Chapter 1

"Hope's Peak College Program... designed for students to major in their talents or something related so they can really hone their talent!" You chuckled to yourself as you mocked the college a little bit as you drove to the very large campus.

It was like a miniature town, with stores, lots of dorms, and a LOT of classrooms! The buildings were also many floors high and were very high-tech, as expected from a prestigious school.

"I feel really stupid going here..." You mumbled to yourself. Your talent was okay but you were sure it didn't compare to other people's talents. You were the Ultimate Forensic Scientist, which meant that you took evidence from crime scenes and analyzed it in a lab.

You earned your title because you had helped solve a very complicated murder case that involved three accomplices and showed almost no motive until you found out the culprit had placed bombs inside the bodies of each of the accomplices, so they had to do it or they'd be blown to bits. You had to call a bomb expert to defuse the bombs before it was safe to surgically remove at the hospital, but once that was done you really had enough proof to get the culprit sent to jail for life without perole.

But other than that one moment of glory in your life... you hadn't really done anything special. You were otherwise an average college student majoring in forensics.

"Well... let's see here... my dorm building is the Eagel Hall, it says to take a left here..." You thought aloud, turning in your car. Today was move-in day for all freshmen so you had all your things in the back of your car, but you were nervous. What if your roommate was a really snooty person? The people at Hope's Peak College Program were said to have really colorful personalities, whether they were good or bad.

"Ah! Eagel Hall!" You smiled once you saw the large sign that labelled the dorm building and pulled into the parking lot in front of the dorm building. Because of how large the college was, each building needed a separate parking lot that was rather large and the parking lot was already rather full and busy.

You pulled into a spot as close to the building as you could, sighing in relief as it wasn't TOO far. You made sure you were neatly in the parking space before turning off the engine to your car and getting out, taking a few smaller boxes of your things first. You figured you might need to walk a while to find your dorm so you'd make the first trip the lightest. With that, you started walking inside the dorm building.

"Let's see if I can find dorm C314..." You thought aloud, "They said that A dorms are on the first floor, B on the second and C on the third so that should mean I'm on the third floor..."

You were in a large lobby area that had a community kitchen as well as a TV, a few tables with plenty of chairs, some beanbags, some couches... it looked rather comfortable! You smiled a little at the thought of the college being rather cozy but it was quickly replaced with nerves as you walked down a hallway, but you didn't have to go far because you saw two elevators. You pressed the call button and waited, and a few seconds later one of the doors opened. You walked inside and pushed the button for the third floor, the doors slowly closing.

The elevator started moving upwards to the third floor, and from being so nervous you felt slightly motion sick. You ignored it and soon the elevator came to a halt and the doors opened, ending your temporary discomfort. You stepped out into the hallway to find a rather expansive but simple layout of dorms.

You looked to the left to see dorms C309 and C310, so you figured your dorm was rather close. You walked down that hallway and sure enough, there was your dorm down the hall. You tested to see if it was unlocked but found it locked, so you figured your mystery roommate hadn't shown up yet. Shrugging, you took out your dorm keys that had been issued on orientation day {which you couldn't seem to remember anything from!} and opened the door.

You hadn't seen the inside of your dorm, but the sight wasn't exactly inviting. It was very plain, only having two beds with identical dark grey blankets and white pillows, and at the foot of each bed had a black table with a desk chair neatly put by the table. There were two small wardrobes but on the left side there was the addition of a mini fridge with a microwave on top of it. Because of this you chose the left side of the room, figuring you could sit at the desk and easily get some food at the same time because they were so close.

You placed your boxes on the left bed to mark it as yours and opened them, placing some of your clothes on the bed to further mark it as your territory in case your roommate came while you were getting more boxes. These boxes had your clothes and you took out a Criminal Minds T-shirt, a CSI sweatshirt, a Blue Bloods hoodie, a Monk sweatshirt, and a House T-shirt. You were probably too obsessed with detective shows {not to mention you had more merch from other shows}, but you didn't care. Well, House wasn't exactly a detective show, it was more like a medical mystery show but it was still interesting.

Chuckling to yourself, you walked back out to the parking lot and to your car. You opened the back and took out more boxes, then you closed and locked the back so no weirdos would steal your car while you were inside and started your way back to your dorm. These boxes were bigger and heavier but not too impossible, but the journey to your dorm was a little longer. Once you got to your dorm you noticed the door was open, making you raise a brow. You distinctly remebered closing and locking it behind you...

Opening the door, you were greeted with your mystey roommate unpacking boxes that were stacked on the table to the right. At least you'd properly claimed your side! Your roommate wore a white button-up shirt and black pants, and he had navy blue hair. He honestly looked pretty attractive... but you weren't gonna just be fooled by appearances. He could possibly be an asshole!

"Didn't the college say they'd pair same sex people in dorms...?" You thought aloud as you reminded yourself of the college policy.

"Ah! O-oh, I didn't see you there... Yes, the college did say that so maybe they ran out of room or this was a mistake..." the boy shyly concluded.

"Well, I guess we're stuck with it now," You shrugged, "What's your name?"

"I'm Shuichi Saihara... I'm the Ultimate Detective..." he introduced himself.

"Woah, Ultimate Detective? I'm (Y/N) (L/N), the Ultimate Forensic Scientist! That's so cool we have talents that work together!" You giggled.

"And that explains why you have so much detective show merchandise," Shuichi joked a little, his eyes going to your shirts showing off how much of a fan you were, making you blush slightly because it sort of made you feel like a weeb but for detective shows instead of anime.

"Detective shows are super inaccurate but super fun to watch!" You huffed.

"Heh..." Shuichi awkwardly chuckled.

"Do you watch any detective shows?" You asked, starting to feel excited.

"I watch some detective shows but not as many as you," Shuichi admitted with a small smile.

"You do?! Which ones are your favorites?!" You gasped.

"Ah... I mostly watch Criminal Minds, but I also watch Monk sometimes... I've thought about getting into Blue Bloods," Shuichi smiled shyly.

"You should do it, it's such a good show!!" You giggled, "...I'd love to stay and talk but I need to get my boxes in here some time this millennium!"

"I-if you don't mind, maybe I could help?" Shuichi looked away sheepishly.

"What about your other boxes?" You noticed Shuichi didn't have very many boxes.

"I don't have anything else. I don't pack much, so..." Shuichi trailed off.

"Oh! Well, uhh... if you want to help you can, but I don't wanna bother you especially when you could be unpacking," You commented.

"It's fine," Shuichi shook his head in denial of it bothering him.

"Well... okay then. Let's get going, I guess," You lead the way out the door, Shuichi closing and locking the door behind you two. Both of you made your way out to the parking lot and then to your car, where you took out the final two loads of boxes and handed one to Shuichi, then took the other one and closed and locked your car behind you.

"It's not too heavy for you, right?" You asked as you began walking.

"No, it's okay," Shuichi promised, no strain in his voice which was a good sign.

The journey back up took longer because of the weight of the boxes, but once you finally got there you put the boxes down with a happy sigh, "I can't believe I packed so much crap!"

Shuichi chuckled a little and set the boxes he was holding next to yours and then sat on his bed. You took a small breather before continuing to unpack your clothes, putting them all on your bed first before putting them away in the wardrobe. You noticed Shuichi was also unpacking, and there was silence amongst you both as you just continued to unpack, a general pile of boxes getting piled up by the door. However, once you finished unpacking you noticed how tidy all of Shuichi's things looked while yours was sort of sloppily done. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't perfect and done with a meticulous hand, despite that being vital for your talent.

"Woah... you're so neat!" You commented, feeling a bit of jealousy.

"Th-thanks," Shuichi blushed a little bit at the compliment before turning his attention to the boxes, "Um... do you need the boxes for anything or are you okay if I throw them away?"

"You can throw 'em away," You shrugged.

"Okay..." Shuichi picked up the first cardboard box and collapsed it, doing the same for all the boxes so they were flat until they were all flat and then he left the dorm, holding the now pancake flat boxes under his arm. It was a few minutes until he returned empty-handed.

"Welcome back," You chuckled a little.

"Thanks, I guess," Shuichi smiled a bit and sat down at his desk that now had a pencil holder full of pencils as well as quite a few spiral notebooks, erasers, pens, loose leaf paper... it was like something you'd find for an aesthetic picture off of Google.

"I'm bored," You complained.

"There's an entire campus you can explore," Shuichi offered.

"I guess," You shrugged, "Plus I am kinda hungry... I wouldn't mind swinging by their food court..."

Shuichi's stomach growled, and you laughed, "Sounds like you wouldn't mind either!"

"S-sorry! I skipped lunch today..." Shuichi admitted.

"Why'd you skip?" You asked.

"I was really nervous," Shuichi explained quietly, almost seeming ashamed at his answer.

"Ahhh, makes sense. Don't make yourself sick from worrying so much! Now come on, to the food court!!" You declared, putting your fist up in the air like some kind of mob leader.
