Chapter 3: White Lion

Quartz and Gunhuer hid in the bushes on opposite sides, a grazing elk munch on whatever grass it could find.

Atreus found himself in the middle of the two Godlings, his eyes glowing as he focused on their prey. It was so much harder to hunt without a bow.

His make shift one to commedate for it would have to work, the arrow he made with a sharp stake he found on the forest floor.

"What I need you to do, is when I shoot it, you aim for it's most valuable spots. Quartz, you aim for the throat, Gunhuer, you jump on its back and aim for the back of its neck. If we get it just right, you guys will be feasting like kings!"

Atreus took a deep breath, before he fired the arrow. The elk let out a loud bellow of pain as the arrow stabbed into the base of its neck.

Quartz and Gunhuer were quick to jump to their respective targets. The elk bucked and tried to throw them of, but Atreus ran up, and jumped, hitting and pushing the stake further into the elks neck.

Quartz and Gunhuer held on, and after a few swings, the elk finally fell, shaking the ground a tiny bit from the force.

Gunhuer smiled. "We did it!"

Quartz smiled, before looking to the other's.

"How do we get it back to camp?"

Ah... didn't think about that...

Scene 2

Gunnr sat in her usual look out spot, her pelt allowing her to blend in with the pine tree almost seamlessly.

For days now she's stood on watch, tired, yes, but she couldn't afford to rest.

But still, even for a powerful Valkyrie general like herself, even she found her eyes growing heavy.

She closed them, and could feel herself relaxing on the branch, her wings huddled next to her as her head slowly dipped down. Okay, maybe a little nap would be-

SNAP

Gunnr shot awake, her wings opening in alarm. She scanned the ground, once, twice, and it wasn't until the fourth time she saw the creature.

A white lion crawled from bush to bush, armor from a kingdom Gunnr wasn't familiar with strapped on him.

Gunnr's heart raced, but she stood still. What was a lion doing in this snow?

The white lion carefully crept closer to the camp. Gunnr's pelt bristled as she readied herself to ambush the large predator.

"You were right, we definitely are gonna feast like kings!" Gunnr's and the lion's attention turned as Quartz's voice could be heard.

"Yep! Me and my dad were experts at catching them, he could take one down all by himself!"

Atreus bounded through the snowy pass, carrying what looked to be a large peice of meat with him.

The young tom caught the lion's attention, and before Gunnr could call out a warning, the white lion jumped out, letting out a furious roar like Gunnr had heard the past moon or so.

Gunhuer and Quartz stood frozen, Atreus went to drop the meat, but before he could let out a scream, the lion pounced forward, landing over the small tom, growling and baring his large fangs and claws.

Gunnr let out a battle cry, taking off and flying towards the lion, the sound of the other Children inside the camp hurrying to see what was wrong.
