#27

I stood, staring at the tall trees that surrounded me, the moon shined, illuminating the shadows of the leaves as the wind blew it from side to side.

The chilly evening air made me shiver, I hunched my shoulders, and with chattering teeth, I blew on my cold hands to at least create warmth.

Where the hell was I?  I walked forward to try and get my bearings.  I didn't remember coming here at all.

I kept strolling round the forest, maybe I would find someone. The place was very quiet, the only sound made was of my footsteps as I walked. Not even the chirps  of birds could be heard.

I stopped walking to listen, and I became frightened,  the place was freaking silent.  The howl of the wind wasn't heard and the sound of the leaves blowing, stopped.

Just as soon as I realized that, my hand exploded. The tingles where powerful,  it spread rapidly to my arms and went down to my feet.

I had never felt anything like this before,  my heart pounded uncontrollably, the cold evaporated leaving me in a sweaty mess. My legs couldn't hold me anymore and I fell.

I stared up at the night sky, only to realize that there was no moon, the stars stared back at me as if to mock me. Why I even thought that? I didn't know.  I was scared.

A thick fog started to surround me, it got so thick that I couldn't see pass three feet. But just as fast as it came, it started to disappear.

What is going on please,  I was scared,  I shivered. Not of cold, but of  fear.

As the fog disappeared,  a ripple of terror gripped me so hard that my whole body vibrated from the shock. What flowed through my body was way passed tingles, it wasn't even an itch. I was on fire, from my head down to the tip of my toe, felt the heat.

Staring down at me from a tree not too far away was a woman, if I could call her that.

She had a white face, I don't mean a pale face. No, I mean it was white. She was perched on a branch, sitting with legs crossed.

She held what looked like a hand fan, only that it was sharp on the edges. In her other hand was a long staff with a skull perched on it.

She had a black crown on her head with golden designs on it.

"What could turn a warrior weak?" A very husky ghost like voice whispered.

Her voice sounded like it came from my head, it echoed loud and clear in my head, and she wasn't moving her mouth.

"What could make a heart sink?" She whispered again.

"What could make the hands bleed" she finished,  and jumped down from the tree, landing a few feet in front of me.

I screamed as loud as my vocal cords could go. And took to my heel.  My legs were boosted with an energy that was unknown, and I ran even faster than I could see.  It wasn't natural, but I didn't care, as long as I got far from that woman, I was grateful.

With a speed like that of a lightning bolt, I expected to at least go far, but as I turned my back to look at the woman, I saw her laughing and walking towards me.

I was fast, very fast. But she didn't even need to run.

I used every energy I had, and increased my pace. I ran and ran. But each time I stole a glance at her, she remained behind me.

She was getting close. No matter how much I ran, it made no difference.  Every of my bones screamed at me to run, but I was getting tired.

Everything in me screamed not to turn around, but I had to know if I made progress.

As I glanced back, a very  large and white face, came not even more than an inch away from my face. Her ugly teeth were just a breath away from my own.

I screamed and stumbled, falling down on the ground.  Her hands were stretched towards me.

But before it could reach me, a glass wall appeared out of nowhere, separating us.

Then a loud voice echoed from behind me.

"Jade! Run, come this way now! Follow me"

I turned around and saw the woman in a white dress, already backing me and running.  I got up and with the remaining strength I had, I followed her, I ran to safety.

I fell to the floor, shivering in fright. What the hell was that. Oh my god, what type of dream was that. It didn't seem like a dream to me, it felt so real.

I didn't realize I was on the floor crying, until the headmaster carried me up to the bench. He held me weirdly, while tapping my back, I guess it was his way of comforting people.

"It's  okay, you are safe," he kept saying, but I couldn't help but think about the woman in my dream. She terrified me.

We sat in silence for a while, before he told me to stand and follow him out.

We walked in silence and came to a halt at a door. My brain and attention was still in the dream.

We entered and I was met with rows of beds in what looked like a hospital room.

We went straight to the office and met with the man I met when I first came here. I remember he called himself Healer.

"Hello JJ, how are you doing," he greeted,  but I could only nod my head.

I was offered a seat, while the headmaster stood behind me. My thoughts were jumbled, I had never had a dream that felt terrifying real.

After a while of silence, with them staring at themselves, the healer finally spoke.

"Are you alright JJ?"

I looked at him, ready to say yes, but my damn broke, and I burst into tears. He hurried towards me and took me in his arms hugging me in comfort.

He caressed my hair and whispered softly into my ear.

"Everything will be fine JJ,  we are here for you okay, don't be scared. You're safe, now take deep breaths.

Yes, that is right,  in and out." He said, as I followed every word he spoke.

He hugged me for some time, before I was calm enough to speak.

"Thank you so much," I said to him. I totally needed that. It felt so good to be hugged by him, I had never felt safer.

Is that how it felt to be hugged by a father? If that is how it felt, I definitely missed a lot.

"I'm ok, thank you"

He smiled softly at me, and nodded at the headmaster. I forgot he was even here. I blushed, feeling embarrassed suddenly.

The healer laughed at my expression. While the headmaster looked everywhere,  except me.

"So do you mind telling us what happened?" He asked.

"Oh,  I'm sorry for disturbing you, but it was nothing.  It's not really a big deal." I said, but the big scowl on the headmaster's face and the way the healers mouth turned down, screamed they didn't believe me.

"Don't be scared to trust us, we can help you,  just tell us,  what's the harm."

He was right,  it was just a stupid dream anyway, what's the harm."

"So it was a weird dream I had."

"But you told me you didn't have any dream," the headmaster asked.

"Yeah, that's what I thought, I don't know why, I had no memory of it as at the time you asked me."

As I thought about it, I wondered why he even asked in the first place,  why did he think I would have a dream.

He nodded his head at me to continue.

"So it was just a scary dream about a woman chasing me."

"Ok, tell us more, give us in detail,  don't Leave anything out."

"It was a scary forest, and everything was still and quiet,  then I saw this scary woman on a tree, she had a white face and ugly teeth.

And she started saying some weird stuffs like an-"

"What did she say," headmaster interrupted me.

"Okay, calm down, I am the one with the dream here.

She rambled about, a warrior and heart and blood,  I can't really recall it, but those three words were present.

She stated it in form of a question,  but I was too scared to memorize it.

Then she started chasing me and I ran."

"Hmm, is that all?" He asked,  and I nodded my head.

I don't know why, but I had a deep feeling in my bones that stopped me from saying anything about the woman in white.

It was stupid,  but it was a gut feeling, so I didn't mention about her.

The headmaster looked at me, not convinced at all. I could tell he wanted confronting me about it, but changed his mind.

After their staring contest, he looked at me.
"It is just a normal dream,  you shouldn't worry about it." But I didn't know if he was trying to convince me or himself, because he looked kind of worried."

"Yeah, I told you. It's just a weird dream."

But as we all stared at each other,  I knew and they knew, that it wasn't.
