, the day a surprise Marleyian attack was launched, they received a grim reminder.

In a Holding Facility

"So you're saying he's not an Attack Academy student, but a Marleyian soldier?" asks a man in a suit named Flagon Turret.

"Yes" answers Eren.

"Is there anything else you know about him?" asks Turret.

"His name. Levi" answers Eren.

Turret gasps at this name. He cautiously and fearfully steps back as he and the three other men with him pull out guns and point them at Levi.

"Huh? What..." blurts out Eren, confused at the sudden hostility.

"On your feet!" demands Turret.

"We promise to honor the New Guinea Agreement during your interrogation"

Keeping his eyes closed Levi complies, standing up he begins to walk as the men keep their guns trained on him.

After taking a few steps, he stops and without opening his eyes, he speaks;

"The loudspeaker"

Eren looks at him, dumbfounded.

"Earthquake. Panic. 3:14"

He opens his eyes and looks directly at Eren.

"The answer is behind you"

Eren continues looking at him, trying to decipher the words he is saying."

Scene Change to Attack Academy

Throughout Attack Academy the students try to recover from the attack, wrapping themselves in blankets, sleeping, and thinking about what just happened.

Reiner sits in front of a fresh mound of dirt, barely able to hold back his tears.

In the infirmary students are visiting their injured friends. Mikasa is applying a cast on the leg of the man Historia was trapped with.

"It's Eldia!" calls out a student.

On the school grounds multiple helicopters are flying while some are landing.

"This is the Eldian Lunar Orbit Army"

"I repeat: This is the Eldian Lunar Orbit Army"

Several students crowd around the helicopters.

"Thank you so much, Senator Weilman!" says Hange as she shakes hands with a man who has a thick beard and moustache.

"The physics teacher, Mr. Smith, and I were the only adults here. I'm so relieved!" she continues.

"Not at all. This is nothing" responds the Senator in a voice that is too loud.

"Paradis is an ally of Eldia after all" he continues.

As this is occurring, Eren, Historia, Annie, Bertolt and Mina arrive at the school.

"School... It feels like it's been years" says Mina in a soft, sad voice.

"We were going to classes just yesterday..." responds Bertolt wistfully.

Eren and Historia have their own place in mind, "The shrine..." they say in unison.

When they realize what they said they briefly look at each other and turn away blushing a bit.

"What about the shrine?" asks Annie.

"W-well..." stutters out Historia.

Annie glares at the two disapproving of their timidity.

"It's Eren!" yells out Connie, pulling the students out of their thoughts.

"Look, it's Eren!" yells out a male student.

"He's alive" yells a female student.

All of the students gather around Eren, overwhelming him with the surge of popularity.

"Thank goodness!"

"Eren!"

"Thanks a lot Yeager!"

"You're the best!"

"When did you become a mecha pilot?"

"You were so cool!"

"The return of the hero" says Hitch dismissively.

"I just... You're welcome..." is all Eren can get out.

"Eren! Here's my email!" says a female student as she reaches over to him with a paper.

"Thanks, Eren! Thank you so much!"

"C'mon, don't cry!"

"Yeah, we're safe now!"

"But... But..."

"I see... We're..." Eren thinks to himself.

Eren looks around to see Marlo shaking a soldier's hand and Mina greeting her friends.

"We're safe for now, but for how long?" he realizes.

But what he doesn't notice is Reiner glaring at him from behind.

Scene Change

Inside an Eldian military facility Levi is tied to a chair while being interrogated by Flagon Turret.

"In the New Guinea conflict two years ago you eliminated a battalion five thousand strong by yourself" says Turret.

Levi ignores the man's comments, instead eyeing around the room, formulating an escape plan.

"That got you the moniker 'Humanity's Strongest Soldier'. I didn't think you'd be so short" he continues.

Levi continues to ignore him, instead feeling for the screws of the chair he is tied to.

Scene Change

"The power of the highest GDP in the world in action! They're the policemen of the world! The country of freedom! We can always count on Eldia!" Marlo praises Eldia to his classmates who are eating.

"Ah to feel the touch of polymer carbon cermet armor! I could die now!" says Connie in regards to the Eldian tanks.

Meanwhile

Several female students are cleansing themselves in shower houses.

"Ah, I'm coming back to life! From dirty rag to woman, just add water!" moans Hitch.

"Hey, said you'd confess if we survived" whispers a girl.

"But..." says her red-haired target shyly.

"Just go for it! If you're thinking about it, you should just do it!" advises Hange.

"See? She's speaking from experience" says the first girl.

""But Hange doesn't have a boyfriend!" retorts Hannah.

"How did you know?" gasps Hange, shocked.

The girls laugh at this exchange.

Outside Historia and Mikasa sit on the roof, discussing the recent events.

"Eren says he doesn't really know either. He just got in the robot and it worked" recaps Mikasa.

"Yeah..." responds Historia, not really listening.

"He sure hid his game well" continues Mikasa.

"Yeah..." repeats Historia, still not paying attention.

Realizing that Historia isn't paying attention, Mikasa decides to change the subject.

"What's up between you and Eren?"

Historia flinches at this question, dropping her spoon into her food.

"Nothing" she responds after a long silence.

Mikasa cannot help but show a bit of surprise at this.

"Nothing at all" says Historia sadly.

"That's why..."

Meanwhile, Eren is dealing with his own problems.

In a medical lab Eren cuts a small slit into his index finger.

He drips a blood drop into an analyzer.

The analyzer analyses for a few seconds and shows the student profile of Eren.

"Temperature and pulse look normal" claims Annie.

"See? Nothing wrong" says Bertolt reassuringly.

"But you can't call this normal" responds Eren.

As he says this he shows his finger, which heals the cut he made in seconds, leaving no scar.

"We should talk to a doctor" suggests Mina.

Bert agrees with Mina, "The army should have medics-"

"You'd better not" interrupts Annie, causing the boys to turn to her.

"They're gonna just turn you into a lab rat" she warns.

"But..." says Mina, not sure of the best course of action.

"Adults never play fair" she concludes somberly, seemingly speaking from experience.

"Annie... What..." starts Eren.

He is cut off by a sickening but feeling in his body.

He starts breathing heavily, concerning his friends.

"What's wrong, Eren?" asks Bert in confusion as he begins to sweat.

Eren doesn't respond and continues his abnormal breathing. After a few seconds of this he begins to glare.

Bert grabs Eren's shoulders, shaking him to snap him out of his daze.

"Hey! Eren! Eren!"

"Eren?" questions Mina in fear and concern.

Eren continues to spasm, grimacing as he closes his eyes in pain.

A purple light emanates from his face. He looks up, revealing glowing crosses on his face.

Eren lunges forward, his mouth open wide revealing fangs.

He knocks Bertolt to the ground and tries to bite into his neck.

"Stop Eren!" shrieks Bertolt as he struggles to keep his friend away, pushing him at the neck.

"Eren?!" exclaims Mina, fearful at the display.

Eren does not hear his friends, continuing his attack on Bertolt.

"What's wrong with you?!" yells Annie as she rushes towards the fight.

Eren lunges again, nearly biting Bertolt.

He is prevented from doing so by Annie punching him in the face, knocking him face down in to the floor next to Mina.

The three students stare at their friend in shock, confused at his actions.

"Eren..." says Bertolt.

Eren turns himself onto his back and stares at the ceiling with a wide-eyed look.

"What... was I... doing?" asks Eren, similarly shocked.

"You attacked him like a vampire!" answers Annie, concern in her voice.

Eren flashes back to the day before, remembering how he attacked Levi at the beach.

"The same thing happened earlier" he tells his friends.

"I'm not human anymore!" he proclaims, becoming increasingly panicked.

"Who knows what I could do to you all?!" he asks rhetorically in fear of his friend's safety.

"C-Calm down Eren!" says Bertolt nervously.

"But..." yells Eren.

"You saved us using that power Eren!" reminds Mina

"But I'm..." says Eren quietly.

Annie looks at Eren, unsure of how to reassure him.

The group is interrupted by the sound of something crashing into the door.

A moment later Hange opens the door, holding her head with a bright smile on her face.

"Eren, you there?" she asks.

She pauses, slightly confused by the group's positions but continues anyway.

"Do you have a moment?"

"Sure, what is it?" asks Eren, trying not to show his previous panic.

"Senator Weilman wants to talk to you"

"Senator Weilman? With me?" asks Eren skeptically.

Eren walks over to the office with Hange.

On the way he glances at the Valvrave unit, which was currently hanging from a crane, paying special attention to the logo.

At the Office

"Welcome, Eren Yeager!" greets Senator Weilman, extending his hand to shake.

"Nice to meet you, uh... Weilman" responds Eren nervously.

"Senator" whispers Hange.

"Senator..." repeats Eren.

"First time talking with a politician?" guesses the Senator.

"I can't be more frightening than the Marleyan forces you defeated, right?" he reasons.

Eren merely looks at him in response.

A moment later Eren, Hange and Senator Weilman look at a computer screen, which is currently showing the video of Eren fighting the Titan units.

"What's this?" asks Eren.

"These comments showed us that you guys were still resisting" answers the Senator.

"Who uploaded it?" asks Hange.

She looks at the top of the screen to see the uploader.

"Coconut?"

Meanwhile

In his hacker cave Armin types in his username, "Coconut" and adds more comments.

Is that one of our students?" asks Hange.

"Maybe" answers Eren, smiling internally, knowing full well who it is.

"You should write a comment" suggests Weilman.

"The whole world's worried about the safety of you all"

"But..." says an unsure Eren.

"Maybe the people of Paradis will see it too!" reassures Hange with a smile.

Eren reads some of the comments and decides to write his own;

                            This is Eren Yeager.

                             We're fine.

                             The Eldian army saved us

He presses enter publishing his comment. Within seconds he starts getting replies.

"You're alive"

"We were so worried!"

"I'm glad I stayed up for this!"

Just like that the screen starts flooding with dozens of comments giving Eren good will.

"Look at this! That high school boy's still alive!" says a woman to her friend.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"He's the same age as us!" comments a student.

"That's awesome!" replies another student.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"We've just received some great news! The young high school boy left a comment!" says the announcer of "HEAD LINE NEWS".

The title of the report is "EREN COME BACK ALIVE!"

"Hey, Eren! Come see us play some time!" says a player in a stadium. The crowd cheer for him.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Eren looks at the comments dispassionately, not sure what to make of these people suddenly acknowledging his existence.

"Whoa! Isn't that the top scorer?" yells Hange, clasping Eren's shoulder.

"It is. Best-seller writers, top athletes, and even our president are all your friends" responds Senator Weilman, somewhat hastily.

"AMAZING!" shouts Hange.

"You've got 700 million friends!" she tells Eren,

Eren doesn't respond, instead he glances to the side, realizing that he is merely becoming an icon.

"The high school boy who stood alone against the dreadful Marleyan army. People call you 'Paradis' Greatest Hope'"

"How does that make you feel?" asks the Senator.

"But I..." is all Eren can get out.

"You're the only gleam of hope left for Paradis. You're a symbol of the light against Marleyan tyranny."

"Are you telling me to fight?" asks Eren, dumbfounded.

"No. Run" responds Weilman.

Eren and Hange look at him in shock at this proposal.

"That was only a single, lone squadron. If they sent their main force from the Sphere over, we'd stand no chance" he explains.

"So we're running away?" asks Hange.

"I'm neither a soldier nor a brave man, but I have seen some horrible things" explains Weilman.

"Not to mention that running away isn't the same as losing. You only truly lose by dying. So as long you're alive, you win" he reasons.

Eren looks at him angrily, hating the idea of running away rather than fighting, no matter the reason. Before he can give his opinion he is interrupted by the Senator.

"Will you help us, Eren Yeager? For the sake of everyone's survival"

Realizing that fighting will result in the deaths of more people than escaping, he agrees to the proposal.

"I will" he says, accepting but not happily.

Meanwhile

Back in the holding centre, Levi is slowly and inconspicuously removing a screw from the chair he is tied to.

"It's just nutrients" says Turret as he holds up a needle.

"It's be a violation of the treaty not to give you food"

In spite of these reassuring words he has a sadistic smile on his face.

As he brings the needle closer to Levi, Levi pulls out the screw from his chair and flicks it towards the lights, shattering the glass.

"What?" exclaims Turret as he looks up at the shattered lights.

A small piece of glass falls into Levi's tied left hand,

He stands up and delivers a spin kick to the side of Turret's head.

He pulls apart the ropes binding him and dodges the shots fired at him.

"The light! Turn on the lights!" shouts one of the soldiers.

He is silenced by Levi cutting him across the nape of his neck using the piece of glass, killing him instantly.

Levi runs toward the nearest soldier and kicks him in the head before stealing his gun.

Levi systematically guns down all of the men in the room.

"Freedom acquired" he says to himself.

"Initiating plan D7"

Scene Change to the Marleyan Fleet.

"Thank you for selecting me, Warchief" says Furlan.

"Please allow us to participate in the reconquest of Module 77" he continues.

"You seem to be lacking someone" comments the Warchief.

Furlan looks down in sadness at his comment.

"There must be an explanation" he reasons.

"Levi would never..."

"The fact remains that he caused damage to the army" analyses Pieck.

Furlan does not respond, instead feeling disappointment at his friend's betrayal.

The Warchief scoffs at this display.

"I'm not an enemy of friendship" he tells Furlan.

Furlan looks at him, shocked.

"The Valvrave is our top priority right now. I will overlook any irregularities during this operation. Be sure to capture the Valvrave" instructs the Warchief.

He stands up and concludes his briefing.

"Blitzendegen" he says.

"Blitzendegen" repeats Furlan and his teammates, saluting. (The AoT salute)

Scene Change to Attack Academy

Evacuations are taking place.

"Line up by class!" instructs Hange.

"Make sure that your student ID neighbours are here too!"

Several trains get loaded, transporting civilians towards the evacuation zones.

"Everything's gonna be okay, so follow the soldier's instructions!" instructs Eren through a speaker.

"Eren can we really escape safely?" asks a female student.

"Of course. I'll protect everyone with that robot" he reassures.

"Then it's gonna be okay!" comments a student.

"We're counting on you Eren!"

Nearby Historia, Annie and Mina are wheeling an injured student.

"Why is he cooperating?" asks Annie, confused at Eren's uncharacteristic behaviour.

"To avoid unnecessary fighting" replies Historia.

"That's so much like him" she says wistfully.

"You know him well" comments Annie.

"I'd usually think of him as someone who wants to fight" she continues.

Historia looks at Annie and turns away, embarrassed at how much she knows Eren and still upset about his density.

"Historia and Eren have known each other since they were kids" says Mina.

Annie gasps at this revelation, unintentionally giving Historia a death glare.

Within a few hours Attack Academy is almost completely devoid of students. Hitch makes a final round to gather students.

While grumbling about having to do extra work she sees two students, a red-haired female looking bashful and a tall male.

"You there" she calls towards the blushing couple, who look at her embarrassedly.

"Get going already" she demands.

"Right" replies Franz

"To the first cable car platform" she clarifies.

Knocking on the student counsel's door she enters.

"Where's Marlo?" she asks the students there.

"The President is on the phone" replies Rico.

"On the phone? Now?" Hitch asks incredulously.

"He's busy!" retorts Rico.

"Right. Head over to the cable cars already" commands Hitch as she exits the room.

"Who died and made her queen?" asks Rico rhetorically.

"She's always like that" responds Ian.

"The enemy is on our doorstep! You have to get out of that room!" instructs Marlo over the phone, getting increasingly frustrated.

"Are you even listening?"

Armin ignores him and continues to work on his computer.

"There gonna leave us behind!"

"You're the most annoying stepbrother ever" says Armin.

"This is war! We can't—"

Armin cuts him off by hanging up.

"Huh? Hey! Hello? Hello?!"

"Don't worry! There's space for everyone! Eldia will help all of us! Don't push!" shouts Eren over the loudspeaker.

After giving his instructions Eren realizes something and looks at the loudspeaker.

"The loudspeaker" said Levi earlier.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"The loudspeaker..." he says aloud.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Scene Change to the Holding Facility

Levi sitting on his own, making plans and thinking about the most likely course of events.

"If they want the escape to go smoothly, they will use a student"

"Influence, Idealism, Obedience"

"The answer to that is..."

"That brat, Eren Yeager"

Levi is cut off from his plotting by an alarm going off.

"The Marleyan prisoner has escaped!"

"He's 160cm tall, raven haired, male, 17 years old!"

"Apprehend him on sight!"

"I repeat! The Marleyan prisoner has escaped!"

"It seriously took them fifteen minutes to notice?" scoffs Levi.

"Proficiency level E."

Scene Change to an Eldian Ship

"It's just one boy!"

"Corner him!" says the Commander.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Multiple armed troops run through the facility, searching for Levi.

Levi throws himself off a ledge with a wire in his hand, catching the attention of a few soldiers.

"A student!" one of them calls.

"It's Levi!" says another as they proceed to fire at his falling figure.

"Shoot! Shoot!"

Levi continues to fall, making no motion to dodge the bullets.

The wire comes loose, setting off explosive on every floor of the facility.

Levi kicks off the ledge of a floor and rolls in midair to the side, dodging the explosions.

"He broke out?!" yells Eldian Commander Pixis.

"All units to arms! Send in the backup too!"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A squadron of soldier wielding flamethrowers walk down the hall towards Levi, making an impassable wall of fire.

Levi presses a button, closing a blast door and opening an airlock, sucking the soldiers into space.

Multiple spacecrafts fly towards the module, firing lasers at Levi's position.

The lasers cause an explosion but multiple missiles come out of it, homing in and destroying the spacecrafts.

"Impossible!" exclaims Commander Pixis

"I sent two hundred after him! That's a whole company!"

"Have you forgotten his nickname?" asks his second-in-command.

"Humanity's Strongest Soldier..."

"My physical and mental capacities are what they should be" diagnoses Levi.

"There are no anomalies"

"That brat was the irregularity!"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Scene Change to Attack Academy

Eren is making a final round of the school, checking for any stragglers.

"Is there anyone still here?" he calls on the handheld loudspeaker.

"It's time to leave!"

Eren stops when he sees pictures of him and his friends on a board.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Outside the School

"Um, Annie!" calls Mina.

Annie looks over to her.

"Thank you" says Mina, shyly.

"For what?" asks Annie.

"Back then..."

Mina flashes back to when they escaped from the Marleyan soldiers.

"You dragged me along when I was just standing there in shock"

"I should be thanking you" retorts Annie, giving a rare smile.

Mina is surprised at this statement.

"You were the only one who treated me as a normal person" says Annie, looking away, somewhat embarrassed.

Mina looks at her and gives a reassuring smile.

"That's what friends do!"

"This might be the last time we see it" says Bertolt fearfully as he looks at the school.

"Stop being so gloomy" retorts Hitch.

"B-but..." stutters out Bert.

Historia turns to look at the school for perhaps the last time, however she is pulled from her thoughts when she sees a tall, muscular figure in the halls.

"There's someone inside!" she calls out.

"It must be Eren. He said he'd look for anyone still there" reasons Mikasa.

No, it wasn't him!" proclaims Historia, stubbornly.

Without a second thought she runs towards the school.

"Hey! Historia!" Mikasa calls after her.

Scene Change to Space

On the Eldian ship multiple spacecrafts are taking off, flying towards the module.

"We will now dock at Module 77!" proclaims Commander Pixis.

"But we still haven't caught the prisoner!" reminds his assistant.

"We can't delay the evacuation operation any further!" he retorts.

With that the Eldian ship enters the module.

Scene Change to an Abandoned Classroom

"Next is an earthquake..." Eren says to himself before laughing at the absurdity of it all.

"But we're in space" he reasons.

He is pulled from his thoughts by a voice from behind him.

"Eren Yeager, that you?"

Eren turns around to see a tall, muscular, blond boy glaring at him.

"You're... Reiner?"

"Hand over that robot" he demands.

Eren looks at him surprised at what he is demanding.

"I'll avenge Marcel!"

He walks towards Eren threateningly.

"I don't care where the rest of you wall yourselves off"

"You can't do that! It's--"

Reiner grabs Eren by the collar and raises his voice.

"So you wanna hoard all the glory, huh?!"

"You grab me like that, my clothes are gonna rip!" shouts Eren before catching himself.

"We're trying to survive!" he shouts at Reiner.

"STOP MAKING EXCUSES!" shouts Reiner.

Meanwhile

Historia is running through the hallways, desperately trying to find the student she saw.

"He was somewhere around here..." she think aloud.

She turns and runs towards a still illuminated room.

She opens the door and sees a stack of boxes with a small entrance cut out.

Quietly she enters the space and moves a makeshift curtain, revealing a blond boy typing on a computer.

After a few seconds of trying Armin successfully hacks into a network point.

"I got in!" he proclaims.

"No signs of life! No heat source detected!" says the voices on the channel.

"Gate secured"

Historia gasps at what is being said

"Update security level"

"Reconfirm"

"Path clear"

"The path is clear"

"Were we worried for nothing?" questions the Eldian Commander.

As the Eldian ship moves forward, Levi pulls his trap.

He pulls on a wire, releasing smoke to surround the Eldian ship.

"Smoke? They're attacking!"

"Fall back! I repeat! Fall back!"

The ship crashes into the walls, shaking the entire module.

Back With Eren

The shaking seperates Reiner's grip from Eren, who quickly realizes what is happening.

"An earthquake?"

"No way!"

Back With Historia

Armin desperately tries to keep his screen from falling as several things fall around him including a toy that makes noise.

The toy makes him look back, causing him to panic when he realizes he's not alone.

Back With the Evacuating Students

"You're stranded?!" shouts Senator Weilman.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Yes. We can't guarantee a safe evacuation" says the Commander.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"So we're locked in?" realizes the Senator.

He is interrupted from his call by the sound of panicking students.

"Is it true that we're stuck here?" calls Hitch.

The panicking students attack the soldiers with questions, none of which are answered.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"What happened?" asks Reiner as he looks down on the rowdy evacuees.

"Panic" says Eren with realization.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"It's the Marleyan prisoner!" Connie claims to Bertolt and Mina.

"Calm down!" says Mina.

"Y-yeah, the prisoner is alone!" reasons Bertolt despite sweating buckets at the moment.

"He's also not your average guy!" counters Connie.

In the sea of hysterical students Hange tries to maintain order.

"Everyone, calm down! Don't run!"

Hurriedly he looks at the clock and when he does he sees the time, '3:14'.

Reiner looks back and sees a short figure in the doorway, seemingly recognizing him.

"You!" he exclaims as he runs towards the figure.

With a harrowing look on his face Eren repeats the last things he heard Levi say to him.

"3:14... The answer is... behind me"

"It was him he told me!" shouts Connie as he points towards the room Eren is in.

Behind Eren, Reiner falls to the ground, and Levi takes a few steps into the room.

Eren turns around and sees the boy standing before him.

"Plan D7 complete" says Levi.

"You're... the answer?" gasps Eren.
